I just ordered an EVGA 680 from newegg, wasn't really expecting to do that, had my sights on a 7870, but the 680 seems a better value even at 499, coming from a 5850, hopfully Kepler will serve me as well as my beloved Cyphress card has done

Even though I have no desire to spend $500 on a GPU (especially since I just got a new video card), since I play single monitor at 1680x1050....I really like seeing this for one reason: It's the fastest card out right now, and due to its power draw, I could actually buy one and put it in my current system without upgrading my PSU from a 520W model to a higher end one. That's nice..... Really nice. I mean, Anand's system was pulling under 400W at full load, which is just fantastic.

Very nice card. Fast, quiet, efficient and it isn't priced out of the stratosphere like some of Nvidia's previous launches. I wouldn't be at all surprised if AMD executives are in an unscheduled meeting right this minute to decide what they should do to counter the GTX 680.

I bought two. Feel dirty.

Go Premiums!

Hehe! Even though 680 SLI is slower than 7970 CF at 2560 in sweclockers review and 7970 has more OC headroom, I still like the 680 better. Nvidia just provides a better overall experience to where a couple FPS are not the decisive factor since there are so many more compelling features. Plus according to H, 7970/680 are equal in 57x1080, so the 2GB is no problem (except extreme texture mod and config hack cases). And to top it all off, its 50 bucks cheaper and EVGA!

I was close to pulling a trigger on one but I decided to wait for BigKepler, hopefully it gets here before the end of the year

Reads reviews. Impressed. Checks wallet. Waits for GTX660.

same. Just hope it's not too far away. My 260 is showing its age. Might even spring for 660Ti if the price is reasonable and the performance warrants it.

Helluva card. It's so tempting to upgrade to the latest and greatest but I gotta keep telling myself my 570SLI is pretty much in the same league or better for 1080p gaming.

It makes it a lot easier when my favorite brands are going out of stock so fast 670 SLI or big kepler for me i guess.

I haven't studied the articles on the gpu boost feature throughly enough, but, basically, the card has a set power draw, and it increases the clock speed based on whatever headroom it has when the actual power draw is lower than the set one? Like the less it draws under load, the more it overclocks automatically?

Another good point. Many of us including me built our systems 4 years ago with lower PSUs available at the time, well we can keep our PSU and get the highest performance.

FWIW I have a HX620 and 920@4.2Ghz and was always on the edge OCing the 580. No more.

A 7970 @ 1.2ghz should be around the same as the gtx680 with its natural Turbo. It'd be a waste for you to "upgrade".

Well, according to the NV team, this WAS the 660Ti We can probably assume the real 660Ti would fall somewhere in the 7800 series performance range.

I might pick one of these up, would like to see a head to head 1200+ core review and go from there.

It's my bday Sunday. I have the money no problem just lots of big ticket items I need like a riding lawnmower and a trailer to pull with my truck.. Damn if I was 25 I'd done it and explain to the wife later. 30 about to be 31 its not so easy to spend $500 on toys.

Anand part of the nV team? He said the same thing. The 680 is *smaller* then the 560Ti, clearly it was built to be a mid range part.

Yeah I see the 680 not really doing anything @ 1600P with AA the 7970 does not.

What got me is that it performs better in the games I need more performance in and play a lot - BF3 & Skyrim. Mostly BF3. I also will play more Diablo 3 than anything else and I like the AO in the drivers for that game.

So I can put up with some of the high res/AA drawbacks. First order of business will be to overclock the memory as much as possible though Will be nice to finally be rid of these 480s, no more heat and wicked loud noise.

gk106 according to the same leaks on correct gk104 specs is literally 1/2 the gk104.

so 50-60% of a gtx680.

Well damn, what would be the point of that then, other than power consumption possibly? Half the performance of GK104 is right back to 560Ti level, as shown in the previously quoted review slide:

Heh, no, I was being mildly sarcastic here NV obviously changed their approach by neutering this card of compute performance, so in reality, the die size can't really be fairly compared to GTX580 with the conclusion being smaller die = not a direct replacement.

They named it a GTX680, after all, not a 660Ti.

Wtf did I just read this right, you can NOT disable dynamic overclocking?

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_680/31.html

Despite all the GTX 680 does right, I'm not thrilled about this. Unngh. I like manual controls. Boo.

Also it can't be true that 7870 has a higher perf/watt than 680 can it? According to TPU it does. I was going to buy the most efficient chip all else equal, I didn't expect 7870 to do that well. Hmm. Gonna see where prices settle down because price/perf obviously has to change, especially on the AMD side where they overpriced everything.
