Make sure you're using the correct FTP address or IP.

Your username should be rhxxx and use your cPanel password.

I called him up and he said they'll deal with it, looks like they're sick of Alan too, they didn't want any financial help or anything.

I didn't ask, although this was the second time I've spoken with Jason, he said he was busy. Both times he sounded like he just wanted to get this done with as soon as possible, I think that's how everyone is feeling. I hope people take this chance and get all their data and move on taking this as a lesson.

I don't want to pay money to have the servers turned back on, I want my $7.50 back from Alan since I paid for a year and am no longer getting a year of service.

That is hard to say. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens when server2 comes back.

Server1 has been not responding to for over a month now so turning off Cpanel access on the 18th did not really have an effect. Last week it was responding to a ping so it was running, just not responding to HTTP/FTP/etc. When I checked this morning I see that it does not respond to a ping anymore so it must be completely offline now.

In the past server1 would get in this state from time to time and Alan would have to call in to get the server rebooted. He said something about a user script going crazy and tying up the server.

BTW: I just checked... Cpanel is up on server2. Everyone go get your data ASAP. Click the Backup icon in Cpanel and then select "Download Today's Home Backup". This will get you a TAR of your home directory.

You may also want to go into MySQL and export any databases that you have. Instructions are here.

there are a lot of fly by nite hosting resellers out there who would offer crazy deals just to pay for their montly bandwidth... price meets a certain point where it becomes less than cost... add an overload of anandtechers... and u have some downed servers. reseller has nowhere to go but run lolz... i doubt they will refund anything

in short.. i just dont trust really cheap hosting packages for anything important... then again getting raped for hosting is zzz...

I have to wonder why he doesn't just sell it then, "easy money" since he already has the business, just needs to sell it, I don't know why he's waiting... I would assume someone in his situation would just take whatever is the highest offer and move on or something, why put so many customers in a tough situation?
