Do you guys play on the PC or console?
The game look interesting and reading you guys make me want to try it...but i'm still on the fence.

I'm watching and reading a lot about this game and there's always something off that I can't point my finger on.

PC only, don't have a ps3 copy.

The game is casual friendly, but with the lack of end game content the community is becoming very elitist and selective with some of the more challenging raids and fights. But if you're familiar with the mmorpg trifecta (DPS Healing tanking) you'll feel right at home. The game's easy to pick up and easy to master if you're a MMO veteran.

Dunno if I can call myself a vet but I still play WoW and raid a lot. Played Age of Conan a lot and loved it, still sub for 1 month here and there when I feel like it. I also am playing, but a lot less, Guild Wars 2.

FFXIV look cool but the JRPG look is not appealing at all.

I'll keep an eye on it though and when if I get into it maybe I could join in one of your guild...cause playing this alone would not be fun

Only played on the PC personally, however I've seen a number of videos recorded on console and the controls seem to work pretty nicely for it.

Finally tried CT, I think it's a good start for large scale raiding but at the same time plays out more like a big FATE than a true raid given the difficulty and disorganization you can complete it with. On one hand I kind of appreciate that because I know how much I eventually grew to hate 25 man raids in WoW but it does make it a more shallow, uninteresting event. I'm interested to see how they 'grow' the idea in the future.

Also I quite like fishing. Had never done it before, but it's got a fun almost 'pokemon' like quality to it in finding new fishing holes, exploring the maps in a 'new' way and trying to catch'em all lol.

A bunch in my FC play on ps3. We are able to communicate well though, since the ps3 supports a keyboard for the chat function.

CT is not fun after a while. Its not that it isn't good, its just that it has no variety. At least with the other dungeons there is a sense of "what if i try it this way..." but with CT, its just go, get it done, hope you don't mess up so you don't get nerd raged. Good loot though. & Tomes are nice.

Working our way through Coil now. We tried coil 4 last night for the first time and failed as expected, but we weren't set up to win (no DoM outside heals) anyway. My bard is now ilvl 83!

The only reason CT has no variety is because you can't coordinate tactics with pugs since it's catered to the lowest common denominator. I can see a few different ways to approach the various different fights but there's no good way when you're forced to play with 18 other random people who may or may not be able to even kill stuff on their own.

There's a few reasons behind CT's failure:

1) Random loot makes it frustrating and "not fun".
2) Essentially splits the raid up into 3 completely separate teams, where if one team fails the others fail too. It's like 3 completely separate raids that converges at some points in the dungeon.
3) Mechanics too simple.
4) No way to kick moron(s) from the other alliance that is screwing everyone up.

I think it's a good first attempt but overall it's only fun the first few times, then turns into a chore because of too many shortcomings.

There is almost always one misfit group in CT as well. You know, that one group everyone else is waiting on and picking the slack up for lol

This isn't all that accurate. Really only 1 of the fights splits the teams up and 1 team dying will cause complete failure.

Many fights can be completed no problem if an individual team gets wiped. Plus it's pretty hard for a single team to completely wipe if the rest of the healers/tanks are competent.

I've only done it twice last week and twice this week, luckily I just got the tank helm last night so I don't really have a reason to run it for another week but if you're stuck running it for something real specific (there's like... 6 or 7 different pieces that would be useful for my bard/sch/war still) I'd see it quickly wearing out it's welcome. I didn't really notice until last night but it's also a massive tome reward, though admittedly philo aren't particularly useful these days.

I like PF but man people are a bit overzealous with the ILVL requirements on stuff lol.

PF is great, for the reason that you can be overzealous with ilvl though. You have the ability to basically duty-find with very specific requirements so that you know you can win. If you're not interested in that kind of thing, that's what DF is for, in my opinion. Some stuff legit takes a way higher ilvl than the minimum.

Working SMN through relic quest now! AK & Hydra tonight I hope. plus hopefully ifrit & garuda too. We'll see how long I have to play!

Not really. In each of the fights sans KB and the last boss, you're pretty much compartmentalized with very little power to help out other teams unless you're uber. Meanwhile, other teams' screw ups affect you. Napalms explode, adds get on your ass, dragon will tail smack you, you name it.

Try to get back on track with 2 dead pots or with 3-4 napalms exploding. You can't. You're utterly reliant on the other team's DPS and healers doing their job so you can do yours. The only way to pick up slack is to have an awesome group, which again, doesn't happen much because of pugs.

Trailer for PS4 version. Nothing too remarkable but I'd love to know more about using the Vita to play, I think it's just a stream from the PS4 over wi-fi unfortunately. Not a true 'play anywhere' solution, but still neat. If I could play with a Vita like that from the PC, I'd actually be half tempted.

Screw you Titanic Sawfish. I've caught 400 NQ gobies and mooched nearly a hundred more so far lol. All the same, fishing is really cool. I kind of hope they add an "Inside the Belly" quest or something like that eventually to make it a little more relevant/involved with the 'real' game. Also I think adding some skyfishing areas to other regions would be great, there's some really cool spots where I think it'd fit right in. Currently working on completing the fishing log and then I think I may actually slowly work toward a Luminary Rod.

Also finally got my Bravura and Omnilex. But goddamn going from tanking/bard DPS to healing Titan is like total culture shock lol, I did some really stupid stuff trying to get my casts off while dodging the bombs.

healing is by far the hardest job in titan. Although it really depends on how stupid your DPSes are, most of the time it's very unsettling to see your tanks getting chunked by mountain busters. Whm is a tertiary class for me and it's always frightening to see the tanks hp dropping.

2.16 released

For being a ".01" patch update, it's a pretty sizeable patch. Not really significant in terms of content but there are a ton of helpful features and polish being implemented. Ready checks, ground markers, AH wishlists (which are compiled to show 'demand' on the AH), PF refresh, dye previews, crafting defaulting to HQ materials when selected, crafting stats having HQ influence on quick synthesis, smarter pet modes, some FC enhancements and Hydra/Chimera being added to duty finder are most of the major ones I think. Plus a plethora of little changes.

Full patch nodes, color me impressed.

Hi guys,

I haven't played in a while, got to 60 and really just started running instances. Never completed AK or even HM Ifrit. Where should I start if I want to come back and how are the Que times for DPS (BLM)?

Holy crap my bard finally got a coil drop after clearing T2 for like the 7th or 8th time lol. Hurrah!

Also I haven't done any dungeons as a DPS at 50 in quite some time (I always queue as warrior or scholar) but at least while levelling I've found the DPS queue times to be pretty reasonable, usually it's south of 20 minutes for me for roulette or 20-30m when queuing for a particular dungeon during evening/night EST hours. I haven't had any trouble taking THM from 15-26 and LNC from 25 to 34 since I've started playing again with mostly dungeons and a few fates/leves as needed.

Grats =). It sucks that you can go so long without getting stuff though.

And regarding the DPS queue times, sometimes it can really help to try to start a party finder group (relatively new feature). If you can fill out the group quickly, great!. Or if you can get the tank(s) and/or healer(s), it'll at least improve queue times drastically.

I still haven't done any turn 5 practicing yet, but I did finally beat Titan & Ifrit Extreme last week. On one hand, it's nice having somewhat challenging stuff to do. On the other hand, it can be such a pain in the butt to find groups to clear the content...much less doing it every week. It tends to breed a certain class of players that aren't pleasant to deal with. I must admit I'm growing tired of the fact that "harder" content is generally equated with simply more and more dodging/moving and precise positioning requirements. It's novel for a while, but it's starting to wear thin on me. For the record, I don't have a lot of MMO end-game experience...just a little from Dungeons & Dragons Online & (early on in) Age of Conan.

The fights should be mechanic intensive, but not dodging intensive. "Dancing" gets tiring after a while, when even a moment's lag or a spike means you wipe. Especially tiring fro casting classes, or melee when there's an AOE around the boss (think ADS cannons).

There's a reason why WOW moved away from "dancing" and instead focused on defeating specific mechanics. Dancing is a gimmick for boss fights that wears out real quick.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. Personally, I'd lump twitch mechanics in general (like interrupting ADS's high voltage) into the same category.

I think SE has proven they are going to deliver a lot of additional content every few months, so the game is going to look quite a bit different in a year or so. I just pray end-game isn't always a twitch game. I can enjoy it sprinkled around in places, but the whole end-game? God no, that's what FPS's are for. It's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too prevalent a theme right now for my tastes. Sure, it's difficult in a way, but more so it's annoying.

I'll agree on that. Twitch mechanics have no place in MMORPGs with latency being a big issue. But the only twitchy fights right now that really stand out is titan and ads, and to a degree divebombs in twintania.

Ifrit isn't twitchy and neither is Garuda. Turn 5 (sans dive bombs) isn't very twitchy either... even DS for tanks you can see it coming.
