Hi all I am ordering parts for my new system right now.
It will be:
Gigabyte P965-DS3 rev 3.3
2gb OCZ Platinum rev 2.0 (PC2 6400)
Intel E4300
eVGA 8800GTS 320mb
Corsair HX520watt PSU
and a Freezer 7 Pro + Enermax Chakra case to keep it cool.
Obviously I'll be overclocking
My question is, what problems or difficulties can I expect with this? The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is that I will have to adjust the default voltage of the ram from the DS3's 1.8v to the 2.1v advertised for my ram (in order to get it to run at advertised timings).
Question about the ram voltage: I read somewhere that if your ram requires say 2.1v for example, then obviously you have to change from the DS3's default 1.8v. It said that because of this, when you clear the CMOS (overclocking or whatever) you will have to put in some old or other sticks in order to boot, change the voltage to 2.1v and be able to boot with your original ram. Shouldn't one at least be able to get into the BIOS, even after a CMOS clear, with the default 1.8v in order to change to 2.1v?
I've been reading through this thread and I am getting the impression that when I put everything together for this comp it's not even going to boot up! Anyway, just looking for some advice while I wait for this stuff to arrive.
