played this game till like 4:30am last night ... so much fun.

i am kind of annoyed though of the whole veto system. it seems like the same couple maps are getting selected over and over and over. i wish swat and snipers were in their own playlist, but i'm sure bungie will tweak and make new playlists at some point.

That's why the current voting system sucks, IMO. When playing Team Slayer: Slayer DMR, Slayer Pro, SWAT, and Snipers are almost ALWAYS voted for. They're fun sure, but the standard slayer is getting lost in the mix. With the veto system of Halo 3, you would play slayer a majority of the time, with sprinklings of some of the other stuff mixed in.

Perhaps it's just a matter of reorganizing the playlists as well, it's too early to tell.

Inlaws were here all weekend, mayhaps I'll be able to get on tonight. Finished the campaign I did, I actually want to get on and play multiplayer...weird!

These daily challenges are a great idea. I've been getting really sucked into trying to get them done every day.

I've never been a huge halo fan but this one is by far my favorite. I just wish the default assault rifle was a little more powerful.

Nades are wonky as shit. I get 1 naded by frags all the time and when people are sitting on mine, they only get shielded.

Yea, I've died a few times when a grenade was sitting 3 ft away while I had full armor and health.

Other times, I've thrown two grenades nearby or in the vicinity and they didn't do their job.

So i went to a friend's place today to play the game...after a few rounds, game started to get uneven at times and we left them, after about quitting 4 times, we were warned by the game that if we quit one more game, we would be banned from accessing the game's online features. One match, we were playing "infection" mode, at the start, i accidentally, while trying to save a teammate from an opposing player from behind, hit the "ability button" late, and ended up sticking my energy sword rigth in my teammate's face. We instantly get kicked and are unable to access the online for about 2 hours....
*facepalm*

I've spent a decent chunk of time on this game, and it's a good time overall, but I still have some annoyances. This has been a problem with every Halo game: when somebody leaves the game, nobody is allowed to join mid-game so one team is generally always short handed in my experience. I like the CoD style game where people can enter a game at any time if there's an open spot. Makes games more likely to be fair more of the time.

Also, as stated, the playlists need some work. I actually really like the "pro" type of gametypes like snipers, SWAT, etc but it should have its own list. Team DM should just be TDM.

And I still think it's one of the most disgustingly aliased series of this generation. There aren't too many other games I can think of that suffer from such jagged edges (Infamous is the only one that comes to mind). It's not enough to take away from the gameplay, but it's something that's bothered me enough to stop and notice it in both Halo 3 and Reach.

I agree the nades feel toned down to me. I don't think it's the AR that's weaker it's the "wonkiness" of the melee that makes it feel weaker. These guys are Spartan III's they aren't as strong physically as MC and the Spartan II's were in the other games. So the strength is toned down like ODST campaign, toned down less of course than ODST because the ODST guys aren't super human type dudes like the Spartans.

They're bringing out campaign matchmaking and I think that will be cool. I do like the daily challenges, those are fun. Really enjoying firefight right now too.

Melee is KEY...and i mean..KEY in this version more than previous...shields need to be turned down a bit, way too much protection from bullets. Also, energy swords, jesus christ...it's impossible to stop someone using one of those things.

Melee is key, but because of the shields it's not as dominant as in other halos from what I remember. Timing of the melee is huge though, as if you can widdle down their shields while running towards them and get a well timed melee you'll do well.

As far as swords go, they've always felt a bit cheap but now there seems to be more you can do to avoid them. They can't zoom UPWARDS towards you, so if you use a jetpack properly you'll beat them. With sprint you can run backwards while shooting them, and you'll win if they don't trigger their sprint. I've been using the shield thing a lot too with decent effect. It's better to shield a stuck grenade, but stops a cheap sword shot and if timed right should give you enough time to get the jump on them or let another team mate get them.

I'd chip in about grenades and melee, but I assume you guys are talking about that stuff in regards to multiplayer.

I'm right near the end of the campaign. Its been enjoyable and about par for the series (good, but I could see people not thinking its great), I like it better than most of two and three, but still like the first game best. There have been some definite improvements all around I think.

I'll have to retract saying the other Spartans don't really help. I would not have gotten past a couple of parts were it not for them, although I think that's partly a flaw in the game (or maybe they're intentionally just trying to make those situations very difficult). I might have gotten completely stuck though now, I'll have to just try some more and maybe get lucky. I don't think even restarting the chapter will help either as there were a couple of spots that I got really close to being stuck on shortly before this one.

Anyone know how deaths work in co-op campaign? Do you respawn like in the first game or does it reset it if any one player dies?

If one player dies, the other can respawn near their buddy. If both die, the game is reloaded to the last checkpoint.

nope talking bout SP.

I hate emptying a mag into an elite and then rush melee him and getting smacked down one hit kill'd by their melee when I still have shields left

the shotgun is a TOTAL POS now too.

I point blanked an elite in the back with it and it didnt even take his shields down

beyond those minor gripes

im lovin the game

its not just the shorty that seems weak against elites, everything is, covi rocket launcher doesn't even drain them with a direct hit nor does a sticky gernade, On legendary they are really fing annoying

however nothing is more annoying then hunters, fuck me they never were as hard to kill as they are in reach, in Halo 1 yea you could cheese them with the 1 shot to the back pistol hax but you can fing unload on them in reach with rockets and year nothing

Spent an extended amount of time around the forge world this weekend. So good. once you get used to the controls and menu's you can really start putting together playable maps pretty quickly. Can't wait to create my own and see what the community puts out.

I played alot last night with Joph, Buc, and a whole host of AVSers. I'm starting to enjoy Matchmaking alot more. There's still times of utter frusteration (which lead me to rage quit on my last game...sorry Joph) but overall it's a good amount of fun. I think we were on an 11 game win streak at one point someone said.

Just multiplayer maps or can you populate the map with enemies?

POSSIBLE GAMEPLAY SPOILER ALERT

I'm only playing heroic, but yeah, there is this one area right before the bridge layer puts his bridge down where you have to go into a tower and destroy it and there is a gold elite there that can take 5 direct hits from a warthog mounted rocket launcher and then a quick melee to the body from the other player and still not die. Thats just pure BS. They can also take 4-5 direct sniper hits to the noggin and still just jump around and nail you with their covenant energy grenade thingy (and they never run out of ammo either). My son and I finally got him but sheesh, I can't even imagine what he's like on legendary.

We are currently stuck inside the corvette in a large room with a lot of enemies and my son is getting very frustrated with the game. We might have to go back to normal mode.

EDIT: Are we halfway done with the game yet?

Great, that's how it was in the first (and actually third I think too), and it was much more enjoyable that way than Halo 2.

Ok, yeah. Actually, I'd go as far as to say that everything but the precision weapons (and Mag since I think its technically small arm) suck in the campaign on legendary. The assault rifle is almost outright worthless (I've had it take multiple clips to kill a single grunt), the shotgun is outright worthless (was really only good at taking Elite's shields down and the flood anyway so not too surprising), and melee is also worthless. Maybe its just my play style, but every time I've rushed even a single Elite or really, anything other than a single grunt, I usually end up losing half my life at least (and if its an Elite its a definite death).

I picked it up for the solo campaign, it's about what I expected. I am about 1/3rd of the way through on Legendary and have yet to really hit a point that took much effort. I think the most time I spent was on a particular point where the only weapon I had was an assault rifle (useless as always) and I had to take down a Wraith and two lads with plasma cannons/sticky grenades. They never really actually make it harder, they just give you less to work with it seems or give you checkpoints in really terrible points in the game.

I've also come across two pretty ridiculous bugs so far, one where your team wont follow you and I had to basically search the level or what to do next and the other where I got stuck on a texture and had to reload from last save points (irritating).

What blows my mind is that after 9 whole years doing Halo games, Bungie STILL cannot write proper team AI to save their lives. If you get into a situation where you are not driving a vehicle and are a passenger or a gunner, you are immediately dead within 10 seconds of someone getting in the drivers seat. Without fail, they drive RIGHT into the middle of a huge swarm of guys that you have no chance of killing. It really isn't that complicated to fix this problem. I ended up having to kill my own team in Halo 3/ODST just to survive and be able to use a vehicle properly. Maybe that's just how it is on Legendary but wtf.
