Can we get another HD deals thread, or can some OP do a mass updating on this one please?


Best Buy removed all their unsold HDs from the store last Saturday near me. Too bad. I had to go to wallymart to get what I wanted. But online they show NEW ARRIVALS to their selection and limited store availability on like half their HD titles. So what is it, BB? In the store, or not? What corporate slackers. And now they have nearly 3xs the inventory of b00-way titles than they previously stocked. And not one single person was looking at ANY of them while I was in the store last night. But there was at least 25 people browsing SD dvds.

And they still had the xbox 360 HD players for $50, LOL.

Give me some links and I'll update the OP. I haven't seen any deals on HD DVD lately. It seems as though they'd rather destroy them then sell them for cheap.

Previous to this week my CC had a good selection of HD-DVD movies. I wanted to go pick up American Gangster on HD-DVD today when I saw the 50% off sale. All they had were the shitty movies.

returned to the distributor for credit. The DVD's that are past the return date are left in store and make up the 50% stock.

The format's dead, move on guys. I have an HD-DVD player too and I'm more interested in seeing those 5 free movies that have never shown up from early December.

This is considered thread crapping. Please stick to the topic of the thread, and not debate about the value of HD-DVD or comment on the format war. As an FYI, because the format war has been such a volatile topic, we tend to be quicker to react on this issue.

I ordered my player in late Oct/early Nov and I JUST got mine a couple of weeks ago.

Be patient! They'll come.

Im still looking to get another HD player for both HD movies and upconverting so I actually like when there are updates to this thread.

I think we're all aware of that and are not debating it.

This is for those of us interested in maximizing our potential HD DVD investment, which obviously does not include you.

Yep, noticed this too, with Best Buy. Was in there one day, looked over the selection and decided to wait a bit, to see if they went down any further. Went back the next day, for something else and EVERY HDDVD was gone.

As for the person looking for American Gangster on HDDVD, check you local Walmart. They have been selling the HDDVD, in my area for $17, for weeks now and as of last week, still had a few.

Even paying half off the Warner Brothers Combo discs is rediculous.

What really killed the format was the $37.99 price tag on some of their releases.

Looked at Best Buy all gone....Target the same...Wal-Mart has a few but still regular price here. All of the video stores around here have ditched HD-DVD's too...

Yea, it's a little disappointing that all the good hd-dvds (imo) are still nearly 20 bucks.

And it would've been nice if best buy would've cleared out their stock instore.

Best deal retail is CC 50% off HDs sale good till 4/5. The add states CC.com and instore and 50% off regular price, not retail price. And there is no way to apply this discount online. After going to 2 different CCs and seeing different prices marked on the same title of an HD, they need to take the discount off the online price, not the randomly priced in store prices. If you order online for instore pickup, the price is automatically added for the lower online price, then they deduct 50% off that total in store.

But it seems hit and miss getting the stores to honor their own online pricing, which is ironic since that is the ONLY online price they will match, anyhow. I have an open corporate customer service ticket on this very thing. A store customer service girl told me they would honor this deal, and I brought back my titles to the store for a price adjustment, then some assistant manager refused me which means I wasted over an hour driving time in the process. Read this thread on Amazon to see how sloppy they enforce these 50% markdown rules.

Update: Just to confirm this, I tried to add Superman Returns to my cart at Circuit City.com at $24.99 and checked out, and there was no 50% discount taken after submitting all my info in the cart. In store this was priced at $34.99. So obviously they are lying in their add when they claim this 50% offer is good at circuit city.com as well.

Can someone change the thread summary please? The Bourne set hasnt been $30 in over a month. And the B2G1 free is a dead deal too. And not sure where the Universal and Paramount HDs are 50% off. Is that Deep Discount? Thanks!

And the CC 50% off HD deal is the best retail deal atm, if you can find any good titles near you. Expires 4/5/2008 I believe.
