:whiste:
I've though about exchanging for the Nexus...but I don't think it's worth another $200+
Hmmmm...That is interesting. I would have assumed better results based on my time with a Razr.
If someone with a GNex wants to run through it my h264 samples so we can see what it can do PM me.
Costco has a 90 day return policy. Im renting out a Razr right now until the GN comes out.
I also just canceled my home internet and am going to use Verizon 4G to tether. Hopefully they dont say anything about the extremely high data Im going to use.
I went by there today actually to buy stuff and I went by the booth. I know this sounds terrible but does anyone else get nervous walking into a store knowing the staff is going to have a difficult time with even a simple transaction? It's prejudice but I can tell right away, I am going to be there at least an hour on Thursday.
Because I was interested in this phone as the one to potentially get? I'm weighting pros/cons and seeing whether or not I like it enough to pay for? I have to justify the cost to myself and my S.O., I'm sorry if you don't have to deal with that and the concept offends you. Yes there are very few things we need, but I thought discussing it was still allowed? I still would like to have it, so I'm interested in what it has to offer.
And if you already have smarthphone why are you here? I'm looking at a larger upgrade, I would think I have at least some right to discuss the phone?
Thanks for driving up phone prices for the rest of us.
exactly.
these guys who think they are "renting" their phones. verizon has a $35 restock fee at least and normally for 2 weeks use that would seem almost reasonable, but its just there to discourage people. i mean what do these guys think verizon is going to do with the phone you have been playing with.
hell costco doesnt even charge restocking. that isn't renting, thats abusing your costco membership.
as far as i know rent requires paying money.
The worst part of this is the other thread. there is a thread on this board with "why do smartphones cost so much" when the bill of materials is $XYZ.
Well people "renting" phones is one fo them. what do you think happens when you return a phone to say costco / verizon. They cant sell it as new now, so they send it back to motorola / htc etc so they will at best have warranty replacement phones. but that is a cost to them, given they may not have expected all these phones returned. refurb phones are never worth as much as new ones....
so its the cost of doing business. jackasses "renting" phones for 90 days.
Just to let you guys know, I work for Wireless Advocates which is the company that is partnered with Costco (the kiosk inside costco) and their is also going to be an accessory pack. So you will get the leather case, car charger and screen protectors as always but you also get the dock, extra battery and battery charger.
A person who supposedly works for the company which runs the kiosks inside the Costco claimed on another site that not only is the Galaxy Nexus going to be $290 ($10 cheaper) but it's also going to come with the aforementioned items plus some bonuses. I am trying to find the post now but it was nice stuff like dock, extra battery etc.
Edit: Found it
Hm that'd be nice. I didnt get much with my Razr.

What was your experience buying a phone from the kiosk at Costco? The people that work at my local store look really stupid. I know that sounds terrible but I always see unhappy customers waiting while the worker is on the phone with corporate trying to figure out a problem. Can they handle simple things like setting up a new line or porting a number?
That number is a tiny fraction of the number of people who root their phones, ie, next to inconsequential.
But, it is irritating that Motorola releases 'new' 'high' 'end' phones every 4 weeks and carriers drag their feet over launch dates rather than communicate with their customers. If Customer A could buy a phone today and know it was going to still be a flagship device in 6 months, you'd see less 'renting'. If Verizon, for example, was clear on their Galaxy Nexus launch date, you'd see less people renting because they'd either decide to buy a Razr/Rezound now and stick with it or hold out for the Nexus.
Having said that, I don't rent phones myself. I buy new because I like my residual giz and fecal bacteria to be the only stuff on the phone. When I get a new device, I wipe the old one down and resell it.

Somewhere someone is shedding a tear over this, and it isnt me. Only thing Im sad about is that Costco doesnt have its unlimited return policy anymore so I cant return my phone after 2 years.
^ Tomorrow isnt looking so hot, hopefully we get some more unofficial confirmation lol.
Got my phone from Expansys for 625. (Returned phone).
