Did you solve the problem? I am experiencing the same problem. Every time from a cold boot bios would reset to default. current config:
E6420 at 400mhz,
Crucial Ballistix ddr2 800 at 400mhz, 1:1 dividor, 4, 4, 4, 12
XFX 7600GS .

From the beep it seems the mobo doesn't like this RAM.

Do I need to install any extra drivers or update anything in the bios to have my harddrives work (they will be connected to the Intel ports)? I've also heard problems regarding any IDE devices connected to the board though some people have said that setting the jumper to Cable Select would fix that problem.

Other than for increasing the RAM's voltage to 2.1V, is there anything else I should look into changing in the bios (such as the settings for the CPU fan)?

Does it matter which fan header I place the connectors of the 3 fans that come with the Antec case? Does it even matter if I connect them since each of them come with a small switch to control their speed?
The issues you mention with drives, IDE devices mostly concerned earlier versions of the board which were sorted out with bios updates and newer versions of the board, so I doubt you'll have any of these issues with your 3.3 version.

Re fan headers, I would not connect the case fans to the mobo. I think the mobo has only one header (other than the CPU) which is best used for a mobo fan (i.e. northbridge) should you install one. The mobo header can regulate the speed of the fan depending on temp, so it would be a waste to use it for a case fan.

Has anyone questioned the accuracy of the BIOS temp readings on this board? I'm running a homebrew water-cooling setup and coming up with temps as low as 13C, which was easily 6-10C *below* ambient. That was in winter, now of course it's running in the high-30s/low-40s, but how can it show below-ambient with a watercooling setup, especially one with a 2-gallon reservoir (reservoirs retain heat)?

the teperature in my bios is indeed about 12 degrees low. use speedfan etc to get an accurate reading.

Anyone know if the cold boot issue is still present with the F11 or F12 bios? I'm using F7 right now (which is perfect) but I'm getting some D9 memory and I remember reading something about the newer bios versions fixing D9 issues.

Hi guys,
Does anybody on this forum uses quad-core cpu, and if so, what BIOS do you use ?
I intend to get quad-core cpu e.g. q6600, but I'd like to stick to F7 BIOS.
Will this CPU work with F7 BIOS ?

Anyone having problem with installing Vista on a sata drive with this mobo? I connected my wd raptor 150gb to the intel sata controller and enable the ahci and the native sata options in bios. The vista installation would just reboot during the completing installation process. Now if I disable the native sata port0-3 option in the bios, everything is fine. I want the maximum performance for my drive since its a raptor. TIA

Currently I have Gigabyte DS3 rev 3.3 F10. Interested in updating to F11 but wary of the benefits over the risk of flashing bios since I have no experience in updating Bios. Would I get a significant gain over my existing GPU OC? PCI-E in bios is set at 100Mhz

System:

E6600 (3.520Ghz 1.50 Vcore bios) (Vdroop = Vcore 1.44v)
Gigabyte P965 DS3 v3.3 F10

BFG 7900GS OC 256MB (Stock 540/660) (OC GPU 599 MEM 1.7Ghz )
300gig enclosure and 120 gig
Sound Card stock
XCLIO 500W +12V1@18A (36A total)
(x6 fans) Antec 900 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower
ZALMAN CNPS9500 AT
6 fans total (1) 200mm, (5) 120mm
CPU - Idle : 35C - 39C
CPU - load : 57C - 59C

For me, speedfan is completely off on almost every reading except for hard drive readings.

Voltages will read something like 0.15V for -12V and 16.13V for +12V, which is obviously wrong or my motherboard would be toast. And I know I'm not the only one with the speedfan problem.

Maybe there's a fix, I just haven't found it yet.

Gigabyte says F7 was update for Quad .. I would leave it alone unless you have problems..

I'm getting Quad soon also .. I have F4 which has worked great for me. I hate to have to change BIOS, but may have to with Quad ..

Based on what you are saying, I will just go with F7 if i have to flash ..

Probably not. I have a similar to yours PC with F12 BIOS from Gigabyte. More than a week of testing it shows the same overclockig results as with F10 BIOS, except significantly less could-boots. It is not a big deal for me , because a have already installed an external CMOS clear button. I know the exact frequency limitation of my mobo too. So I tried to keep overclockig/downclocking like this :
1. CPU clock freq. - 370Mhz, CPU - 2590Mhz (370*7), CPU Voltage- 1.0875V
System voltage control in BIOS - manual ; All voltages except CPU's - Normal
2. CPU clock freq. - 400 Mhz, CPU - 2800Mhz (400*7), CPU Voltage- 1.11875V
System voltage control in BIOS - manual ; Overvoltage to FSB and G(MCH) +0.1V
3. CPU clock freq. - 450 Mhz, CPU - 3150Mhz (450*7), CPU Voltage- 1.16875V
System voltage control in BIOS - manual ; Overvoltage to FSB and G(MCH) +0.1V
4. CPU clock freq. - 500 Mhz, CPU - 3500Mhz (500*7), CPU Voltage- 1.33125V
System voltage control in BIOS - manual ; Overvoltage to FSB and G(MCH) +0.1V
5. CPU host clock control -Disabled, CPU - 1867Mhz (266*7), CPU Voltage- 1.00000V
System voltage control in BIOS - manual ; All voltages except CPU's - Normal

All this on Gigabyte GA 965P-DS3 rev.1.0 ; CPU Intel Core2Duo 6300 : PSU - Delta and Akasa ZEN case.
And REMEMBER the solution for could boot problem is overvoltage to FSB in BIOS by 0.1V and proper cooling for the Northbridge.

Hi,
Im a newbee and i just assembled my system based on Gigabyte GA 965 DS3. I used 2 X 1 Gb Kingston ram at 667 Mhz (KVR667D2N5/1G) in slots 1 and 3. System is stable and works fine. But the problem is that when i check the system information or 3D mark system specification, it always shows 1 Gb (512+512) instead of 2 Gb. Although the total physical memory in the motherboard bios setup screen is shown to be 2048 M.
Im really confused and would appreciate if someone could help me out in this regard. the rev no of the mother board is 3.3

Thanks in advance.

I can't get my dvd drive to open and when I turn it on everything spins up but nothing happens on my monitor. My old set-up had a problem where windows would freeze while loading so I planned on wiping the drive clean with wipe drive but I cant even open the tray.

Sounds like a power supply problem ..

The DVD drive should open, just attached to the PS by itself ..

im having the same cold boot issues. everytime i OC and turn my machine off for the night, when i turn it back on in the morning, it boots with the FSB bios settings disabled and the PCI-E frequency on automatic. UGH!

i have tried many of the bios versions available and they all seem to have this issue. im using F12 now.

i have the e6400, DS3 (rev3.3)
-corsair XMS6400 (5-5-5-12)
-seasonic PSU
- NVIDIA quadroFX540

not sure what to do next. has anyone fixed or resolved their cold boot issues?

I'm trying to install Vista Ultimate...here's my setup

E6600 C2D
2x1GB Corsair 800
2x400GB Seagate SATAII HDD connected to purple inputs, RAID-1
EVGA 7600 GT

First, when I boot up I get the nasty vertical line problem in the pre-BIOS screen, then an almost unusably garbled screen during the Vista install. Not enough to make it impossible, so my plan was to finish the install and hope its a driver issue.

Early in the Vista install process I was prompted for drivers since it did not recognize the RAID array,so I threw the latest DS3 Vista RAID drivers from Gigabyte on a memory stick and it recognized them and the install continued. However, at the next prompt I was presented with a dialog telling me to "Please insert Windows Installation Disc 1". Naturally this seemed quite strange since I was using the 32-bit DVD, so there was only the one disc. I tried a few things but could not get past the error.

Now I'm going to try starting fresh with the 64-bit version. Anyone seen similar issues to this?

Thanks.

Just an update:

I am no longer getting the "insert Disc 1" problem, but now Vista is blue screening after the first post-install reboot. In safe mode it appeared that the failure occurred when loading crcdisk.sys. Further searching seemed to indicate this was a HDD SATA driver issue. Anyone else have horror stories from installing Vista onto a RAID array on this mobo?

For what it's worth - Got my Q6600 installed on the DS3 with F4 BIOS, and it
works just fine..

It reports some silly numbers when booting .. It says the CPU clock is 9 x 66mhz .. ( 594mhz )

Apparently it is dividing 266 by 4, and reporting the result .. LOL

QUAD is good, when doing video encoding ..

I'm stuck on a memory/mobo issue and looking for help.

I've got a E6600 (NOT OVERCLOCKED) in a Gigabyte DS3 3.3 using F10 bios and 4x1GB PC6400 G.Skill 4-4-4-12 2.0-2.1v sticks of ram (2 packs of matched pairs).

I have to set the RAM voltage at +0.3 (which =2.1v) to be stable. I've got no problem with this.

I can get each pair (2x1GB) to work alone at 4-4-4-12 or 5-5-5-15. It will run memtest86+ for 24hrs with no errors using either matched pair However, if I put in all 4 stick (4x1GB) it gives me this error about once every hour or 2:

TST 4, PASS 7, FAILING ADDRESS (blahblah) 1790.5MB, GOOD (blahblah), BAD (blahblah), ERR-BITS 00000200, COUNT 5

The 1790.5MB and ERR-BITS code is always the same.

Orthos (blend CPU/RAM) inside Windows runs for 10hrs+ with no error.
Error only seems to show up in memtest86+.

This only occurs when I put in all 4 sticks.

If I bump up the RAM overvolt up to +0.4 (2.2v) I still get the same error. If I relax the timings to 5-5-5-12 I get the same error. I don't really feel comfortable going with higher volts.

Would increasing FSB or (G)MCH help here? Do I have a defecive mobo? I've already RMA'd one pair of memory thinking it was the memory but I'm getting the same error with the new memory no matter which slots I put them in.

Anyone think they know what's going on?

I'm getting the same CRCDISK.SYS error when rebooting after the Vista install. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks!

What are people getting on SiSoft memory throughput? Mine is really low, around 5,300 compared to the same components in an ASRock 4Core Dual VSTA, which was about 1k higher. Any idea as to why?

I'm desperate here folks.

With an E6600, I can't, for the life of me, get anywhere above 3.0 Ghz. I've tried just about everything I can think of. In fact, just to reach 3.0, I had to up the vcore up to 1.475! I have good G. Skill PC6400 mem at 5-5-5-15 and 2.1 v. My MCH, FSB, and PCI-e volts are all up 0.1 volts. PCI-e is set at 100. I have disabled C1E, CIA2, VT, etc. and all the necessary options so I can OC. I'm using Bios F11.

It seems my most stable OC at low voltage is 2.8 ghz. with 1.375 v. Did I just get unlucky with parts that don't want to overclock, or could I try something else? Update BIOS?
