Just some leaks:
Awesome, thanks for posting

Those are some staggering differences, to say the least. GPU recommendations are going to start coming from "what games are you wanting to play."

BF3 looks good @ 2560x1600 from guru. First good 1600P results I have seen.

Hope the reviews come up before the cards show up on newegg.

The power figures in the tweaktown review have got to be wrong ... it would eat more power than the gtx480 while being smaller by ~230mm^2.

The anandtech review can come out soon enough.

edit: Looks like they didn't do an overclock test either...

If those power consumption numbers are right, then AMD seriously dropped the ball not releasing a 7980 today. At the very least, they could be pretty competitive at the same power budget, and definitely ahead at high res.

But it doesn't look like AMD will be doing much to fight back besides relying on partner cards. Doesn't seem like we'll be seeing a performance driver today either. Typical AMD.

Of course, the TT review should be taken with a grain of salt. Hard to believe they would go with 6+6 for that kind of power consumption.

Just a shame it took so long.
I would probably rather have a GTX670 if/when it materialises, since the 680 is still a little too much, but the money I saved by buying my monitor when I did offset the premium I had to pay on my 7950, and meant I got it sooner.

Better card, more competition, just didn't arrive in time for me.

BAM! Overclocking numbers! Looks like 1260MHz on the GPU without voltage.

Think I am buying then since it can overclock decently.

Performance improvement numbers over the GTX 580 are disappointing but an overclock could sell me.

The GTX 680 is 30% faster than a GTX 580...

DX11 Overall Perf. Improvement

2560x1600 8xAA
GTX 680 26.5%>580
3.5%>7970

2560x1600 4xAA
GTX 680 29.9%>580
5.2%>7970

1920x1200 4xAA
GTX 680 27.9%>580
9.1%>7970

Smallest perf. increase ever from nvidia for their flagship. About half of what it usually is. My only worry buying these is they are going to depreciate to nothing in 6 months or so when they release the real flagship.

Edit:

301.10 WHQL drivers for 680.

~10% faster than 7970 at 1080p is impressive. The high OC is awesome as well, if this holds in other reviews, i'm sold.

the 480 and 580 are both Fermi and on 40nm, this is an entirely new chip on an entirely new process node, not a mere revision that nVidia stupidly decided to rebrand

In essence the 580 was what nVidia's mulligan on the 480

For a midrange card it looks good. An "impressive" 5% faster at 2560 than 7970. So my expectations were right from the start. It looks like it really needs higher clocks to look good against 7970, so it better consistently oc higher because otherwise it won't be any better than 7970. Buying 7970 when it first came out was a much better decision than buying this card. I'm still waiting for proper high-end card. Well, I probably still won't upgrade I want better performance than I currently have with a single card.

It's a midrange card, what did you expect? Did gtx460 against GTX285 look any better? I think this card actually performs extremely well for what it is.

We were talking about "flagships". First GTX 480 was Nvidia's flagship and then it was GTX 580. Increase between these two flagships were about 15-20%

About rebranding: Everyone knows that GK104 wasn't meant as high end GPUs and Nvidia rebranded their up coming cards.
