**OFFICIAL HALO 2 THREAD**

Been back home for about an hour now from grabbing Halo2, not far in to the game at all but so far it is looking like they fixed the major complaint about the original- the areas are not looking nearly as repetitive. They also added quite a few new enemies that you run in to quickly, and the Hunters got a major overhaul as well(as well as the pistol being b!tchified- bad combo for me).

Anyway- got to my local EB at about 11:30 and much to my surprise there was a bit over two hundred people already there.... they were handing out numbered tickets so it isn't a guesstimate- there really were that many people. Unfortunately, the rest of the mini mall they are in was all closed so we were stuck out side for over an hour and a half in the lovely 20F weather(first snow of the year tonight too, heh). Guys running the release party did a pretty good job, had some weird tasks to try and get yourself a free copy of Halo2 a little bit early(take all your coats/shirts off and run a race, chug a bottle of Pepto etc) they also ran two tournaments, one for Halo around 9 and the other for Halo2 at 2am. Overall a good time, although my better half wasn't too impressed with the weather by the time we got inside

Anyway, figured I'd throw up a couple posts real quick and get back to playing. Don't know what's wrong with the rest of you guys, I requested today off well in advance to make sure I'd have some time to game

and and when i got to the mall at 11:30 there were easily 2000 people there, waiting for gamestop, i hopped in the EB line and was # 103, i stood outside in the snow from 1130-1 got inside at 1, got the game at 130

My girlfriend woke me up this morning and said they showed "hundereds" of people waiting at the store I would've been at last night. Not sure if it was actually hundreds or not, but sounds like I did the right thing in not going. Now I just have hope they still have my limited edition that I reserved back in May, and didn't sell it off.

I went to Blockbuster last night and asked when they were getting Halo 2, the guy taunted me and said "we've already got it..... *pause* but I cant sell it to you! he he." I was about to punch him. Then, I asked if they had any of the CE versions "Oh yeah!" So I told him to hold one for me for tomorrow (today now). I'll get it after work. Sucks too because I just got GTA:SA and it's fun!

There are plenty of other games for the xbox that make it worth the purchase, not to mention Xbox Live is the best online gaming network efar!

*WARNING SPOILERS*

Well....some guy who's been playing it all night just posted on another fourm said this:

Ok, I am kinda dissapointed, i'll say that right off the bat. Halo 2 so far *is* a good game so far, but it just seems like it should be more..

Pluses
- Duel Weilding: This is very cool, but at some times, having two weapons blocks too much of the screen and I cant tell what's going on.
- More Story: yay! I like story driven games like this.
- Multiplayer via XBL: This is cool, but I have yet to play much multiplayer yet.. still on the SP version.

Minuses
- Seems like it's just a bunch of new maps. It feels exactly like Halo 1 with dual weilding at some points.
- Bad graphical glitches thru almost all the cut scenes. It looks like they look the old models and slapped bump mapping on top of them. Normaly this is ok, but there's like a full second pause when switching scenes where you can see the regular models, then the bump mapping spring into existance.. boo..
- Dialog gets drownded out when playing. Sometimes when you are in a battle, and Cortana trys to tell you something, you just can't hear it. And you loose whatever the dialog was. This happend alot in Halo 1 and it drove me nuts.. I wanna hear this stuff, couldnt they have made it where if there is important dialog is would mute down the sounds of the battle so you could hear it?

One thing I'm torn on is wether or not I like playing as the Covenent guy. I know it draws you more into the story, and it tries to give the game more depth, but I would have much rather played as MC thru the whole game and let the Covenent internal struggles be told by cut scenes.

Overall, I'll still play it thru till the end. But I think they overhyped it a lot. To me it feels like it's a "mission pack" or something with a couple of added features bolted on. I hope it gets a little better anyways..

I played the french version and didnt like it at first, but it gets much much better.

The game is awesome and I dont notice anything that the guy you quoted did....then again, I was focusing on gameplay and not trying to find faults with the game.

Well, just got my copy. Played for about an hour (have to go to class now). It seems like pretty much more of the same.

Played for about an hour after I got home, now its time for dinner. So far it's cool... I dont know if I'm really feelin' the storyline yet though.

Played for a little bit tonight myself after I got off work early, and I like it so far. Basically everything I've heard is spot on. The cutscenes don't look the best at times, the story so far is underwhelming (probably because I have no idea what's going on), and it's hard to realize which way you need to go or what exactly you need to do. Where's the damn checkpoints? And I'm only on the second level.

Also, I haven't been able to connect to a game online yet, it just sits there searching. Maybe there's too many people playing?

My thoughts after what I've played, it seems like more regular Halo with an over-aggresive story line thus far. It isn't necessarily a bad thing, but many people were expecting a revolution, which is why I think many people are pissed. Also, I get none of the HUD problems people are getting with widescreen TVs and 480p. My HUD shows fine.

Actually, from what i understand, you can have up to 4 people on one Xbox Live account ....or, multiple people can use their own Live accounts from one Xbox.

Woohoo, the UPS guy just came and dropped off my copy of Halo 2 LE. When I preordered it from mtv I thought I was going to get it by the end of the week because I opted for the free shipping. Looks like they shipped it before the 9th so I could have it on the 9th. Who would have thought mtv would be so considerate as to send my Halo2 early so I could have it on release day.
