Well the only thing that isn't working right is the Duty Finder, and that is because the servers are at max capacity and are cracking under the stress.

I take it you never played an MMO at launch before? As far as MMO launches go, this one has been pretty damn smooth with just 1 thing breaking.

Servers have been down more than up and another maintenance is scheduled in a few hours. Duty server being down means you can't progress past level 10. I wouldn't call it smooth compared to some other mmo's like rift and neverwinter. Hell it took me an hour to start downloading it after going through the convoluted account system.

You pick about the only 2 MMO's that had probably the best launches and even then Rift had massive account security problems. Believe me, I know all to well about being stuck, I'm stuck at a story line quest (killing Ifrit) and can't get the duty finder to work long enough to get a group in the instance. Because of this I can't get my chocobo yet which was my main goal today. So believe me, I am pissed, but I have been through so many MMO launches where I couldn't even get on the server or stay on the server, that being able to play, even in a gimp state currently is still pretty damn good.

Square Enix has already used up all of their good will for this game. They needed and I expected a great launch and instead it's just another demonstration of incompetence.

Same arguments I hear every time...

"Well if I was running this game it would have gone smoothly!"
"How could have they not planned for this!"
"THIS IS THE WORST LAUNCH IN THE HISTORY OF EVERYTHING"

lol @ crybabies

Man, you're right. After they bombed the initial launch and figured out that everyone hated it, they decided to create an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT MMO to help appease and re-gain their fans trust by re-creating it using all of their feedback. Let alone they let everyone who bought it before just keep their account and get another free period, they relaunched the new version and a pretty cheap price.

I tell ya, after all that I'm not sure I can trust them anymore

We can agree to disagree then, since I think everything they've done is absolutely what they had to do in order to have a chance to operate a profitable subscription based MMORPG. I have no doubt that they want to do nothing more than deliver the best FF experience they can. I'm just starting to wonder if they can pull it off. Anyway, I'm only annoyed that I haven't been able to play as much as I want so they must be doing something right.

The problem is more that it is really nothing special. It's not bad, and it's pretty to look at, but it's just another run of the mill MMO. They needed something special. In this, I think they failed. Maybe it's early on in the overall game, but I don't see how it will be much different 80 levels from now.

And yea..the part that is broken pretty much prevents me from doing anything but fighting monsters (due to where I left off).

10102 error again when trying to login; darn

Yeah, got that this morning when I tried to log on. Now, all the servers are down for maint.

I'm not really angry about the launch, as almost all mmo's go through this kind of thing.

And, it's early access, so everyone is playing for free, more or less.

I just wish the open beta had been longer, and they'd tried to actually fix the duty finder stuff that was obviously a problem during open beta, instead of waiting till after the beta was over.

Perhaps we'd be getting more playtime now.

Well, as long as this crap is fixed by the actual launch day, I guess I wont have to much to complain about. However, if this is still ongoing a week after launch, I'll be much less forgiving.

From what I've been reading and everything. It seems that early access actually has more people logging on at once then even open beta did for them and they were not expecting that and that is why some of the same errors are popping up again that they claimed to have fixed from the open beta because even more people are in the system now.

The problems suck, but its typical MMO launch really. Can't expect companies to buy up tons of servers for the first week rush and then be left with a ton of ghost town servers and have merger happen a few months later due to everyone getting spread thin and people log on at their normal play times instead of trying to log on asap all the time with their new game.

After the emergency maintenance on the North American/European data Worlds which was conducted from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 25, to confirm the optimization of the matching server for the Duty Finder, we will be limiting the login more than usual. We will be relieving the limitation gradually as we see oversee the status.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may caues, but we would like to ask for your continued cooperation to make this a stable environment.

I'm just bummed that any server where anyone that I know (including on here) is playing on is already locked down. I don't feel like creating a character on a server just to have it go to waste because I want to play with someone else. :\ I've pretty much been playing Torchlight II the entire Early Access period because either I can't play (server down, etc.) or there's no reason for me to play. I don't mind the prior so much as I'm pretty used to online game launches, but the latter does suck a bit.

Yea I'm not a fan of all the servers either. It would be nice if your char could go between the servers. Honestly at this date in the game...not sure why they didn't go that route. They could still put a limit on the # of people logged into 1 server, but it would be really nice if they weren't segregated like this. We are past all that.

Well, since I was stuck earlier, with the duty finder, I took a break. Came back, and tried to log on....

Told me the server was full, and to try again later (no que, just the note), then kicked back to the start menu.

Took me around ten times, but finally got logged on. After that, it was pretty smooth, no problems at all with the duty finder.

Then, I tried using the return skill to get back to Limsa from Ul'dath, or however they are both spelled. Lost connection, kicked back to the start menu, and now telling me I still have a character logged on, and to wait for it to log itself out.

That was 10 minutes ago. Guess I'll take another break. Perhaps I'll be able to log back in if I give it more than 10 minutes 0_o /sigh

If it's error 3102 it might be a lot more than 10 minutes. I can't log in since last maintenance

Well, waited another 20-30 minutes or so, and that error went away. But, then it was just telling me "server full, come back later" without putting me into a que again.

I don't mind sitting in a q for 5-15 minutes. But, not letting me even que up? wth?

Yep queues are good, this keep trying til it works (or doesn't) is the worst. Its bad for players and it just makes the servers get hit harder by people bruteforcing logins...

tbh bruteforcing has worked for me in the past with many games but I must have tried 100x and no luck so its pretty bad

Came home and wanted to play.. epic fail. Are we expected to sit there and spam login attempts ad nauseum ? ; click start, click character name, click that yes I do really want to login, click on the world is full try again crap.. rinse repeat.

Not worth it and gave up after a few minutes of that crap.

that's their plan: get enough people to be sick and tired of their crap that they can say "look servers are fine!" and call it a day.

That's one way to fix a congested server I suppose.

1) congested server!
2) kick off 80% of the world and make it so nobody can login.
3) Not congested anymore!

If you do happen to log in, don't switch zones. You'll get dumped out.

Is it true there is NO AFK timer? lol...how is this even possible? Does anyone have any info on this?

People can just log in and go to work or whatever and still be on when they get home?....lmao...I hope I understand this wrong!

I've been trying off and on...at this point I'm just done with it. It's something as a time waster, but meh... paying for this was pointless. Exactly why I never do this. Lesson learned.
