lol, I still haven't even cleared T5. Too much time spent crafting and working on Atma/Animus over the summer

Also I can't believe someone (some people?) getting ninja Nexus already. I'd kill myself trying to farm that much soldiery that quickly for just the books - never mind the rest needed for Zenith/Sphere Scroll/etc AND the light farming. Insane.

Ixal quests got me starting my gathering classes finally. It's still a little bit of a chore and I'm just slowly progressing through them whenever I get the itch, but I never quite appreciated how much went into them either - lots of different abilities and passives and interesting things to account for.

once you're lvl 15 you're pretty much done with the the fun passives and abilities of the gathering class. The rest is either doing leves or watching some tv series while you punch rocks and trees so you don't go insane.

We do 3 groups for meteors, which works great too if ppl pay attention to the fight at all, which is kinda required for t9. But it was mostsly focus, and a little bit of panick...quit talking about whether naruto or hunter x hunter is ending or the latest scam news and pay attention to t9 already!

1st problem is mostly gone now that the MT was booted, as are our stumbles on phase 2. Yesterday we made it to elementals on the first 5 pulls smooth as can be. Well see how it goes from here. We expect to be a little slow on progression cause we don't gather often, but we've gotten way behind.

don't know about the 3 group thing, but we just run around in a circle. If you drop meteors fine all that's left is to dps down the golems in a timely fashion. Our group has about 15 seconds after the golems are dead to buff... once heavens fall goes down it's a whole another story to manage distances, garrotes, ghosts and keep up DPS so you don't get that 3rd heavensfall.

Then if you get to the last phase you can start working on the real part of turn 9: fire/ice/lightning, dodging divebombs + lunar dynamo + steel chariot + healing bahamut's claw + spreading out for meteor dives.

ezzzzzzz stuff.

I'm liking Animus -> Novus far more than Zenith -> Atma or Atma -> Animus. It's a much more relaxed progression, albeit expensive, but I like being able to make progress with nothing more than an Expert & Trial roulette each day, whereas with Atma or Books I always felt compelled to beat my head against them constantly lol.

I liked Animus > Novus better than the previous steps as well. Though maybe Atmas are better now with the increased drop rates. I haven't tried.

I finally beat t9 on Saturday, as did 1 of the bards in our static. So that brings us to 4/8 who have clears. We did the same thing for t5 back in the day...most of us had to clear individually 1st to break through the last phase. We weren't stuck as long on t5 though, just got started late. At least we're clearing prior to echo this time, which feels good. I also did some farming, but no DRG weapon yet.

I think atma is way quicker now. I've heard people getting anywhere from half a dozen to a full set of atma in just a couple hours post-patch. Maybe I'll do my bravura eventually, but I think I'd sooner wait for animus books to get 'nerfed' (I would imagine they will be at some point) before doing that - my excess soldiery all going to maps currently.

I finally beat t5 on Saturday group of my raiding friends had a spot. Still a little hard to imagine doing that pre-nerfs with like i80-i90ish gear lol.

death sentence was difficult to manage and the dps race on the knights/snakes were a bit tighter, but the fight is all mechanics. dodge your twisters, divebombs, kill your knights and conflags and you're fine. Screw that up and you wipe. Of course the tanks have to pay attention to their cooldowns... it was a lot less lenient (I remember getting 1 shotted when I screwed up my buff rotation)

We finally cleared turn 10 yesterday, after 3 weeks of scheduling troubles and barely being able to get any time practicing. It's a really involving fight for every class, it's really nicely designed. It's a DPS race, tanks need to be aware of position, mechanics and healers need to actively adloq/stoneskin people. Annoying part is getting 8 warm bodies on at the same time without people afking.

Sooo, played ff14 during the past free weekend and got totally hooked. Really enjoying the hell out of it now with the paid version and totally loving the main story arch. Between gw2 and anything wow did, I find ff14 to be much better. I also like the one race, all classes approach. Having only one class type of each class does leave less in the way of choice, but atleast balance won't be an issue and we all see how each expansion WoW is dumbing down the uniqueness of each class sub type too.

It is a shame there are no reviews based on all the additional content that has gone into the game. Anyone starting now would easily consider this one of the most complete and polished MMOs out there.

It's pretty remarkable how much content they've put out. It's hard to describe how much QOL stuff they put out and how much it has improved the game, but even little things like being able to sort through your gc item turn ins adds up here and there.

SE put a lot of resources into making this game successful and it shows.

Yeah, they've been really good about their update cadence. Once duty roulettes were added and you had more options for level 50 dungeons than just AK/WP I think it really started to blossom. From the sounds of their roadmap they have plenty more ideas as well.

Plus even while dungeons and raids and such will probably eventually be outdated, they've also been adding content/activities that will (or can) 'always' be good. The sightseeing, gardening, housing, challenge log. Challenge log, roulette bonuses and per class guildhest bonus XP all on their own would have gone a long way to alleviating a lot of the early complaints about levelling (though I thought it was OK anyway).

Pretty neat news. SE is planning to release a version of Triple Triad for the phone which you can link with your SE ID to share cards/progress with the FFXIV implementation of it - presumably which will be part of the Gold[en] Saucer in the future. The app is planned for both iOS and Android.

I gotta say I think this is an awesome idea - mobile integration into the game world, even on such a simple level, has a lot of potential. Little things like mini-games, retainer/venture management, crafting, chocobo feeding, etc would really keep people invested in the world I think.

My poor Lumia gets no love though

I'm sure you can play it on bluestacks or something.

Also what's the cross to grow thav onions? My chocobo's finally hitting lvl 10 and I'd like to start tossing onions on it.

I'm not really concerned about it, I never actually played Triple Triad and I'm guessing it isn't going to really connect with the rest of the game in any meaningful way - I just like the idea in general. Though if you can buy/sell cards or earn some vanity gear or something I might take an interest and get it up on Bluestacks/Andy.

Is a pretty good resource for gardening crosses. I still think the interface isn't the greatest but it gives you an idea of what combinations work. Thav Onion, in general, is "old high end seed" (glazenut/broombush/jute) + "new specialty chocobo feed" (curiel root/pahsana fruit/mimmet gourd/etc) though. I'm pretty sure I grew a few onions from Jute + Curiel. R13 chocobo!

I've tried a few of the crosses listed and they produced some unexpected results (was trying to grow some onion princes earlier). Some of the crosses listed are either wrong or outdated it seems. Nymia lily x curiel root seems to be the "right" cross (see it listed in a lot of places) even though the one with pearle rosette seems to be listed to be the "best"....?

One of the annoying things about gardening with the chocobo seeds is that I believe many of the crosses have multiple results (or maybe seeds that can result only from one of the two plants, I can't say I've been keeping up), so that doesn't sound wrong per se. That might be what the efficiency is supposed to represent? I don't really know.

Though looking at the Thav Onion 'recipes' I wouldn't rely on that site 100% either - I doubt Mandrake x Glazenut produces Onion seeds. Or if it does it's a curious outlier beyond the established pattern.

I believe you can pretty safely pick whatever of the "choco feed seed" x "high tier seed" combination is most economical/convenient for you and it should be alright. Though it may not produce Onion seeds every time as well.

The first post on this page (#261) hasn't been kept current but was a pretty good resource for me as well.

2.45 released, can't say I've been playing much at all lately or following it at all. I basically have been logging in to do my GC provisioning missions and to gradually level bot/min but that's about it.

The latest steps of the relic line are kind of neat though, I like how it involves multiple aspects of the game/community/economy to progress. Which I think is a sound design for an MMO despite a lot of bitching surrounding it because "omfg i cant believe desynth/crafting matters to progression!" etc.

I had been hoping to reach Novus by christmas/new years but haven't done a roulette in over a month lol, I'm at like 33/75. Oh well.

don't give a crap about relic. Did my novus and I'm just slowing gathering lights with daily roulettes and trials. I'll admit I do get pretty excited when I get blinding light at the end of a dungeon though.

Other than that I've just been growing random mandragora minions and onions while trying to clear FCOB with my static.

All sorts of cool news coming out of JP fanfest. New DPS "Machinist" job (aka: gunner) being added, new healer "Astrologian" as well as a better look at Dark Knight. New bird/lizard/ram looking race named "Au Ra". DX11 preview which actually made some of the textures look noticeably better and really improved water imo. Golden Saucer video preview (scheduled for 2.51 I think). Flying mounts and a boatload of new expansion content previewed as well.

2.5 patch trailer

I have to say I'm excited for it - I'm wondering if the "CT" storyline and the main scenario will coalesce somehow. Plus it looks like we might finally get some more direct dealings with the Ascians which I think will be interesting. Calling it now - more scions gon die!

Also seems somewhat fitting that the 'current' dungeons for the last pre-expansion patch will be WP and AK lol, the game has come a long way.

Started playing again a couple days ago after a long break, was able to get through T6 and T7 with some friends of friends, felt pretty hectic. But I like that there was a lot going on and mechanics that kept all members of the party engaged (at one point or another), despite the nerfs.
