Hello All,

Well I got my case today.. so i began to put it all together. Everything went great.

Then I went to boot it up... Ok I had the Ram problem. So i borrowed some of my friends and tweaked the settings in the bios. right now i am running 2.5 8 3 3. So I got the computer to work this far. So i tried to install Windows 2000 Pro. Well the 1st time i did it it rebooted almost right away. So i noticed that on boot up that my HDD was Master and my DVD-ROM was secondary slave.

So I looked in the book and it said to set it up like HHD Primary Master.. and DVD Secondary master..

This seemed to help a little bit at least i got about 30 seconds into the installation process. I went into Bios and turned off the raid stuff. but it still seems to run through the checks. I tried installing my hard drive on IDE 2 and CD IDE 1 nothing would help. I am sure that I am overlooking something very minor but my brain is F R I E D.

What could it be.. I also get the message Primary channel and Secondary Channel Drive not found. As the same as SkylineGTR.

Please help!

Scott.

I think the messages you get like someone said before are because of the SATA raid controller, did you say you tried setting up your hard drive on the IDE 1 as master then your optical drives on IDE 2, this seems like that configuration would make the most sense if you aren't using RAID. If that didn't workt then I don't know what to say because I'm expecting this board off a member here soon and I'm kinda worried now that I'm not going to get it up and running.

How can I tell if my XINXP1394 is B if it is A version?

Your answer to this question is on the first page of THIS thread :

The 1st way is to look at the lot number sticker located above the parallel port. If it ends in BB, then your chipset is the B0 version. This was confirmed by Gigabyte.

The 2nd way is on the A0 boards, there is a leaflet included than describes the issue when running a HT enabled processor and that ACPI functions will be disabled. The B0 boards do not include this leaflet.

If you order from Outpost before 12 midnight EST, you can get the board the next morning by noon for about $14 shipping. However, as stated from 1 of the members over at Asusboards, his came yesterday, and his was a A0 revision. He said that he had ordered his about a week ago however. Perhaps it was just a left over from the previous shipment.

Everything I have read here and at the AsusBoards site indicates no. I guess there was some hype that a bios update may be in the works but it has been shot down by some really knowledable individuals.

You know, I didn't think it supported the 800 FSB cpu's? I would love to see some benchmarks of this board with an 800 FSB cpu.
