I can't complete the Beginner Series because the oldest cars I see are in the 90`s. I can't do any of the classic car races. I'm lvl 6 so do I need to level up to unlock more cars to purchase so I can get an older car? No old Euro or Japanese cars anywhere in the used or new dealerships for me.

Click on the "cars commonly in this series" button and it should give you some ideas. It can be annoying.

Currently rocking the classics with a '69 Z28.

Maybe we should start a car gifting thread so whoever needs a car can request one. I'm sure we all could use a few cars right now.

So have we confirmed that someone can lend a car and that person can give it right back once they're done with it?

I'd assume so.

AFAIK, you can only make one car trade per day.

I have another truck that I picked up (Ford SVT Lightning) that I'd be willing to trade for someone who needs it.

I finally picked up a bluetooth headset today so I could play some online going forward. Quick question about online...can you only use cars you own online? My garage is pretty empty at the moment still because of 3 straight days of nothing but holiday family stuff.

the more i play the game, the more i love it.
anyone who drives stick in real life is not experiencing the full potential of GT5 if they're not using a G25/G27.

also, the load times are still really annoying.

Hey guys, seems like most of you are able to get online, since day 1 I haven't been able to get online once, every single time it says unable to establish a connection to the server.

Anyone had this issue and made headway on it? I thought at first it was just the server being down, but its been several days and two patches now, and last night I still couldn't get on. I haven't tried today yet.

My connection is 15mb comcast cable -> Belkin wirelessN/gigabit router/switch -> wired into ps3.

I love my G25.

I've never even driven a stick in real life.
But I've demanded no less than clutch support and solid stick-shift support in video games. Sad that one cannot stall in most racing games, but at least I can miss a shift and get stuck in neutral.

It's also kind of a good tool to help get me almost into that muscle-memory zone for the future. I do plan on my next vehicle being a stick, but I know no one who drives a stick (other than my BIL who, with my sis, lives over a thousand miles away), and have never had the chance to drive one...
It'd be kind of cool if I can using racing sims to get myself comfortable with driving a Standard, so when I finally test drive one some day, I don't look like a retard.
Of course, I'll have to play Race 07 a little bit - that game you can stall since you actually have to start the car and throw it into gear too. That's the trickiest part, I reckon.

Using racing games, I've even gotten fairly decent at heel-toe downshifting for corners.

Of course, it all remains to be seen if I can actually do all this once I get a car with manual shifting, and of course a new car will require a certain amount of time for familiarization.

Do you know what your NAT Type is? If you go to the network settings in the XMB, there's an option to make it report back your network configuration back to you, which will show your NAT Type. Type 1 and Type 2 means you should be good to go, but if it's Type 3, then that could be your problem.

If that's not it, then I'm of no help.

I drive manual tranny in real life and hate it in a racing game.

I may be missing something but to those using a wheel.. have you been able to get a controller to also work at the same time? Photo mode with the wheel is almost impossible..

Yeah. The controller has to be set as controller #1 though. If you have your wheel connected via USB and then turn on your PS3 with a dualshock, the wheel will always be recognized first and assigned as controller #1 with the dualshock assigned as controller #2.

Just launch the game with the dualshock and then hold down the PS button and use the option to reassign your dualshock to #1. Then you're good to go. Or you could turn on your PS3 with the dualshock and then connecting the wheel afterwards.

I use my dualshock for all menu navigation.

Hmmm, not showing a NAT type of anything... just has a dash... odd.

Tried setting the ps3 to dmz, didn't help one bit.

In other fun news, just got the Veyron, modded it to basically 1200HP. Top speed on a practice run of special stage route 7 hit 265mph :O. Having a 7th gear is awesome.

Have you played a lot? I have nothing that good in my garage except for the Gamestop pre-order stuff. I never have any money.

Everybody here can easily add me as my PSN name is in my sig.

I play quite a bit, been playing alot over turkey weekend. I actually deleted a save and restarted because I spent all my money on a few not so good cars. Heres how I went through the 2nd time and it seems much better.

I bought the Civic Type R with the starting cash then did FF and Sunday Cup until I hit lvl 6. Then I bought the '69 corvette stingray to use on the Classic and FR races. Then just keep using the cars you win for the series that they are elegible for. You can get through the majority of the A-Spec races without having to buy anymore cars. You can use the vette later for the other muscle car races and use the civic for the 90's Japanese race.
The licenses and special series give other cars you can use too, like the truck for instance. I didnt have to buy another car until the lambo/ferrari only races which by that time I had about $900k racked up.

Now, Im stuck on the GT all stars race. Tried the lambo and a Epson NSX race car without success. Might try this Veyon and see if its better.

Ahh so you kept leveling up before you moved on to the other races. I've had to buy one car just for each of the special races. Makes me poor.

I did that too, the first time. Bought a new car each race series, and didnt have enough money to buy a nice car for the harder ones. I wish there was a $500k race that you could repeat lol.

Yea it sucks they took away getting money on repeat races. Making it hard for people to get money cus I can't pass a lot of the Special Events or License Tests on Gold.
