Yes, Myth with convert to Soldiery. However many Myth you have before patch day will remain on your char, but you won't be able to gain any more Myth nor spend Myth. You will be able to speak to an NPC and convert the Myth > Soldiery at probably 4:1, so 2,000 Myth should net 500 Soldiery.

I'd not worry about the 90 gear at all unless you are having a little trouble capping tomes this week. If you are gonna earn excess Myth, buy 90 gear or buy Myth crafting mats to sell at the AH, your choice. Regardless, save up the 2k Myth for a quick boost in soldiery next week, and buy lv100 gear (which is upgradeable to 110) with soldiery. ST also drops lv100 gear, and the weekly 1 drop/week limit will probably go away with 2.4.

anyone have any experience with endgame healing in this game? just curious as to how it compares with WoW.

I've been leveling up my white mage and enjoying it so far (mostly via dungeons), I'm just hoping I don't hit max level and suddenly hit a brick wall where the healing difficulty ramps up dramatically.

Oh yeah, hunts can be lucrative for gearing up as well if there's a good hunt community on your server...it varies by server. Hunts net you allied seals, but also myth and soldiery tomes.

But a DRG just starting out is kinda reliant on the rest of a party for A & S ranks--i.e. you're worthless and will have to be carried--because of how hunt participation is evaluated. Hunt evaluations are entirely based on threat generated, so tanks and WHMs dominate that...especially considering most people are now @110 or close enough. Even if you were geared to the teeth on DRG, most hunt groups would prefer you go tank or WHM for hunts. But meeting people who know you're just starting back up could help you there, perhaps.

There's also "Hunt bills" that you can do solo, once you've unlocked them. There's a weekly B rank hunt bill that's worth doing, and daily hunt bills for regular mobs/fate mobs that some people consider worthwhile; the last is arguable. You don't need to unlock anything to hunt A and S ranks though, just join a group and start earning the rewards.

I would assume you convert myth to soldiery with the patch but I wouldn't worry about the i90 gear (at least the main, class specific pieces) since it's much more time efficient to purchase them with hunt seals.

Hunt seals? I'll have top look that up. I think I have heard of the term but am lost as to what it actually is.

Ok, pretty sure I have the idea of hunts down now. I'll be capping myth this week pretty easily so I'll probably upgrade some of my old darklight gear with the excess.

How is DRG endgame. I love the rotation and the feel but if it's not viable then well.. it's not viable. It also seems that the majority of people have their other jobs maxed. I have about half of the other jobs around 20-25 atm. Did they increase the leveling speed? And is it still grinding levels through fates and dungeons or did they add more low level quests? Also, you mentioned they may remove the 1 item per week on ST, I take it they did this for CT already?

Fastest way to level is just do daily dungeons, and do fates/leves while you're waiting for dungeons to pop. Leveling is easier than ever with challenge logs, leves, hunts, etc and all the other stuff going on here and there. Heck, do some sightseeing logs while you're at it.

DRGs are fine end game, they boost BRD damage and their DPS is more or less equivalent to other jobs. They're the preferred class to use LB3 as well since monks will generally lose greased lightning during a LB3.

CT is already unlocked. 1 item per week on ST will be removed come 2.4 I imagine, and 2nd coil will be unlocked as well so you can run it as much as you want. But I imagine you'll still have to beat coil 1 first.

ninja is reason enough to come back.

Also: drastically increased atma drop rates will make you not want to kill yourself.

Yeah, I started playing DRG main during second coil for my static, and I consistently top dps for our group for most content. They're viable. Technically, MNK can do more single target once they get ramped up if they keep their buffs up, and DRG is a tad better at aoe, but both are comparable. Oddly enough, BLM can do the best single target DPS if properly supported (meaning lots of Foe's Requiem).

I remember that addons were just starting to appear when I left. Did a google search and it seems there are none and the one I remember from way back when, FFXIV-APP, has gotten people banned?. You mention being able to compare dps numbers from class to class. Are there addons for this game that I am just not seeing or is it only combat log parsing?

Advanced Combat Tracker is probably the best parser. SE has supposedly banned people for using it and FFXIVapp but it was back when people were actively talking about it in game and being abusive toward underperformers, etc. Basically, if someone reports you, SE will investigate the logs and if they find comments about any kind of 3rd party tools they'll ban you.

SE may have still been discussing official add-ons back then, but nothing has come of it. They have outright said they will not support DPS meters though, cause they don't want players ostracized because of it. =(

To date, stuff like FFXIVapp and ACT have been safe...buuuuuuut I will say this: during this live letter, Yoshida said SE is working on countermeasures for 3rd party tools used for Hunts (which would refer to stuff like radar tools...can't remember the popular one but there's also FFXIVapp radar plugin), and there's no telling what those countermeasures are. Search for 'countermeasures' in that link to find the quote.

don't ask don't tell is the policy. Don't call out people for doing absurdly low dps and only talk about parsing with people you're comfortable being around.

hunts isn't really a problem anymore now that they removed the rewards from B ranks.

I main a Dragoon, followed by Warrior and White Mage. The Dragoon is a unique beast because of all the stereotype and hype around the job. I'll tell you a well played Dragoon at the top 95% potential will absolutely blow away the group's expectations and don't be surprised to get many commendations for your skillfull play.

Some of my personal opinions on Dragoon strengths.

1. Best looking armors
2. 3rd on single target DPS for real world content while being end-game geared (BLMas first, followed by MONK as second) I'm not talking dummies but real content with mechanics.
3. 2nd on AOE for real world content while being end-game geared (BLM first)
4. 3rd best burst dps for real world content while being end-game geared (Bard followed by BLM)
5. Pierce debuff calculates to roughly 5-7% extra DPS from Dragoons and Bard depending on existing DPS level.
6. High mobility - 2 gap closing jumps and elusive
7. High physical damage tanking ability, along with parry skill and evasive skill

Some of Dragoon's glaring weakness.

1. Jump skill animation lock... otherwise known as insta-death, if you master when and how to use this, you are already at the top 90%.
2. Weakest magic defense - means you can't get hit with anything or insta-death.
3. Longest rotation (it really is a priority system but optimally it becomes a rotation) - if you master the rotation to be 2nd nature, you are at the top 95%.
4. High TP cost of AOE - although your AOE dps is high, you won't be able to keep it up longer than a few minutes without a dedicated bard paeon.
5. Stereotype - Dragoons have gotten a bad name so even if you make a tiny mistake, it'll be called out like the end of the world

My warrior is starting to wear DPS accessories. The only thing I need to do well is to time my inner beast for big hits and people think I'm god mode. WHM is even stupidly easier, I cycle between DPS and heals and people think I'm god mode. I never tanked or healed t6-8 and on my first time with either job, beat it with no failure of mechanics. I don't have the gear to war-tank T9 yet.

Dragoon forever! .... until Ninja comes out, but it's back to Dragoon!

Turn 9 is to turn 5 as turn 6-8 is to turn 1-4; mechanics are what kill you, not your lack of gear (for the most part). If you can handle the defensive maneuver + laser + auto attack burst on turn 8 you can handle t9.

You can war tank t9 with about 8.5k-9k health no problems if you can handle the mechanics. You can probably eat 4 sets of bahamut's claws without dying if your healers are on top of their games for #2 (vengeance will be down if you don't pop holmgang).

a lot of people play frontlines, but the grand company population is pretty skewed so you will have a long queue if you're not in the right GC. Wolves den is dead though.

As far as I know there's still a fairly active hunt community on my server, would hitting up that be the most efficient myth farm if I wanted to try to finish my Animus books pre-patch? Or are the timers on A/S now too long for reliable levels of activity?

It's only two books so with what I already have that's only about 2-2.5k myth needed.

2.4 notes out

4star crafting coming. Also looks like there will be a number of new "Artisan" recipes (legs/feet/gloves it sounds like) which I'm guessing will be new crafting gear shared between all classes. (Same goes for new Forager's gear)

Looks like there's going to be a lot of "Ehcatl Sealant" needed which you can purchase from the Ixal for "oaknots" or something. I should probably keep working on my rep with them lol.

Item list looks like they'll be continuing the "weathered" (purchased with new tomes) + coil drop -> "augmented" loot design. Ironworks items are probably the new tome gear, Dreadwyrm are probably the new coil gear.

Lots of new metallic dyes.

Sounds like some new furniture craftable using some of the trophy fish which is a cool idea. I would put up a big Marlin in my house lol.

hmm kinda disappointing. Not interested in Ninja and not sure I want to commit more time to this game knowing it's going the be the same 4 bosses for another 6+ months. Might just unsub until expansion.

I wish they would do more with the new dungeons. As it is they are just a change of scenery for capping tomes and most likely super easy just like the last set.

They give us lots of content but it's all aimed at people who don't have much time to play it seems. Shiva weapons are only i110 too, kinda strange but not surprising considering what they did with Ramuh. At least they had Leviathan right, they should have stuck to that formula.

Is it confirmed that it's going to go straight from 2.4 to expansion with no 2.5? I would think 2.5 would be the final cycle of the CT/ST storyline and assuming it's about 3-4 months away, it would fit the timing.

We'll probably get 2.45 (CT) in 3 months and then the exp pack in spring. The new CT will likely drop tomestone for weapon and more upgrade shits as usual.

edit: rogue looks like a fun support class. Here's a few abilities that has me very interested:

Goad: Refreshes TP of a single party member. Duration: 30s
Dancing Edge: Delivers an attack with a potency of 100. Combo Action: Gust SlashPotency increased to 260 when executed from a target's flank during combo. Combo Bonus: Decreases target's slashing resistance by 10% and HP recovery via healing magic by 20% Duration: 20s Cannot be stacked with the Storm's Eye status.
Trick Attack: Delivers an attack with a potency of 240. 400 when executed from behind target. Rear Bonus: Increases target's damage taken by 10% Duration: 10s Can only be executed when under the effect of Hide, and shares a recast timer with Sneak Attack.

The rest of their skills (ninja) looks to similar to monk.
