I am somewhat dissapointed, its hitting below 30 FPS someplaces... Something I don't understand with AnAndTech is why do we have 1280x960 used? Who the hell uses that resolution? Not to mention I really wish they would mark the lowest/highest frame rate they had in the games.... We really need a Combo with HardOCPs Line Graphs/ Xbits Bar Graphs, that'd be awesome review IMHO...

Yes but compared to a 9800Pro or X600XT, it does more than ok.
To a games enthusiast though, this card won't cut mustard because the frame rates really sink with AA/AF with the recent batch of FPS.

This is true but a true "games" enthusiast who wants top notch performace will be in the 6800GT range
The GeForce 6600GT is the $199 part and has 8 pixel-pipelines, 3 vertex engines and is using a 128-bit memory bus connected to GDDR3. The GeForce 6600 has everything the 6600GT has except it uses DDR1 and will be clocked lower on the core and memory

The death of 3dfx's SLI has more to do with the limit of only 1 AGP slot per mobo than anything else. One card running off the AGP slot and another running off the PCI bus would have yielded minimal (or none) performance gains as GPUs became more powerful. PCI-E, of course, removes that bottleneck and that's why SLI is being brought back.

Originally posted by: Jeff7181
I can't help thinking SLI won't stick around much longer than it did last time. I mean... when the Voodoo SLI cards were replaced by more powerful single cards, what were people saying? "Man, this single card can do so much more than those two... and it takes up less space in my case too.".More upgrade options are never a bad thing IMO.The only advantage of SLI is that you can get a 6600GT now and it'll be fast enough for most things... then when it's too slow you can get a 2nd one, IF you bought a motherboard that supports it... if not, well, you're SOL.

If this card comes out in mass and well below MSRP after nforce4 shows up, i'll definitely get two of these. Maybe we'll even see discounts or "matched pairs" like we do with dual channel memory
Just a thought..
