Thanks for the compliment. Apple sells dual 64 bit systems for less then one of Intels Itaniums. Sun sells systems for about the same price as Intel for UltraSPARC IIIs, but they have 4mb more cache. On the low end, Sun sells the Blade 100 for 1000$, which Intel can't even compete with in the 64 bit arena.

15 years ago a good 386/25mhz system would cost you 15,000 and another 1000 for a VGA monitor. Of course, as there were more in production the prices went down, so in a little while the itanium will be much cheaper. Remember when the P2 xeons came out they were a hell of a lot more $$$ than what they charge now for an itanium. Its not that bad.
