the thickness is a very slight increase, less than 1mm according to specs.

any of you guys found a good screen protector for it yet? i bought a generic ipad one and used a razor to trim it to size, but it's not the greatest fit, obviously.

So I'm thinking about pre-ordering a case. (TPU, as usual.)

What I'm wondering:
(1) will cases that claim compatibility with the i515 really fit? not sure when the Chinese manufacturers knew the LTE one would be thicker
(2) are the side-charging contacts sufficiently useful to make going naked worth it?

TPU case was designed for the LTE version it says so all over the product description. Side pins look like they will not work

So... still nothing from Verizon about a pre-order or anything.

I have until the 11th to return my Pantech Breakout aka Nexus Placeholder. Am I looking at going phoneless for a period of time now? :|

Did you get your pantech at a VZW corporate store? If so it should qualify for the January 15 return policy....

And in other fantastic Verizon/Nexus news, VZW has confirmed that Google Wallet NFC will be disabled on their Galaxy Nexus, apparently because Verizon is working on a competing service. I hope this is the last time Google tosses Verizon a Nexus product exclusive.

Actually, all carriers are going to do it since they all are creating a competing service.

Yeah. While I am glad that I can finally get my hands on a Nexus as a VZW user, this whole thing has me reconsidering my future business with them. And I say this as an owner of a grandfathered unlimited data plan.

How is NFC disabled by carriers? Is it done through software or hardware?

lmao, nfc but disabled? Google has no clue how to execute and is totally overvalued as a company.

They seem to be doing well. I may not like Verizon (or heck, any major US carrier), but I sure do love Google's mobile OS and services.

NFC is not disabled. Verizon simply isn't allowing google wallet on the phone, in favor of it's own NFC payment system, "Isis"

of course you can hack google wallet onto the GSM model easily, and hopefully the LTE model too.

Why would you need to hack Wallet into the GSM version if it's unlocked and not carrier specific? And if you can do that, would you be able to hack it into the CDMA version?
