try pressing the X button heh.

I could of swore I've tried that and not seen it change, but I'll try again. BTW Reach is worth every dollar on single player campaign alone. I was never a HUGE Halo fan when 1 and 2 came out, but 3 got me hooked and Reach just went so far up and beyond every game in the series with its campaign.

I looked it was 10 hours and 8 minutes of play for us to get through the game. We weren't exactly going slow or anything. We'd leap frog up through. Legendary is MUCH harder this time around compared to Halo 3.

Maybe for default, but Boxer and Bumper Jumper are the exact same I believe.

Well, at least I feel better when others chime in on the control scheme. I played through SP for a few hours and feel more comfortable when it's on Recon - I never used Boxer/Bumper Jumper on H3. I used what worked for H1/2. As others said - not being able to customize it = shit. Who the hell puts "grenade switch" for the X button?

ah yea that actually makes sense now.

I can't say I agree with that - that's been my button setup since H1. It's never been an issue. I agree with your earlier points - an individualized button customization, or at least something that closely mimics what was in the previous 3 games would have been nice.

oh i am not saying i agree with the limited options, but it makes sense if they want the user to be able to melee and turn at the same time, they have to move melee off the face buttons.

personally when I'm meleeing, i am already facing them when i press the button.

Are there hidden collectibles in the single player like the skulls in H3?

Skulls are back, I haven't really spent any time looking for them. When I get done with work today I'll probably go through on normal and explore the levels more.

I still think that Halo 1 was the best game ever released on any console that I've played, except perhaps for the Zelda series games. Tons of gameplay, great control, neat vehicles, etc. This one is good so far, but very dark in the opening sequence at least. I've played about 45 minutes and just got to the ice area and had to stop and go to bed.

I am really liking the Arena system so far. It is all Slayer and geared toward highly competitive players. Your rating is also based solely upon your performance. You can, in theory, lose every game and still achieve the highest rating. It would be hard, because it is based on overall performance, which suffers greatly when you're losing due to map control and weapon control.

Finally, a good idea.

After playing last night, I've favoring Jet Pack for large maps and Hallucination for the small closed in maps.

Maybe because like all the games I play I get a long range type weapon (DMR, sniper, etc) I destroy people with Jet Packs. I can't see them being viable in competitive play except for getting to places where you have an advantage.

so what is the deal with the snipers rifle?

i coulda sworn it did like a 'lock-in' on the enemies head on a couple of my shots and kinda stuck to their head as well. it was like a red circle that zero'd in on the head.

i suck at sniping in these games too...

I hadn't noticed anything like that, quite the opposite actually. I have been disappointed some of my shots weren't headshots. On a few occasions the only thing I could see was the person's helmet and the hit registered, but no headshot...

I did have a nice team moment the other day when I went to snipe a guy and my teammate did an assassination just as I shot. Headshot on both of them!

I think that's the covenant sniper grenade launcher thing...you lock on and release the trigger and it rapid fires plasma grenades or something of the sort.

I could be wrong though.

How exactly do you do assassinations? I thought you just held the melee button but when I do that I melee the guy and nothing more. Do you have to approach them from a certain angle or something?

Alien Sniper Rifle = Beam Rifle that you hold down the trigger and it shoots a constant beam. You have to keep it on your target to kill it.

Alien Rocket Launcher = It has the lock on ability and I think can shoot up to four sticky rockets in one salvo. But you gotta hold it down while it gets the lock and load the sticky ammunition.

You gotta hold down the melee button when you're behind the guy.

Ahh, that's gotta be it.

I thought a buddy said he assassinated a guy from above, is that possible as well?

I haven't tried so I don't know. Maybe he was above but also a little behind, I know I was beat down like that in Halo 3.

If he was behind them even slightly, it will do the assassination. If they are in the air, it does a certain, and if you're in the air it also does a different one. If the hit would have registered as a back hit, it will do the assassination.

I haven't confirmed this, but I believe you get a medal for killing someone who is in the process of assassinating someone. You must save them. I tried with a shotgun blast and killed both the attacker and the victim. No medal for me that time. =(

Oh, another question, what's with all the special badges and such? Not the "headshot" or "triple kill" medals, but the badges that pop up when you reach a certain milestone (like a certain number of headshots or whatever)? I haven't looked through the manual but do you get bonus credits or something for leveling them up? Most of mine are either blank or at Iron.

nah i'm talking about the human sniper rifle, i have seen it kind of lock a red circle around my opponents heads.

i wonder if maybe that is one of the perks of when you have the speed perk on or something. that is the only one i really use.

The more I use sprint, the more I like sprint. Crouching and waiting then sprinting for cover is pretty awesome. I do find the clone to be quite awesome though, but it's pretty easy to pick out. I thought I'd have seen more overshield, but I haven't so far.

Pretty sure you're referring to the auto-aim built in. It's some sort of assisted aiming thing that will help you follow a target.

That is the built in auto aim. The cross hairs turn red when over and enemy. So, if you shot when they were red, they would hit the target if they stood still. If you are aiming at them and they are not red, they are out of range for that weapon and it will not inflict as much damage.

They are commendations I believe. And they are similar to the MW2 challenges. You get 100/500/1000/max headshots. They just add extra credits to your score.
