Thanks for the quick replies. It's nice to know that other people have had the same problem.
The fan froze again this morning and that was after changing the BIOS Fan Spped Contol to Legacy. I've now turned it to Disable so the fan will hopefully just run at full speed all the time. And I changed the Speed Control Mode to Voltage. I can't hear the fan at full speed and it has definitely lowered my temp. Temp Core is reading 29 at idle which is a lot better than 70.
Is it possible to run the CPU fan straight off of the power supply or does it always have to go through the mother board? My case fans certainly have no problem with a direct connection.
