The local Gamestop is closing at 9pm tonight, and will spend the next three hours setting up for the midnight launch. They'll be open from Midnight-1:00 to start handing them out.Originally posted by: rh71
ok I asked my friend... he works there... they'll open at midnight for a couple hours... I'll just pick it up early Tuesday since I won't be playing it Monday after midnight anyway...Originally posted by: blurredvision
I have no idea, as I've actually wondered that myself. If you head to EBGames, they have a listing of the stores that will open at midnight to sell copies of the game. One of my local EBGames is in a mall, and it's listed, so somehow they plan on doing this. Seems like there was a game in the past couple of years where they did a midnight release party all over (Vice City perhaps?), and the EB in the mall ended up not opening.Originally posted by: rh71
How does this work ? My Gamestop (where I had my friend pre-order for me) ... it's one of those in a small shopping center. Are those going to stay open till midnight ???Originally posted by: blurredvision
So who is getting the game at midnight Monday night?
Or do they just open them up for a little while at midnight for the release?
We'll see I guess.
They are going to have free pizza and hot chocolate for the people standing in line. And many of the local retailers will be peddling their goods at "special Halo launch" prices. Should be fun!
I'm sure they do mean on just consoles, as EGM is a console-only mag. No PC games at all.Originally posted by: magomago

- Halo 2 overcomes its greatest challenge by topping the only first-person shooter that really comes close to challenging it: the original Halo. "
Please let them mean just on consoles or something...i hate it how my console only friends talk about it like it revolutionized everything, and every FPS afterwards was based on halo~
But I'll say it anyway...Originally posted by: blurredvision

The Mjolnir Mix (guitar by Steve Vai) of the original theme song is sweet!Originally posted by: Wingznut
Anyone going to pick up the Halo 2 soundtrack?
Includes songs by Incubus, Breaking Benjamin, Hoobastank, Steve Vai, Nile Rogers, etc... As well as Martin O?Donnell and Michael Salvatori (the composers behind Halo) of course.
You can listen to some of it here.

Still deciding if I want to go get it. I'd go if I knew I could just pick it up and leave, but I don't want to head 20 minutes one way on a work night that late if I will be waiting for an hour. Not worth it when I can just pick it up tomorrow afternoon during my lunch break.Originally posted by: warcrow
So, for those of your picking up the game tonight, are you going to play the single player campaign, or jump into MP?

Right now, I'm not going, but I have to keep talking myself out of it .
I could call in, but I have this thing about calling in to work, I just can't do it. I feel so guilty for some reason if I don't work when I know I can. Just last Tuesday, as a matter of fact, was the first time I didn't work the full day in the year and a half I've been at my current job. I was pretty sick (first time I've thrown up in YEARS, I'm talking maybe since I was in first grade), and even then, I still came into work. They made me go home after only being there 20 minutes .Originally posted by: warcrow

I read your previous posts. Gotta work early, hrm, if you decide to go pick it up maybe you should just consider calling in sick, ordering in some pizza and making a day of it.
Look at it this way, if you go pick it up tonight, you know you'll be playing all night. This will pretty much make you tried and useless at work (depending on what you do I guess). Might as well stay at home and be useless to work, but playing H2.
...yea, or you could just not get it until tomorrow.
You know, this delima you're in just made me realize that I would be in the same perdicament with HL2. I have a new appreciation for Steam now.

Unless it's a well-hidden Easter egg, it doesn't appear to be on there. Oh well.Originally posted by: blurredvision
I've heard a rumor that the limited edition contains the entire first season of Red vs Blue. Anyone know if there's any truth to this?

BAH... I got a call on my cell from an 817 area code (I'm nowhere near Texas) and it was an automated message... "Hello... this is Gamestop... Halo .." (click)... I lost the damned signal.
I wonder if it was just a reminder about it being released today or something specific to my pre-order. Since it was automated... I can't find out what's up... tried calling the number and get a fast-busy. !@*($&(!@$@!$
Anyone else get a call ?
