There's a severe, and I mean severe lack of attention to vehicle sounds. Pick up a game like Forza 3 or GTR 2 and you'll see how in-game sounds should sound. In GT5, a Subaru, which has one of the most distinct engine notes for a common car, sounds like a Civic and nothing like the real thing. I will say the sounds are the best of the series yet, but they still lack pop...realism, they've very unconvincing to me. I would think I'm being too demanding, but other games can get it right, so it's possible. Why can't the virtual museum of a game get it right?
They may not sound like the Subarus you are accustomed to because many idiot Subaru drivers put un-equal length headers on their cars purely to get that unusual noise, knowing full well it makes less power than equal length.
damn how i hate the FWD cars in this game.
I think the 04 Integra Type R is quite brilliant. I was planning on buying the DC2 version because I have personal experience with them and they are typically quite good in games but the newer version appears to be better. Plus, the newer version is a Premium model and can be upgraded with Race Mod.
Anyone notice the weird VW trucks from the 40's? WTF was with that? VW supplied the Nazi army with trucks during WWII, not sure if those are the SAME models, but I think they are... Seems kind of disturbing to include them. Stupid move on part of Sony?
I saw some pictures floating around the net this week of the Nazis celebrating Christmas. It is kind of disturbing that we still celebrate Christmas, knowing that they did as well...
I just got GT5 and PS3 as a gift. First console I've owned since an original Xbox years ago that I barely used. I think the game is great. Do I not have as deep of perspective and experience as many of you? Sure. I played the original GT1 and GT2 over 10 years ago and nothing since. I wasn't waiting around for the game. I'm not comparing every little menu to competitors. I'm taking it as I see it and as someone who is a car guy and races cars for a hobby, I am quite pleased.
Few GT5 questions:
Is there any log of best times for your cars on various tracks? I'd like to know for fact which cars are faster on which tracks and if I am improving over time with a given car.
Do most people use the buttons or the sticks? I was really wary of the sticks but I've gotten fairly used to them now. Any unconventional configurations?
Has anyone considered putting an SSD in the PS3 to decrease load times? They don't bother me too much but it might be a worthwhile upgrade for those who it does.
Does the racing line graphic change depending one what car you are driving or is it one size fits all?
