So, it's really easy with little challenge, especially to get up to max level but has interesting crafting?

I was hoping it'd be very much like old FFXI with a lot of hard, early grouping necessary content.

Not really easy to get max level. Still takes a lot of hours, just the people that are max level now literally played all day each day for a week straight just grinding the entire time. I've been playing each day since open beta (where you got to keep your progression) and put a lot of hours in each day and am still not 50 yet.

The leveling as it is, is perfect imo. Since you will be leveling up quite a few classes. There is plenty of early grouping content that is necessary if you want to do the storyline. You have to go through a lot of the dungeons and fight primals using the duty finder and playing with a group of people. Most people are grouping up also for exp and FATE grind groups so that they can max out contribution to get the best reward (for FATE's) and to get high chain combos (for exp grinding). But yes it is a much more solo friendly and you are not gimped sitting around LFG to progress most the time.

Crafting is quite cool, I haven't played with it much yet (I don't normally craft till I hit max level) but everyone else seems to like it a lot as it rewards you for making better items instead of making 50 copper rings to progress and stuff.

It's not about whether levelling is hard or not. It's whether the game actually offers a challenge or not.

It's been a while since I played and square doesn't make it easy to get back up to speed. I currently have a level 50 blm but for some reason my thamaturge quests were reset back to square one. Is there any reason to level the class specific quests past level 10? It would suck to go through all those again. I'm also redoing the main quest line so I can access the dungeons.

Yes and no. They have made it much more accessible and it is aimed a lot towards the modern MMO market. But the end game raids, or some of them are suppose to be aimed at the elite. Yoshi said one of the raids he expects less than 100 people to clear Bahamut's Coil before 2.1.

Basically they are making the majority of content accessible to everyone but will still have the stuff only the elite are going to be able to do.

If they did both, it might make trying to log onto their game slightly less excrutiating.

I imagine the answer to the first is, they dont want people to know they are "number 15213 in the que". I'd still take it over the endless clicking roulette wheel we have now.

I love the game....when I can play it. But, if this doesn't get fixed sometime soon, I don't know how long I'm going to bother with it.

I love the game....when I can play it. But, if this doesn't get fixed sometime soon, I don't know how long I'm going to bother with it.

The queue system is there, but ironically when it gets overloaded it crashes and doesn't show up and people are left going through the cycle over and over till they get it or into the queue. It is bugged to all hell due to the load it is under.

I have no idea why they don't kick people for afk. They didn't do it in FF11 either. It should be implemented though, and I speak as someone who hasn't had any problems logging on and I do afk for a bit here and there. I've been in some towns where I would go inside a random building that has nothing to bring you there and lots of people would be afk sitting in the chairs lol.

Came back just now, to give it 1 more try....and apparently the lobby server is full now. I can't even connect to that.

Such a sad state of the game here...

Na, about an hour or so ago the servers pretty much crashed. Anyone on the NA/EU servers that zoned got error 9000. I only found out after it happen to me and I just finished a storyline quest lol.

After so many days of not being able to log in, or making it in about 30 mins before I gotta call it a night, I just left my char logged in overnight last night. Allowed me to play a few minutes this morning before heading out of town. But yes, that crap needs fixing SOON.

They announced earlier that when they do maintenance on Sept 4th they will also be giving everyone 7 days of free game time to make up for the problems so far and might add more.

too bad there's no free trial/demo... after my clusterfuck experience with the original FFXIV beta, I'm skeptical at plunking down $40 for an MMO based on reviews alone.

anyone playing this on PS3? I'm curious if the GUI is more suited for console versus PC.

They have an entirely different GUI for when you use a controller. It actually works really well.

No, runs pretty smoothly. And my pc is getting pretty long in the tooth as well.

Even in crowded fates where you cant even see the boss mobs for all the spell effects, my system just chugs along nicely without a hitch.

Well, thats when i can actually play. I woke up this morning close to the time I normally do when I work, so thought I'd log in. Even at 6:00am, still took me 5 minutes to go logged on, with the 1017 error (seriously people, log the heck off )

Then, an hour and a half later, I minimized to pull up my email, and it crashed to desktop (hasn't done that before). Since then, even the lobby has been full.

I did almost get logged on once. Made it into the random que, with only 15 in front of me. But, got the 1017 error 10 seconds later.

Think I'll give up for awhile.

my laptop has a lot of trouble on areas with a lot of people, but instanced dungeons and boss fights it runs pretty smooth granted everything i could turn down is turned down and running at 720p

i5 2410m, gt 555m and 8gb of ram

Well, my copy should arrive first thing on Wednesday morning (UK time, when you guys are in bed) so the signup servers will likely be down and I'll likely manage to avoid receiving any compensation for not being able to play for X hours

Either way, quite excited to play it now that a friend has told me it has the FFXI aggro system (aggro on sight, on sound, on smell, on casting).
