Gt5 Christmas presents

First picked up by our own Amar212, SCEJ (Sony Japan) has announced that three free cars for Gran Turismo 5 will be available to download from the PlayStation Store on December 24th. The free cars will be “Chrome Line” editions of the Lamborghini Murcielago LP 640, Jaguar XJ13, and a BMW M3 Coupe. Keep in mind this news report has – so far – only come out of Japan (though Japanese gaming site AndriaSang rather confidently states that “Anyone with GT5 will be able to make the download for free.&#8221

Also the next update "might" update more standard cars to premium models which would be nice! Though ive also read reports where they wouldnt be part of patces but instead be dlc so who know son that for sure

Well it says for Japan only then goes on to say anyone so I guess we'll all see if we can get in on it as well.

As you’ve probably discovered by now, Gran Turismo 5’s Photomode feature can be surprisingly fun and addictive. You’ve probably also noticed, however, that you can’t easily take a pictures of a car’s interior – until now. GTPlanet user IeGI has discovered an easy way of getting the camera “inside” a premium car, and he’s shared a detailed set of instructions here in our forums so you can do the same.

The resulting shots, taken by him and other users which you’ll see in the gallery below, are nothing short of spectacular and some of the most impressive Photomode images I’ve seen from the game. It is a beautiful showcase of the careful attention to detail given to premium car’s interiors – and makes it all the more perplexing as to exactly why Polyphony Digital has not made it easy to take interior Photomode shots in the first place.

HUGE update today:

http://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-5-v1-05-update-brings-new-events-more-available-now/

Seasonal Events: [Seasonal Events] have been added to the [GT Mode] – [GT Life] screen. From here you can participate in official online events from the Polyphony Digital team. In these events, all participants are under the same regulations, and if you complete the event you will win rewards and experience. Compete on the leader boards with players around the world, in Time Trials and Drift Trials!

Online Collector’s Dealership: An [Online Collector's Dealership] has been added to the left and centre of the [GT Mode]-[GT Life] screen. In here you will find popular and rare cars. You might just come across that one car you’ve always been looking for, that you haven’t been able to find in the [Used Car Dealership].

Online Race Rewards and Experience: When you complete a race in the [Open Lobby] or [My Lounge], you will now gain rewards and experience points. Even if you are focused more on playing online, you’ll still be able to gain rewards and levels that you need to progress in [GT Life].

Driving Distance and Number of Wins in Online Races: The driving distance and the number of wins you achieve when you complete a race in [Open Lobby] or [My Lounge] will now affect your stats in [Profile] and the [Garage]. Here the results from your online play will cumulate within [GT Life].

Improved Rewards: The rewards for winning races in both A-Spec and B-Spec in [GT Mode]-[GT Life] have been increased for a limited time only. (This applies until the end of January 2011.) This is a great chance for those who were previously having difficulties getting ahead in the game, due to a lack of funds for tuning and purchasing required cars.

Race Information Display: It is now possible to set the [Race Info Display] in [Start]-[Quick Options]. (You can also set this in [Race Display] in [Options]).

Save Data Backup: You can now copy and restore your save data. For details, please refer to the in-game [Manual].

User BGM (Menu): From [Options]-[Hardware]-[Audio Settings], it is now possible to set the [User BGM] (Menu)]. (This can also be set from the [Music Library] within [GT Mode]).

Car Name Change: The official name of “Red Bull X1″ has been changed to the “Red Bull X2010″.

Integration with the Website: The main features within [GT Mode]-[Community] can now also be accessed through the “gran-turismo.com” official website.

[Important Note:] We have made improvements to the [Log] within [GT Mode]- [Community] section, in order to make its operation more stable. Please note that the information that was contained here from before the update has been reset.

The money update is definitely going to help me as I'm always low on money. You used to get a bunch of money from completing whole beginner or amateur stuff but not any more. Also the online dealership is going to be useful as well.

Good update.

kind of funky choice there. Why increase for only a month pretty much. Its definitely hard to get cash and keep racing in the early stages (where i am). If i only wanted to do a-spec i wouldnt be able to most likely just cause some of the races require specific cars which cost money and then a bit for tuning. From what i've seen the rewards arent a huge jump but rather only a 5-10k jump which makes it seem like changes that could stay in the game forever.

they dont need *more* credit reward, forza has similar credit rewards, they need car rewards. right now i am at the 3rd level races (pro?) with a 458 and no race to run because all that's left are some old bucket races like japanese pre 70 or italia 80s.

So let me get this straight. They are patching in an increase to in game rewards in order to offset a design flaw in pacing, and then plan to remove it at a later date? If people are struggling to "get ahead" in the game, maybe they should just fix the game instead of shoving in temporary work arounds.

Who said there was a design flaw? This is no different than online shooters offering a "double xp" week or something similar. Some of you will fucking complain about anything, huh?

They wouldn't have adjusted it or given a temporary boost if they didn't think there was a problem with the original system This is plenty different from shooters offering double XP because it affects your ability to progress through the game. This isn't like they're throwing people a bone to get an extra boost, it's to address the complaints they've been getting.

Anybody on GT Academy? These bastards are fast lol. I'm registered for the West region and was ~74 earlier but probably ~100 now at the pace these guys are going. 12 seconds off the overall leader :hmm:

Other than money the other thing I hate is that without doing all the extra special races or license tests you won't have enough experience to move on that much either.

I have only done Licenses for the national B and the carting beginner and intermediate and the nascar beginner. Im like level 12 and havent even done a single pro A-spec race yet. its not experience holding me back at this point. Actually what is, is finding a damn truck! ive yet to see a sports truck. I also need an Italian car too. Even looking at the prize lists it can be hard to find stuff let alone it seems like you get the prize cars "later" in the game and would have to skip races in the amateur series just to come back to them at which point you get reduced xp and stuff.

That i smy experience though and others may differ

Check out the new online dealership they added in the patch yesterday. There are currently two trucks in there for sale along with other stuff.

Will do, hadnt thought to check it out! Well i was going to but last time i played was when the servers were down

Did start playing b-spec a bit (just the level 1 races so far) and its been kind of meh. I just plop him in whatever car i have already thats overpowered for the race. Start the race and set the controller down and have been surfing the web. Only crappy part is the tire requirements which at ~9k for a set takes 2 races just to make up for

Man.. GT Academy is gonna be tough! I did a lap or two last night and I was in the 900ish range. Didn't realize how much I used driving lines as a guide.. so totally new feeling for me. Consistently a few seconds behind the leaders after a few laps.

I downloaded the ghost for the top time on Cape Ring... already 2.4 seconds behind by halfway. D:

Is there a trick to getting experience? I am at level 21 and struggling to get to 22. I have done almost all the special events except for finishing the karts and the rally's(I'll never do the rally's). I haven't gotten gold on all and never will, I don't have the patience. There is only one or two level 21 races which isn't even in the ballpark enough to level up. Do you really just have to run the same shit over and over again?

Why wouldn't you do the Rally's? They are by far the easiest of the special events. I just did the Advanced lvl 20 one with a lancer Evo rally car. Beat the dirt by a minute and a half, the snow by over 2 minutes (the AI is absolutely horrible in the snow), and the tarmac by 1:15. Total won was just under $600k and 45k XP.

Except for the million dollar Ferrari`s, which one is the best? I can afford the rest of them. Need to complete the Ferrari races.
