I'm rooted and I can't get Google Wallet to work now on my GSM GNex. It says I need to update and when I click to update, it takes me to the Play market and says my device/carrier isn't supported and won't let me update. I can't get past the update prompt. I don't know if it's the root or my phone being used on TMobile that's not allowing me to update the app. Not that I care about Wallet. It's typical Google Beta product with poor execution. NFC thing probably won't take off til Apple does it with the iPhone.

If you are rooted, you should have no problems getting it on. If you are not rooted (like me), you can also get it on your phone. I downloaded the APK and just installed it. I didn't do anything fancy. Also, if you don't want it, then say you don't want it. Instead you start trash talking Google and NFC.

It sounds a lot like a school girl saying "I didn't want that toy anyway!"

what? the only way you would have gotten it on a tmobile gnex in the first place is by downloading the apk from xda or rootzwiki or somewhere...

they updated the app to fix some security flaws, so you need to find the updated/cracked version at those same sites.

wtf? you bothered to download it anyway , but now you say you didnt want it anyway.

it wont update since you obviously installed it non market. nothing installed off the market will update using the market. so you have to go find an updated hacked apk and use it now that they changed how it works.

i heard it just says its unsupported device, but it will still work. your $12 if its from a prepaid card is because they still havent fixed prepaid cards for people who had one before the update.

i actually am going to correct myself. yesterday you couldn't reclaim a previous prepaid card but i just tried it now and its working again.

I downloaded it to test it out when I got my phone. I received the $10 free credit but never used it. I only checked today since the post above mentioned not working. I didn't use it before when it worked. If it doesn't work, I'm not going to miss it since I never bothered to use it before. If not for the $10 bribe, I would probably never installed it.

The fact I had to side load it and can't update directly from the market says it all about the poor execution of the Google Wallet. Like I said, it will probably take Apple and the iPhone to properly bring NFC payment to the masses.

edit: got it updated via market using the browser trick as outlined at Rootzwiki.

I find it irritating that the SGS2s will start getting ICS updates in the next couple of days, 10 March by Android Life, and HTC started rolling out ICS+Sense 4 on Scandinavian Sensations XEs. ICS 4.0.3. Current version on the Galaxy Nexus? 4.0.2. Get your act together, Google!

Google Wallet is a novelty at best. It doesnt accept any credit cards but citi mastercards so you have to put money into the prepaid card. You dont get any credit card benefits from doing that such as cash back or points..

I'm having a problem with my Nexus S right now. It's on 4.0.3 stock,i9020. My PC won't detect it and says "USB device not recognized". Just did a factory reset and no dice. I know they changed the usb mounting in ICS, but this is just stupid and annoying.

Yea USB debugging on. The problem now is that it wont recognize my phones presence at all. Same results on my sisters computer. I don't know how I could update drivers either, in this case. I'm thinking it's a cable issue.

been having the signal drop issues really bad this first week with the phone. It will frequently drop data and never get it back unless I reboot or somehow trick it with wifi/airplane mode. Never had signal troubles with my Fascinate

Saw a thread over in XDA about cheap Japan Docomo Galaxy Nexus I thought was interesting. ~$315 for new GN even with the high Yen and readily available for sale. Amazon Japan

These phones are sim locked to Docomo but people have figured out how to sim lock and unlock with simple app like this. It might be worth it to resell if you can get your hands on large quantity...

I got the phone 10 days ago and I'm having a ton of signal problems as well. Mostly it is just short drops where it goes from 4g to nothing then comes back about 20 seconds later. It happens both during calls and data use. I also get occasionally get the situation that you are describing where the data connection wont come back at all without a reboot. I've tried most of the different radio combinations. I may try to get it replaced this week.

I turned off 4G and now it has no problems. My city doesn't have LTE yet anyway, so its no big deal. Once we get LTE, I'm sure I'll have to do with the issue somehow. I'm almost certain it is a software issue though, so hopefully it is just fixed by then.
