Limited edition only include (I think) a "Making Of" DVD, while the Legendary includes "Making Of", a DVD of all the cutscenes from all 3 Halo games, and the small replica Master Chief helmet.

I would've paid $100 for all that, but $150? No way. I reserved the regular edition. Screw you, Microsoft.

I got the Limited Edition Halo 2...and I still have never watched the making of crap. You'll never end up touching it IMO.

I got the LE Halo 2 one as well. It was defiintely worth it IMO. But then again, it was only a $5 difference. It was $50 vs. $55.

Now it's $60 vs. $70 vs. $130. I got the regular one this time.

The bonus DVD on Halo 2 is actually pretty damn interesting. It basically tells you that bungie was rushed by MS to make the product, and that they put together that E3 demo which had nothing to do w/the game, then they rushed Halo 2 to get it met by the date that MS gave them. Halo 2 was not nearly what Bungie wanted it to be when it was atcually released.

That is why Halo 3 is so big for them. Bungie has repeatedly claimed that they have EVERYTHING in Halo 3 that they wanted, whereas in Halo 2 they had to leave a lot of stuff cut out that they wanted to add.

Do you honestly think UT3 will be better on the PS3 compared to PC?

Getting back on topic...

Sort of...

I got Live (finally). I got over my cheap ass ways and got 13 months for $35, really not bad at all. Ive got the standard edition preordered, and I should probably begin going back through Halo 2 about now.

Are the devs going to keep going? or is this the last one?

not better. But given that a ps3 is $400 and a pc to run that is going to cost you $400 just for the graphics card, it's worth it just for the PS3. Frankly I think overall the PS3 is better than PC right now.

BTW: The dev's willl always keep going, so long as there is money to be made. Even MP3 will have another in the future of course, even if it's not by retrostudios.

Concerning Live: I don't want to pay $30 a year for it when I can get online for free on the PS3. Sure, it's not as good, but it's good enough (I'm used to PC gaming).

Think about it, at $30 a year, say you use the console for 5 years. That's an extra $150 you pay on the system just for online play in its lifetime. Suddenly the $500 pricetag on the PS3 doesn't look so bad.

Live is great, don't get me wrong, and if I get a 360 I know I'll get it. I'd just rather not.

Concerning Halo 3 running in 1080p: Whoever said it has "too much detail" to run in 1080p needs to check their vision. I'd argue that The Darkness looks better than Halo 3, and it ran in 1080p (last time I checked). Halo 3 doesn't look "that good". It could totally run in 1080p if the developers had started on that from the beginning.

It looks good, though. Don't twist my words.

I want to play through Halo 3 to see what ends up happening.

live is a thousand times better than the free online gaming on PSN.

you even say you don't have live so you can't really compre the two as someone who's used both extensively.

i have ps3 and I have xbox360, and I'd take paying $40/yr for xbox live for the service it gives me over the free ps3 online gaming any day.

also, the darkness is not 1080p natively. the environments in darkness are COMPLETELY different than Halo 3 as well ... but we won't get into this discussion again

New Halo 3 Ad - "Museum". No Master Chief, no fight scenes...pretty different from what we are used to. Part of the ad campaign that we will get pounded with the next couple of weeks.

Link

A Hero Must Rise. Believe.

Every so often individuals are called upon to rise above themselves and act in a selfless manner ? to help, to protect, to defend those in need. We call these people, who rise up in the face of great adversity, heroes. One such individual?s story is about to be told worldwide. On Sept. 25, ?Halo 3?s? epic hero Master Chief will rise once again ? he?ll face seemingly insurmountable odds with the entire fate of the galaxy riding on his shoulders.

In memory of this hero, and helping build to what promises to be the largest entertainment launch in history on Sept. 25, a series of dramatic and evocative communications elements, created by McCann San Francisco, T.A.G., AKQA, and Microsoft Global Marketing will offer a stirring look at the ?Halo? universe and Master Chief.

Certain to catch the imagination of audiences around the globe, the ads are unlike any video game advertising ever created, and offer a powerful look at the world of ?Halo?. Uniquely, the campaign experience does not focus on ?Halo 3?s? graphics or gameplay, but instead looks at the themes that lie at the heart of the tale that spans the entire ?Halo? trilogy: duty, sacrifice, and most importantly, heroism.

The central element that much of the integrated marketing campaign centers on is a painstakingly accurate replication of a key moment from a climactic battle set in the "Halo" universe. At over 1200 square feet, reaching a height over 12 feet above the ground and with each handcrafted human and Covenant figure standing eight to twelve inches high, the diorama was large enough to fill an entire studio.

I'm sorry but anyone bitching about $150 when it comes to gaming needs to STFU, PC or console. Games, accessories, controllers, etc on consoles all cost a lot of money. If you seriously can't afford nor want to pay $30 for Live ayear then don't, but don't talk about how that extra $150 is such a huge thing.

And The Darkness doesn't look nearly as good as Halo 3, 1080p or not.

Strange, I've heard plenty of people say that the PSN is "better" simply because it is free. I have a friend that was pretty into the 360, but said he didn't miss Live a bit after switching to the PSN. I still know that Live has more/better services, and I have used it before (though not extensively). I never saw it as something worth the price when I was so used to and content with PC online gaming and what it offered.

See, PSN offers more than PC online gaming ever has (at least it has for me), and I always thought online gaming on the PC was great. To me, PSN is great as well, and it's free. It works well. The store is updated weekly and is growing with good content, games run smoothly online, and it's pretty easy to maintain and organize things through the friends list. I've been very happy with it.

Sure, it might not stack up to Live, but I still think it's great.

Ah, it's not 1080p natively. Ok.

I still think Halo should be capable of 1080p. It doesn't look that good compared to a lot of other games out there. I still stand by that opinion.

I'm sorry, I've never had to pay for an online service before, and I don't want to pay for something I could get for free elsewhere and still be content with.

I'm just factoring out games, accessories, etc. If you stuck a PS3+PSN against a 360+Live, the prices would probably even out (if not be more for the 360). I'm not trying to make it a big deal or justify the price, but it is true if you think about it.

But yeah, factor in games and everything else and $30 a year isn't a big deal at all. I'll agree with you there. That is not what I was originally talking about, however...sorry to not make that clear. I'm not trying to upset anyone by saying what I have, and I'm not trying to put a negative light on Live or that it costs money.

I think The Darkness looks much better/more advanced than Halo 3. Sure, it's in an enclosed space, but I still think it looks better. I think plenty of games look better than Halo 3. I think Halo 3 looks like a game running on a hybrid Halo 2/next-gen engine. Overall it looks good enough, but I've seen better.

Like I said, I'm content with PC online gaming (or the whole online "experience"), and I feel the PS3 offers something comparable to what you would find on PC. Since I am content with that, and I am content with that being free, I'd choose a free, good service over a charged service with things I've never really needed.

I know it offers more, and I know Live is technically better. You fail to understand the point I've been trying to make, and my point is purely one based on my opinion towards online services. I am not trying to prove anything factual. I just want to voice how I feel about the varying services and explain why I feel that way.

Sorry to draw a Halo 3 thread into a Live/PSN thread.

oh ok well it just seems that when you compare "PS3 + PSN to Xbox360 + LIVE but you have to pay for Live" that you are implying you are getting the same type of services with PSN and LIVE, when that's just not the case.

but now that it's cleared up that's clearly not what you are saying.

Yeah, by "PS3 + PSN to Xbox360 + LIVE (excluding all games and everything else)" I was just mentioning how the prices evened out, making the $500-600 price tag on the PS3 not look AS bad. That had nothing to do with the actual service. That was just a random thought...sorry for the confusion.
