To get more than 137gb, you have to install Windows XP Service Pack 1 or 2.

Thanks, I knew I was forgetting something.
My setup disk is just really old...do I have to make a new setup disk?

You should be able to install on the hard disk even though Windows thinks it's 137GB. Then once you can apply SP2 it'll recognize the rest of the drive.

Will it create a 137 GB partition though?

Good question; I don't usually have a full 137gb dedicated to my C: partition, so I don't know what it would do.

I think that is some kind of I/O firmware. But I do not have problems with I/O devices. Do I have to change my Bios from F10 to F12 and did somebody have any experience with F12 BIOS and it's overclocking abilities?

I just tried to build a system with this MB and I use a Radeon X-1900 and it will not even post. I get a long beep and what it seems two short beeps. According to the manual it claims monitor or display card error. This card works fine with my Abit in9 32x-max. Is there something I must do/reset or anything else?

Here are the system specs:

E6600 Retail Core Duo processor
2Gb of Corsair Twin2x2048-8500C5D (Dominator XMS2)
Antec HE550 power supply
2 SATA II HD (400Gb and 500Gb)
2 SATA Samsung DVD burners
Radeon X1900 GT video card

Thanks

Nick

Did you remember to plug in the extra 12V connector? It has four pins. Is there an extra power connector on the video card that is needed? Otherwise, try resetting the CMOS?

you mean the 4 pin connector next to the CPU? It is plugged in (I took it off and reseated it.)

I also took the video card out and reseated it (it positively locks down).
It does have 6 pin PCI-E connector that is connected. Also the card fan is running normally.

I also went ahead and reset the CMOS via pin as well as removed the battery for a couple mins.

Result still a long beep and 2 short ones. Nothing shows in the monitor. I even tried 2 different monitors (both LCD both work fine with other desktops).

I plugged the video card on my Abit IN9 32x-max and it posts fine.

Any input will be appreciated.

Cheers

I have rev 1.3 and noticed that the latest BIOS on the USA site is F11 while rev 3.3 has the latest F12. Any huge difference in fixes/functionality? Will one not work on another?

Issues I'm trying to fix are that the board won't POST reliably when overclocked. If it does POST, then it seems stable, but most times it won't POST and sometimes I have to leave it off a couple minutes before it will POST again. Set at defaults it will POST every time. CPU is E4300. Current BIOS is F10.

At minimum I'll go to the official F11 BIOS and try a couple things (raising PCI-E to 102-105MHz, etc.).

It could be a quirk with this mobo and your card, try adjusting the PCI frequency in your bios to 102. I'll bet that will sort it out.

Unfortunately I cannot even go into post. I see nothing on my monitor. In fact it never even comes on. It thinks that there is no signal. That is happening with 2 different monitors so there is no way for me to even go into BIOS.

had a quick look for you and found the following pretty much everywhere

1long, 2 short Video adapter error Either video adapter is bad or is not seated properly. Also, check to ensure the monitor cable is connected properly.
http://bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm

i'd try reseating again ... make sure no gold stripy bits are showing at the bottom of the card when pushed in and also try another video card. maybe a problem with the pci-e slot ? or some of the sticker that was covering it left over ??

yup the error beep explanation is in the back of the owner's manual. I have tried multiple times to re seat the card but no difference. I have put it on my Abit board and it has no problem. Unfortunatelly I do not have a second PCI-express card. I have a couple AGP cards but these will not help.

I also used 2 diff monitors and both work fine with my dell pc's and my Abit MB. But nothing happens with the Gigabyte MB.

Thanks a million for the input.

Anyone know how the following memory configuration goes on this board ? in particular in keeping dual channel and overclocking ?

2 x 1024 DDR2-800
with
2 x 512 DDR2-800

same specs and manfacture for each kit ... only the size is different

only other thing I can think of is the power supply ... do you use the same one as with the Abit board ? What is the psu ?

thx amenx I think I might try it out ... a 1gig kit of ddr2 is so cheap atm ! and 2gig does not seem enough when gaming in Vista ! I'm running at 97% in bf2142 and vista !

i had same problem with e4300 and radeon x1550. when o/c'ed even slightly (225x9), it did not post. i had to wait for a while.

i tried anything and only thing helped was cooling off the north bridge.

now it is running @ 333x8 stable.

I just bought a 5? small fan and superglued it to the top just like this:

before I couldn't even touch the thing for a second without my finger burning off !!

That is right, aussieburger. I did same thing. I put 80mm vol-modded fan on top, though i have to fix it on somehow.

I recently received all of the necessary parts for my new computer and I wanted to be certain about a few things before building it.

My setup is as follows:
- Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
- Gigabyte 965P-DS3 Rev 3.3
- 2x1GB Corsair XMS2 DDR800 6400C4
- Antec P180b case
- Thermalright HR-01 heatsink with Yate Loon 120mm fan
- 2 Maxtor 500 gig SATA hd's (both rebadged Seagate 7200.10)
- Corsair 620W powersupply
- 2 IDE DVD-RW's (an 18x Samsung with lightscribe and a 18x Pioneer)
- Samsung floppy drive
- EVGA 8800 GTS 640MB video card
- Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer sound card
- Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 w/ SP2

Currently I'm not looking to overclock or set up RAID.

Do I need to install any extra drivers or update anything in the bios to have my harddrives work (they will be connected to the Intel ports)? I've also heard problems regarding any IDE devices connected to the board though some people have said that setting the jumper to Cable Select would fix that problem.

Other than for increasing the RAM's voltage to 2.1V, is there anything else I should look into changing in the bios (such as the settings for the CPU fan)?

Does it matter which fan header I place the connectors of the 3 fans that come with the Antec case? Does it even matter if I connect them since each of them come with a small switch to control their speed?
