To me, it's both battery life and performance, and I refuse to give up either. I guess you can call me greedy, but my standards are high, and that's partly why the feeble battery life of the iPhone 4S really disappointed me despite the added performance (which is not visible at all unless it's a game).

hear hear. +1

But they haven't done anything. In the end, I get a feeling they just included NFC to say that they have something new rather than trying to push the technology. It's evident that after the Nexus S, there still isn't many, if any, manufacturer who wants to jump on the train.

yeah. It's becoming pretty clear IMO that Google has great ideas but just doesn't know how to execute.

They probably don't care to advertise it. They'd much rather steer customers towards the RAZR with all it's bloat.

Kinda OT but just wondering.

If Google buys Motorola do you think they will release the next Nexus phone on Motorola as opposed to Samsung? Just wondering because it seems like Samsung and Google have very close ties.

They said that Motorola would still have to bid for the phone like normal, but who knows how true that statement is.

IMO, in order of likelihood of being selected for the next Nexus (Nextus?): LG, HTC, Samsung, Asus, Sony, Ford, Nike, Pepsi, Apple, Nokia, RIM, Enron, Hotwheels, Commodore and then maybe Motorola. But only if Huawei and ZTE decline first.

Motorola would blow an eFuse if they had to leave a bootloader unlocked again.

For the Canadians, rumor is it is coming to Canada in November as well most likely on the Rogers network.

Win-win for me!

I want a Hotwheels Nexus.

Why exactly is this the case? Wasn't the original Droid a success? I thought it basically saved Moto and made them relevant again.

LG? Lol, haven't exactly set the phone world on fire there

Seems about right, the processor in GN is clocked at 1 ghz while the iPhone 4S is at 800 MHz. Where the iPhone 4S lays the smack down is in the Gpu comparisons. Both phones look great though and the GS2 should be pretty awesome with ICS.

GNex is 1.2Ghz.

Yes but they made a very solid entry level Android phone, the Optimus and the first dual-core phone.

I understand that, still they don't sell as many as the other companies nor do they seem to be as 'buddy-buddy' with google. Eitherway they could bid on it if they wanted to I guess.

The G2x/Optimus 2X weren't exactly rezounding successes either. LG is learning, but Samsung, HTC, and Moto have really polished and refined their phones through several generations.

Source? I really hope so, I wasn't impressed with the 5 month wait with the Nexus S showing up north after its release.

Agreed. LG has great displays and they never shied away from utilizing the best hardware either (1st dual core to market, 1st to use the OMAP4 and dual channel DDR2 as well in Optimus 3D)

They lack severely in the software department though and their designs are never quite nailing it though. That's why I think they are a perfect match for Google as Google could clean up the design and obviously the software as well.

When the name Nexus Prime first leaked out, I immediately linked it with LG's Optimus line and the (false) rumor of LG being tasked with the Nexus made sense.

I feel sorry for them, they got close to nailing it before but their phones suffered long delays to US market and obviously were plagued by software issues, to the point that T-Mo had to pull the G2X.

I hope they can launch a really good phone and grab market share, IMO, they deserve it. They weren't assholes with the bootloader locking and were the first OEM to reach out to CM and gave them a few units as well.

Their phones were nice and open. Definitely the software that needed to be cleaned up though, they were friendly with the CM team when the G2x launched, but it kinda fell off fast.

On the Prime name though, that was actually started by the CM guys and went viral.

So, some questions i have on ICS:
1) is there a t9 capable dailer now? (Yes i know i can get a 3rd party dailer, but its kinda pathetic that android doesnt have this by default.)
2) for devices with physical/capactive touch buttons, will [MENU] become the new multitask button? Will [SEARCH] become useless?
3) is the onscreen keyboard the same as gingerbread? From the demo it looked like it, and it seemed really out of place.
4) will android 2.x apps still work? Without issue, or will they all have to be updated to be ics compatiable? I assume most widgets have to be rewritten to be resizeable?
