The button placement on this is NOT good at all. I know where each one is, but the fact that you have to have your finger placement traveling OVER the home/back buttons to push the shutter button is really, really annoying. Several times when I have tried to get a picture my finger hits the home button.

The shutter button is half an inch away from the home/back buttons, at the closest. Unless your finger tips are Gorilla sized, there's no problem there.

I don't mind that they hide buttons when I am in the camera app but what I don't like is how they handle it. In Youtube, they hide the buttons to increase the resolution and in there, it's not confusing.

Does anyone know how the billing cycle works for Verizon and how the data limits work on the Galaxy Nexus / Ice Cream Sandwich.

What I mean is my Verizon cycle ends 12/25/11. Does this mean one second after 12/24/11 23:59:59? Or does it mean at the end of the day 12/25/11 right before the day turns into December 26th?

Similarly, for ICS, do I set the data usage cycle to 12/24? or 12/25? or 12/26?

I didn't read the whole thread since it's too long. This has probably been said countless times before but I'll say it anyway; this phone is quite awesome. It is so refreshing to be on stock Android once more(the last time was my Nexus One) after being on locked down carrier phones with tons of preinstalled junk for so long.

Gotta a question...

When you order from Amazon does the phone come ready to use? Also, if you transfer a phone number when does that take effect. Does the old phone stop taking calls once you order it or does it happen when you get the phone.

I like how in CM7 you can set it so that the volume buttons function as a dedicated shutter button.

especially if you want to take a picture at some wierd angle or say yourself it is impossible to use the touchscreen.

Curious about this myself . . . I can't even find it on Verizon Wireless.com. Its not even listed when filtering accessories by Device to the Nexus.

I was able to get the extended battery at the verizon store. They said they had plenty of stock in Brea,CA. I bought it since it was only $25 and I had until January 15th to return it.

I got my extended battery via walking into a VZW store and asking to order it. Came to my door 2 days later. On that note I would suggest everyone who has a VZW GN to get one. The thickness it adds is almost completely unnoticeable. Anyone but the most scrutinizing person wouldn't know the difference.

The phone is ready to use when you order it from Amazon. It has about 60% battery charge. You just have to login with your Google Account. The number is already ported when you turn it on. Don't worry about the card that tells you to go to a site to activate. For this particular phone, turning it on activates it. It could not be easier.

@sygyzy Thanks!!! I was worried (I think I'm going to get one for my g/f too) that the phone would stop taking calls once I placed the order.

No, that's not the case at all. In fact, I had both my old phone (Nexus One) and the GN running and on at the same time and at least initially I believe both were connected to their respective networks, both with my phone number. I can't tell you when exactly the switch happened but at the end of a 2 hour time span, I had a friend call me and my GN rang and the old phone didn't. Only then did I notice the Nexus One said "Emergency Calls Only." I ordered the phone Friday morning and got it last night and used my old phone all weekend.

WTF why don't they just state that the signal is equivalent to the other phones and leave it alone???

Why would they do this when the fix is so easy and will satiate most people? If it truly is showing less bars than other phones for the same signal strength, I think it's a good idea to update it.

From AT's investigation, they conclude it's actually reporting 4G signal more accurately than other handsets, which makes Verizon look bad. So the "fix" is to make the Nexus report like the other phones.

I am curious if it was their intent all along, with their previous LTE phones, to have them report stronger signal bars for marketing/PR purposes? As a way to make themselves look good.

That probably does account for some of the massive speed variances I've seen on my Tbolt. In some places, those where I saw full bars, I'd consistently get ~30Mbps down, while at home or at work, I'd get anywhere from 3MBps to 15MBps. I am seeing similar speeds on the Nexus, but I didn't start checking the actual dBm until I got the Nexus.

I don't believe that Android itself is solely responsible for dBm to bars, I've seen custom roms and themes modify those bars before.

Should be noted though, that LTE is blazing fast, even with a smidgen of a signal.

I dont know why you guys are just now getting upset about this.
We've already seen tons of articles stating that signal strength on most services is usually BS anyway.

Regardless of what signal strength is shown, nexus has problem with connectivity.

If the nexus is currently displaying the signal more accurately, I don't like the idea to update it to reflect a higher signal just to make people think it has a better signal that it really does.

I really don't care what other phones/providers/whatever are doing/have done.

I can confirm that my GN has shown consistently less bars than my Droid Bionic, Razr, and Rezound. Examining the dbm shows it to be on par with them however. Every one of the aforementioned has given me connection issues at some point with the 3G up arrow getting stuck or the 3G icon just disappearing altogether at times and sometimes needing airplane mode to make it come back. The GN has been by far the most reliable in terms of not dropping the connection(It has not done it at all since launch day so far).

I don't really care that much about Verizon changing how the bars work. Mine shows 1 bar most of the time but has been the most reliable phone I've had in a very long time. If the phone showing 1 bar makes people call customer service a lot even if they aren't actually having any problems, they probably should just adjust it. Give people their placebo if it makes them happy.

Something I have been pondering is that I am not sure if I like it reporting LTE signal strength instead of CDMA when connected to LTE; it is still using CDMA for voice and texts when it is connected to LTE and I think I would rather have the signal strength indicator always reflect voice calls whether I'm on 3G or 4G.
