Let's go ahead and get this thing started. Just a little over 2 weeks until this thing drops, and I've been looking forward to it ever since the beta.

I'm sure much more will be added to this original post over the next few weeks, but here is something to get everyone started......pics of the Legendary edition.

UPDATE: Halo story primer to get you ready for Halo 3. - **WARNING** This article does contain a comment from a Bungie developer stating one of the focal points for the overall story in Halo 3. It doesn't give anyway anything, but does provide a slight direction for the story, something of which is said that will be found out early on in the game anyway.

UPDATE: Halo 3 LE disc replacement program.

As stated from that link:

NOTE: This program covers the Halo 3 Limited Edition Game Disc and Essentials Disc at no charge through 12/31/07.

However, the catch is that you have to send them your disc first. This is sure to displease lots.

UPDATE: Official word in this thread is that the stats are now processing again, and will hopefully completely propogate over the next couple of days. Nobody's stats have been lost, so if you played it, the stats will eventually show up.

Seems my copy will be sitting around waiting for a 360 to play it on. Anyways, who is going to be the first to mod that helmet into a PC or something? As to the game, I'm looking forward to the co-op and MP quite a bit. This is confirmed to be a 1080P game, for those with the HDMI SKUs, correct?

The only thing I'm not looking forward to is the crowd that labors under the delusion that hating on anything popular is cool. They will really be out in force on this one. While they post smack already, it'll reach critical mass before the month is out. The theme is likely to be: Flamebait.... its whats for dinner! :thumbsdown:

That is a pretty sweet idea turning the helmet into a PC. Hopefully someone takes that on.

Im not actually that excited. I could probably wait another year and not be sad about it.

13 months of live can EASILY be found for $30 - $35.

and if there was no xbox live, i don't think I would have an xbox360.

hell xbox live on original xbox is what actually got me back into console gaming. i was out of it for like 2-3 years until I got xbox live.

Hmmm, I hadn't heard about Halo 3 being 1080p native.......that would be awesome if true. However, HDMI, VGA, or component should be able to do 1080p, though. Can anyone confirm this?

I need to read reviews before I buy it. I haven't seen any yet. COD4 mp seems like it will be better this time around but I dunno. If the SP is not uber short and the AI is good, I will get it.

Dood, Halo 2 is STILL the number one game being played on Live. I played for 2 hours yesterday. COD4 is a different style to an extent...to each his own but Halo 3 is going to be bad ass. Read a review? Seriously...there are games on every console that you never need to play a demo or read a review about before you buy it. You just aren't a fan if you have to "read a review". (No offense, not attacking ya)

I've already taken the 25th off, so hopefully I'll see some of you guys around on Live, if anyone else is "sick" that day too. Started playing Halo 2 again just to warm up/get ready...I'm really looking forward to it.

its not 1080p, it's 720p native.

its not 1080p, it's 720p native.

Yeah, It's nearly impossible to have that kind of graphical detail while still maintaining a playable framerate at 1920x1080. It won't be till the next Xbox that native 1080p becomes something games can support.

Well ya I guess I can't be a fan. I never played the old ones because this is the first console I've had since early ps2 days and I just got this. It definitely looks cool though.

I didnt think the Legendary edition was worth it....I got the limited edition...hopefully I dont regret it.

I just got a 360 this past Wednesday, so I'm excited for Halo 3. although I have to get the 360 hooked up to my net and get a xbox live card.

EDIT: What's interesting is that I bought a 360 mostly for Halo 3 (also for Mass effect and Bioshock), but I also bought the original xbox a week before Halo 2 came out.

Well ya I guess I can't be a fan. I never played the old ones because this is the first console I've had since early ps2 days and I just got this. It definitely looks cool though.

You might pickup Halo 2 and give that a shot online. Or Halo and play through the campaign. Halo's campaign owns Halo 2's hands down. Both are bargin bin cheap at this point - you can prob snag both for under $25. I still pop in Halo and play the campaign for the hell of it.

After looking around Bungie, I see you are right. I had read MS was pushing for native 1080p back in April, to combat some Sony claims, and because it is the flagship game. This Bungie rumour buster confirms it is upscaled So unless someone has a 1080p TV that won't support it over component, everyone will be able to enjoy the upscaling just as you said blurredvision.

Actually, Virtual Tennis 3 and Street Home Court are native 1080p on the 360. But they don't really have the graphical detail you mentioned, and I presume you meant that games like Gears couldn't be done in 1080p native on this hardware, which certainly seems to be the case.

My bad for even mentioning that rumor I read months ago. If you google it, you'll see tons of sites that were recycling that native 1080p rumor for H3 months back.

Awesome. Just make sure your fuse doesn't pop from drawing all that power from the same outlet

I'm having a tough time deciding whether or not I should play the campaign through solo, then co-op, or just bust through it co-op. When playing with a competent player (cousins) we've been able to blow through any co-op game we've ever played without any difficulty whatsoever...think that'd ruin the fun/adventure of the game, but obviously would make it funner exploring new things and going "holy sh!t" when something happens.

i'm having this deilemma to, but I'm thinking I'm going to do co-op first.

there were just so many times in GoW playing it through single player that it would have been so cool to have someone on the other side of a mic playing with me to say "HOLY SHIT" when I did too.

I would've paid $100 for all that, but $150? No way. I reserved the regular edition. Screw you, Microsoft.

I got the Limited Edition Halo 2...and I still have never watched the making of crap. You'll never end up touching it IMO.
