Only problem I've noticed so far is that BF2 crashes like crazy. Sometimes it crashes to the desktop, sometimes it reboots the machine, sometimes it just freezes and I have to reboot. It might be the 1.3 patch though since a lot of people are complaining.

HAs anyone tryed using the Super Talent T800UX2GC4 memory with the DS3 board yet?
It is rated at 1.8 @ 4-3-4-8 timings and has gotten nothing but great reviews so I ordered two sticks from Ewiz and a E6600/DS3 combo from the Egg. Just hoping for a clean first post/boot.

No problem with these G.Skill DDR2-800 sticks on my DS3. Currently running an E6300 @ 425x7 stably. Feeding 2.0v to the DIMMs, but I'll try dropping that to 1.9v and see if it's still stable.

Oh, the board booted up fine at default 1.8v voltage with these sticks installed. No need to buy a cheap 1.8v stick to get into the BIOS and up the voltages.

If those are the DDR2-800 with micron chips, they are reported as excellent OC!!!

The 2GB kit (1GB per stick) of Super Talent T800UX2GC4 Memory has a speed rating of DDR2-800 or PC2-6400, and 4-3-4-8 CAS latency timings. That might a little off compared to the golden standard for DDR of 2-2-2-5, but you'd be well advised to keep in mind that most other DDR2-800 DIMM's have latency timings in the 5-5-5-12 range. Super Talent's memory is directed at the desktop market which means it is non-ECC and unbuffered. According the manufacturer, these modules are built with Micron's impressive 2.5ns RevE DRAM.

they are. I just figured I would gamble and hope this motherboard likes em

OK, so I have been messing with this thing for a week now, and I am not sure what's not right about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated

p965 ds3
E6300
2x 512 XMS Corsair 6400
sapphire x1900gt

I can not for the life of me get this thing to run stable. I am not overclocking at all and I can't get through 2M on super PI. I have had blue screens installing and playing games. In fact, one time even installing windows. I have tried upping the voltage on the vdimm and cpu..seemed to help a bit with the CPU, but still fails miserably. Also when I boot from OFF. The system speaker should emit a beep..instead I get a kind of screechy messed up sound. When the computer reboots, it will usually beep normally. I have an antec smartpower 500PS as well if that makes a difference. Any help would be great. Let me know what other info you might need. Thanks!

Also, i forgot to mention..I did a memtest86 and there were some errors on test 5. I read somewhere this could be timing related, that is why I have been focusing on the RAM. Thanks!

Hey guys, before anyone goes off and calls me a newb, yes I did read the thread heading and I know this is only for DS3's. I'm an S3 owner and I'm having one hell of a time trying to install my intel INF drivers properly. I'm just wondering if any of you DS3 owners have had any problems like mine. I'm currently using a pair of G.skill pc2-6400 sticks cas5 and a E6600, if that helps any. Any help is appreciated! thanks!

There are some very MINOR differences between S3 and DS3. I suspect your problems are due to the G.Skill sticks assuming everything is properly installed i.e. PS , HSF, ect...

Will someone please do me a favor? I just got this:

e6300
DS3
Patriot 2 GB kit
X-clio goodpower 500w PSU

I am using my existing drives, case and video card which is an connect3d x800 GTO. When I first powered it on, everything seemed normal (except for the CPU fan taking a second to spin up... scared me at first). I tried to do an xp-64 install and it locked up in the middle of installation. I am thinking this is a video card problem because it has gone through hell recently (failed fan on zalman cooler, put original hsf back on... worked afterwards, and just recently, an unknown part fell off from the damn thing).

After several power cycles, I could not get anything to come from video. I then put in an old PCI video cad and could not get a display from it either in this board. So can someone please take out their PCI-e vid card and put in a spare PCI vid card to test this out to see if a PCI video card is supported. Thank you!

Yes, a PCI video card is supported. I ran mine for a couple days with an old ATI Rage Theater.

*sigh* I cleared the CMOS and tried my pci-e and pci vid cards again. This time the computer would power on for about 1 second then power off again. Then about another second later it would power on again an repeat powering off/on. This a mobo/ PSU issue? Can the mobo or PSU be "DOA" even though they both seemed to work okay for about 30 mins?

I'm going to stick my pci-e card in my fileserver tomorrow and see if it works in it.

Hi guys, I am running an E6300 on a Gigabyte DS3. This is my memory http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820145566

Anyways, I have never overclocked before and have been trying my best to read around in order to figure out what to do. I recently finally decided to give it a go and thought everything was set, but apparently something has gone awry. I only overclocked my original fsb of 266 to 286 and received nothing but random computer restarts after every 10-20 minutes. My RAM is rated as 1.9v, but when I overclock and use EasyTuner5, it shows that my RAM is switched to 2.1v...not sure if that could be a problem. Regardless, this is such a minimal overclock that I am rather dumbfounded as to what is wrong. Here is some info from my bios:

CPU Clock Ratio: 7x
CPU Host CLock Control: Enabled
CPU Host Frequency: 286
PCI Express Frequency: 100
CIA 2: Disabled
System Memory Multiplier: Auto
DIMM OverVoltage Control: Normal
PCI-E OverVoltage Control: Normal
FSB OverVoltage Control: Normal
MCH OVC: Normal
CPU Voltage Control: Normal

All my parts are pretty much brand new and seems to run fine on stock...but I didn't get this system to watch it run on stock.

** I have heard if you press CTRL+F1 or CTRL+1 then extra memory options will show up in the BIOS..but nothing comes up when I do this in BIOS. Also, how do i set memory dividers as well as access the VCORE setting, since I am unable to highlight it in BIOS. Thanks.

ANY help or advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks for reading and I hope to hear from some of you guys soon.

hey there everybody... i'm a newb to building and i just picked up the following:

gigabyte ds3 motherboard
intel e6400 "cornrow" =P
2gb sticks of corsair 5400 xms2
nvidia x1900gs (wOOT!)
x-fi xtrememusic
320gb seagate barracuda
zalman ___47 northbridge heatsink
thermaltake big typhoon cpu heatsink/fan

anybody see any issues w/ compatability? i was holding out for mushkin or corsair 6400 ddr2 ram, but i got impatient with tigerdirect... and seeing how i'm not planning on building the cyberdyne computer that will take over mankind *overclocking is only moderately important to me... i will be mainly using the rig for music production (don't ask why i got the x-fi... i just saw a deal and compulsively jumped on it) and occasional gaming* i'm mainly concerned about the memory and the motherboard... anybody use this combo?

You need to be on the main BIOS screen when you press Ctrl-F1. If you've already entered the advanced options or other sub-menu, then back out to the main screen first.

I had problems with my ds3, the first time I installed the Intel drivers I couldn't get into windows until I used the last known good configuration option. Then I tried again and lost all my usb devices until I rolled back the drivers. Finally I gave up, I dont think they matter anyway really.

When I rebooted after installing the INF drivers windows wouldn't load. It said pci.sys was missing and I had to go into the recovery console to replace it. No problems after that but it was a pretty big annoyance.

How's this board with everyone's PCI cards?

I'm looking at the Gigabyte P965-DS3 with a E6300 and want to continue using my old
Sound Blaster Audigy which is PCI 2.2 compliant (& has Firewire).

I notice on Newegg a few posts about the MB being PCI 2.3 compliant and not being able to use old cards.

Anyone have any issues with this?
