Since owning my Nexus from launch date, I still have two to three issues with it

1. Battery life, with the same rom nothing changed no apps added, I might get a nice 2 hours per 10% of battery, other times it will dump 10% in 10 min, really annoys me.

2. Radio issues? This phone cannot make calls reliably, I don't make many phone calls but when I do its usually sits at dialing and then hangs up on me. I try it again and then it works.

3. With the Old radio just driving down the highway which I should have near full 4G coverage, all of a sudden there is no data at all. Not even Cellular I cant make a call, it will sit at dialing again. But then sometimes after I try making a call it gets 4G back and it works, if not I have to powercycle the phone, I think this has to do with the dumb Authentication issue. I have installed the newer radio and ill see how it goes. #2 still happens

2 and 3 are related, I think. Have you attempted any of the 4.0.3 radios or roms? Might be something worth taking it back over.

On 1, whats your total battery life time? On CDMA or LTE? I've noticed this thing's huge screen almost always accounts for about 50% of the total power use.

These are the things that really made me think if I wanted this phone, because I've heard this stuff repeated quite a bit. I definitely don't have these issues with my iPhone 4S (or my OG Droid), so it will suck to have those issues. I think the trade-off is worth it with that gorgeous screen though! I'll give them some time to work out the issues.

Yea, I thought so just different issues. Yea when I mean by new radios, its the new leaked ones for 4.0.3. EK04 and EK06

For 1, screen would hardly be used, like it would just drain sitting in my pocket, I think this has to do with the "Android OS" bug, something kept my phone awake be it 3g or an app running in the backround and Android OS just demolishes battery life.

My Bro he has the Dx still, he was using his phone while I was driving I hardly touched my phone and after 2 hours we were at the same battery %.

But like right now I am sitting at 92% after 2hours 30 min unplugged, this is great! But it never seems to be consistent.

Both can be fixed via software updates. Battery drain with Custom Roms, which I hope happen soon. I love the phone its great but I know its a Samsung so I have to understand it will have these dumb issues. I just don't get how all the testing and these two major issues which it seems a lot of users of the Gnex are experiencing passed not only Samsung's Quality check but Verizons.

If you're dropping calls, I think your phone may have a legit hardware issue, especially if you're using the newer radios.

The great thing about this phone is that's it's basically negated my desire to purchase a tablet, since I can browse the internet pretty comfortably on it.

I was over at a friend's house earlier today, and when she saw me using it she thought I was holding her Kindle Fire

With the first few days I was not able to make really more than six hours. But just as I had hoped the OS is learning from my usage. Right now I am at 29% and have been on battery for just over twelve hours. YEAH!

How does it compare to the Iphone 4? I'm going back to Verizon and I love the screen size. The only apps i use are Facebook,Chase bank, and Gym Buddy (for logging workouts). I'm sure all of that is available in some fashion for Android phones.

Is there an easy way to load lossless music directly to it? I'm trying to get away from Itunes but my cars USB via SYNC finds it all on my Iphone right now. Hopefully that works too.

Finally unlocked and rooted my phone, a lot easier than the I thought.

Currently using this ROM "Android Revolution HD 2.1.2"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1361348

Phone feels more zippy and responsive, believe it or not before rooting I had a few programs hang on me and had to do a battery pull at least 2 times. I know its not a lot but never had hanging program problems before reminded me of Windows 95 days.

Right now everything is working and zippy so I am a happy camper
Root required aps installed:
Titanium back up
ROM manager
Wifi tether (download working beta)

This is the method I used to root and unlock
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310

I live in a rural area (no 4g) 3g indicator is weak almost always no bars (120db) but I still am able to receive calls and browse the internet. I would say the antenna is about as good as my droid x.

There is an available Radio fix/rom, 4.0.3 available at XDA works with 4.0.2 (what I am on now) but I still have not tried it myself. Not sure if it just falsely increases the led indicator.

good luck and ROM away

Anyone know how to get Tilt-zoom functionality on this phone?
That's the only thing I need right now to comfortably operate the phone with 1 hand.

Man I bought cheapo $3 cases and screen protectors to use temporarily until I could find good ones but BOTH of them are great and I don't even feel like I need to buy a different kind.

Edit: Got the case from this seller http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-S-Lin...ccessories&hash=item3f11a84c6a#ht_1304wt_1139 Fits great, looks good, not too thick or cheap feeling. I can take pics if you want.

The amazon seller I bought the protectors from doesn't seem to be there anymore, but you can buy protectors from the same guy with the case above.

If you are rooted and Google releases an update, what do you have to do to get it? Do you have to go back to stock, update, then re-root?

If you are rooted but did not flash a custom recovery you will still get the update. You will probably have to reroot.

If you flashed CWM recovery you will have to wait for someone at xda to post the update in flashable form in cwm.

I am on on Zygot 2.0 its a great Rom, I installed GummyNexus found my phone running slow, so I downloaded CF-Bench to confirm and it was barely getting 4000. Installed Zygot and now I am getting the proper score 7.1k (OC'ed to 1.35)

Also I will probably never get an OTA update ever again, since Custom Roms will be out way before its Officially released.
