OSU should have won. The problem is Tressel is an idiot for starting Pryor and not Boeckman. I think OSU would have gone undefeated or 1 loss if this would have been the case all season.
I also think the reason why the Big Ten does bad in bowl games is cause of the climate. They pratice in the cold weather while basically every other BCS team has warmer weather. I could be totally wrong but just a thought.
Also the Big Ten doesnt have that many real good coaches. You have Tressel and Paterno..i dont want to comment on Rodriguez yet. But look at the Big 12 or the SEC..they have better coaches.
5 years ago the SEC was the laughing stock and the Big Ten was top dog...times have changed..big deal..stop acting like the Big Ten has been terrible for decades.
Tressel is an idiot for starting Pryor? They're in a rebuilding year and Pryor has more talent, there's no reason to start Boeckman. In any case, you'll eat your words when OSU makes it to the championship game in < 3 years with Pryor. Typical fairweather fan.
RE: climate, that definitely plays a factor as well as recruiting.
They returned almost the entire team back from last year..and they are in a rebuilding year? Pryor is talented (ive seen him play) but he wasnt ready for this year. Even an OSU alum who i work with came in this morning and said the same damn thing to me.
Um, look at how many people have left OSU to go to the NFL in the past 2 years...
11 to be exact. This team is a mere shadow of the powerhouse team that played UF in the NCG.
Pryor wasn't ready? How do you figure, the only bad play that *may* have cost them a slightly better bowl was in the 4th quarter, 3rd and 1 leading 6-3 over Penn State when he fumbled on the QB sneak by not protecting the ball. But then a few plays later, OSU shot themselves in the foot anyway with pass interference; they still had a chance to win by stopping PSU but their D choked. Then Penn State easily scored to win the game. In that game, Pryor almost double Penn State's QB in passing yards (did throw 1 INT) but the problem came down to OSU's run D giving up 4yd/carry to Royster, so PSU won the possession time by over 4 minutes. Not all Pryor's fault.
However, who cost Ohio State the USC thumping?
Boeckman, not Pryor. He was the one that:
threw the INT return, threw a 2nd that set up another score, fumbled after a sack that set up another score, and was in total sacked FOUR times (um, get rid of the ball if you see the pocket collapsing, don't take the sack) to Pryor's one. In addition OSU didn't have Beanie Wells so no way in hell they were beating USC and going to any title game. No fcking way with that team,
USC outclassed them in every category.
Last, who had the comeback win against Wisconsin? Oh yeah, Pryor:
#14 OSU comeback win over #18 Wisconsin. It's convenient to scapegoat a whole season on a rookie who only played 9 games, but in reality it was the TEAM that choked, not Pryor. At the most you can blame the PSU game on him (1 play doesn't decide a whole game) but even then it wouldn't have gotten you to the NCGame without beating USC.
You guys should be thankful you have such a young weapon like Pryor and even made it to a BCS Bowl after you didn't even win your division. Count your blessings and be glad you get to watch a QB that now has big game experience and also ridiculous talent (4.3 speed).
