I've tried changing PSUs and video cards but the same problem persists. I'm guessing it has to do with the motherboard, RAM or processor (or its fan).

I'm looking to buy some Corsair XMS2 PC6400 too, which ones did you get? CAS 4 or CAS 5?

Edit: Nevermind! I quoted your post and left the window open for an hour before I replied. Should have refreshed after getting lunch .

It seems to have trouble with some Corsair memory, try booting with a single stick of generic DDR2 if you can borrow it from somewhere, and change the VRAM to 2.1V (which your corsair sticks need iirc).

Yeah I'm looking to borrow a stick of generic DDR2. Hopefully someone I know will have one.

Edit: It once booted long enough to let me change the VRAM voltage to 2.1V. Unfortunately, it didn't solve the problem as it powered off again just a few seconds later. And as before, each time I switch it on.

I have a DS3 using 2G of Corsair XMS2 PC6400, but it's the CAS 5. F4 BOIS, zero problems with the rebooting thing (not that it helps with your problem, but someone asked about using Corsair).

Here's my current idle temperatures that I get with these tools:

Core Temp: Core #0: 53°C; Core #1: 51°C
TAT: CPU 0: 53°C; CPU 1: 50°C
SpeedFan: 31°C
Hardware Monitor: 31°C

Which one do I believe? Before I got my E6400 I was only relying on SpeedFan. At that time I was using the F7 BIOS and compared Hardware Monitor with SpeedFan and since they were usually the same I used SpeedFan.

With the F8i BIOS for some reason SpeedFan stopped working so I removed it and used Core Temp. I notice my idle and load temps were much higher so I started looking for a water solution! I just reloaded SpeedFan and noticed the large temperature difference. Now I'm wondering if my SpeedFan temps are ok.

I'd like Gary Key to comment on this considering that during his reviews he must be using something to monitor temperatures. Of course this doesn't preclude comments by anybody else.

Edited:
I booted to BIOS and found the following:
CPU Temperature: 32°C

When I returned to Windows I found the following:

Core Temp: Core #0: 52°C; Core #1: 48°C
SpeedFan: 31°C

The new core program is being used by many as seen here: http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/CoreTemp/

http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php

Speedfan has a beta out that reads temps similar to the core temp program. 12v line & cpu fan speeds still don't read correctly.

I believe the difference is the new programs use the cpu built in sensor while old speedfan and easy tune use interpretative data outside chip readings.

Remember sensor temp readings can be wildly inacurate!

Do you have the 4-pin ATX power connector installed? If not, you can end up with the issue you are having. The F4 works fine with the Corsair memory you have.

Gigabyte BIOS Update-

There is a new beta for the DQ6. I do not think it is ready for public release yet but if it comes close after testing this week then we will try and get it released. We are trying to get any public betas in a "good enough" state so that it will not cripple your system.

Gigabyte is hoping to get the DS3 F8 finalized next week and the DS4 F7 shortly afterwards. The current DS4 Beta is close to a public release. There are some code changes in the DQ6 BIOS so I do not have a date yet.

I hope everyone appreciates the fact that Gigabyte is really taking your comments seriously and they are doing their best to address issues. I can tell you from my experiences with them at this time they are burning the midnight oil on quickly solving any potential issues that arise.

Has anyone else had similar experiences? Is it in fact normal?

I have found that when I keep the power plugged in at the mains, that the computer will come on right away when hitting on the on button, but when taken out of the mains it will go through the on off on process. Maybe its checking the power connectivity or something?

Please share.
If U know how to fix it plz Help
Thank U very much

PS. before that it's normally, after i updated BIOS to version F7 by @BIOS program.it be like that.

No one help me solve this problem T T plz help

I wonder if it isn't the fan on /off sensor causing that. In PC health for either CPU or the other header. My computer does the same thing. It doesn't concern me but I'll check tonight.

Thanks

After reading Measuring CPU Core Dual Core Temps I think I'll use Core Temp 0.94.

That new speedfan beta actually does fan control on the DS3 now. I can finally adjust the 80mm that I have on my northbridge.

Yeah, I checked the connectors and it was attached to the motherboard.

This sounds like a power problem and if you're sure that the 4-pin ATX power connector is snapped in then maybe your PSU is the problem. You didn't say what video card you're using. Does it need a power connector? If you haven't already done so then install only the minimum components and see what happens. Do you have access to another PSU?

Edited:
I found the eXtreme Power Supply Calculator that can give you an idea if you have the correct PSU for your system. If your PSU came out of an old system then it might not be holding up under this new load. If it's a new PSU then the chances are the problem is something else.

I finally fixed the problem I was having. Thanks for the suggestions

Turns out it was indeed a BIOS incompatibility as I was able to boot using some generic 256MB DDR2. I then proceeded to flash up to F7 and my Corsairs now run without a hitch

I bought my DS3 in August from Newegg and it is C2. But I'm really not sure how much difference that makes with anything.

Edit......I thought someone asked about chipset revs in an earlier post, but now I don't see it.

I decided to try F8I again and after some initial weirdness, it seems to be fine at my same overclock as on F7. 288fsb and 766 mhz ddr. The bios recovery features seem to act a lot different than with F7 (hence the weirdness). But it is memtest86 and super pi stable here. Very nice overclock for my 2.8ghz presler. I still think this is a great board.

My DS3 is a C1 and it hits 466 24/7 stable and hits 475 8 hours stable (stopped it on my own)...The memory starts getting errors past this point, but in all honesty it is the ZX Gskill sticks that are doing 950ddr2 at 2.3v....That is pretty much their limit, and I dont want to give them 2.4v...though they stay cool...

What is this talk the DS3 wont run quad cores? I saw reports a guy ran one on this board with no issues and this was long before the C2 revisions were surfacing...gary what about this? Have you guys done a thorough testing of compatablity with yuour various 965p mobos you have?

Also I have use a 50mm fan since I dropped my E6600 multi down to 7x and ran above 450...Really helped cause it was dammmnnnnn HOT!!!!!! I also took of the NB HSF and placed some AS5 on it.....

Both of my S3 mobos have done 490-500fsb....I dont have a 50mm chipset fan on it yet (just bought one) but have a strategic case fan aiming at it and it keeps it luke warm.....

F8i bios seemed falky with these otherwise surprising performance of my ZX elipida (???) sticks....May have fixed some D9 micron issues at the sacrifice of these non D9 sticks

According to Gigabyte, the F7 BIOS added quad-core (Kentsfield) support.

I've not done any FSB limit exploring on my DS3. I'm just so stupidly happy with 3.2GHz out of a 2.1GHz chip that I don't wanna blow anything up!

How reliable is the CPU temp monitor in Easy COol 5? Shows my CPU as being 44 degrees celcius. Havent done any OC"ing yet. I see everyone else has temps in the low 30's. Any ideas on how to remidy this. I do have a Arctic freezer pro 7 on the way. Thanks in advance
