Enjoy it while it lasts. Those OPEC bastards are going to cut down oil production by a couple million barrels a day to force the price of crude back up. :|

So oil is now around what, $64/barrel? Some people pay ~$64 each time at the pump. With that kind of money they could afford a whole 42 gallon barrel.
So $64/42 gallon barrel means $1.52/gallon. Seriously, where can I get some barrels.

Oil != Gasoline. Gasoline is the cream off the top.

With reforming and catalytic cracking, you can get a LOT of that oil turned into gasoline. 50% isn't uncommon, although this number varies widely depending on what you're feeding your distillation towers and regional demand. With straight distillation, I believe it's around 10-20%, again depending on the source crude. With oil at $64/barrel, even if you get a GOOD column for free, you're still making $15/gallon gasoline without cracking and reforming.
It's best left to the large scale refineries, trust me.

It's weird. A couple of weeks ago the stations around here in Morristown NJ hit $2.29 then last Friday shot back up to $3.39 then Sunday dropped to $2.89 and today back to $2.99
WTF?

I work in the Morristown area. I just had lunch on the green, just days ago. Where the heck did you see gas for that price?
