some of the issues some of you have may be because VZWs network has been shit for like 2 weeks. my phone has no issues normally but the past 2 weeks have been hell, happening to my buddy with a bionic as well as someone running an OG droid and IP4S

yesterday there was a good 1 hour period where i had no data at all. sitting at my house where i normally have full 4g/3g

hm...
i use 4g all the time, but when its 3g i get great service, no drops,
so i assume its a software issue as well.

i think its 4g changing to 3g causing the phone to lose all service?

I turned off 4G and now it has no problems. My city doesn't have LTE yet anyway, so its no big deal. Once we get LTE, I'm sure I'll have to do with the issue somehow. I'm almost certain it is a software issue though, so hopefully it is just fixed by then.

I agree that it's probably a software issue (combined with a problem on the tower side) despite the fact that many people on various forums are claiming otherwise. On the other hand I don't want to get stuck with defective hardware and the current level of drops is not acceptable despite how great the phone is otherwise.

Managed to somehow get a fairly noticeable scratch on the screen by having it in my pocket with a couple keys.

Pretty disappointing. I've been doing it with my old Droid and iPod touch for years and never had a problem.

Anyone have any remedies? It's just a hairline scratch on the surface. Can feel it if you go over it with your nail.

^ screen can scratch, it has some anti fingerprint coating that scratches alot easier than expected, which is why I run a screen protector.

Don't put it in the same pocket as a set of keys. Problem solved.

You have multiple pockets, take advantage of that. My phone gets its own pocket.

I've kept my Droid 1, T-Bolt, and Nexus in my left front pocket by it self, never with any screen protectors. Not a single scratch on any of them. The people I sold the D1 and Tbolt to were both pleased with their condition.

FYI, this phone doesn't have Gorilla Glass.

Correct, that question was asked when the Nexus was announced. Its using a Samsung designed fortified glass, not the Corning product.

Our friend, the Mobile Panda aka @black_man_x tossed out a quick, but important Tweet this afternoon that has to do with your Galaxy Nexus. As someone that has a well known insider track record when it comes to Verizon and LTE devices, we usually listen when he has something to spit out. Android “4.0.5″ and “April” is what he dropped today. According to Sir Panda, 4.0.5 is in testing and fixes “audio reboot issue as well as data falling asleep.” That should make you smile, right? April is a bit late seeing as the device was released in December, but what can you do?

For whatever reason, Google seems to have really struggled to get ICS to play nicely with their own flagship device, the G-Nex. You may remember that the day after it launched, the Android team announced that the 4.0.2 that it was running was old news and that 4.0.3 would be the starting point for OEMs going forward. Ever since, users have been stuck with an extremely buggy build and have fallen back on the developer community to help make their devices more stable.

Frustrating that HTC and Samsung have started rolling out 4.0.3 updates to some of their devices. But, to call the Nexus 4.0.2 build 'extremely buggy' is a disservice. Compared to any Blur phone, Sense phone, or TouchWix phone, the Nexus is still one of the most polished and functional Android LTE devices out there.

A friend of mine is in the market for a Verizon LTE phone, and is leaning towards the Galaxy Nexus. I was wondering if there were any "real" extended batteries with much greater capacity, not just one labelled as higher capacity but lacks the size and/or replacement door that has been proven to improve battery life to that of something like the Razr Maxx from Motorola.

Nothing that compares to the Maxx AFAIK. If battery life is a big priority, then why don't they just get the Maxx?

Makes the Nexus into a giant brick though.

Standard oem extended is pretty solid on battery life though.

you can get some aftermarket batteries that are in the 3000+ mAh range, but they're ugly and look ridiculous. if you really need the extra battery life, i would recommend a spare or external battery. if you can wait, i'm fairly certain Powerskin has a galaxy-nexus battery case in the works which will add 1500mAh external battery to your phone (dunno ETA though)

I got the Samsung 2100mAh extended for like $20 on Amazon. Gave a few extra hours but I honestly don't even know if I need it since my LTE is turned off.

Never mind. My post was about ICS, but not on the Galaxy Nexus.

The battery is non replaceable. For those of us who are careful with our phones, we like to change out the batteries once they loose their umph. My Inspire 4G is only 1.5 years old and I've already replaced it with another OEM battery from HTC and noticed improvement.

The Maxx is great. It would be excellent if the battery was replaceable. It would be KILLER if it came with stock ICS (no MotoBlur), but that's another argument entirely.

the battery is sort of replaceable.

i mean droid-life.com has a story today about a store selling the parts to turn a normal razr into amaxx. so obviously you can just get the battery. though not the same as just say opening a door and popping it in.

Brilliant!

Actually, not really. I'm moreso looking for scratch fixes, not scratch prevention. I guess no one here has any experience with that and everyone treats their phones like newborn infants.

Regardless, maybe it's just me, but does anyone else notice that the screen's resiliency is "wearing down" over time? It seems like it was fine at the start and now multiple tiny scratches are forming (and I've stopped putting it in the same pocket as my keys).

I have a suspicion this phone is not going to look so great at the end of my 2-year contract.

Didn't notice any issues with my Droid 1 or T-bolt as they aged. T-Bolt showed a little more wear than the Droid though, along the screen edge near the buttons.

Nexus still looks brand new, bought in December.

I totally agree! I love my Nexus, get a lot done on it & am enjoying having a phone that doesn't drive me crazy having force closes, freezing or random reboots.
Battery life could be better, but I've had that complaint with every phone I've owned so far.
