Yup, the process is the same as creating a U.S. account, but you should select a European country instead of United States. There are plenty of tutorials out there that walk through the process if you need help.

Hopeless you got me concerned, I'll have to rush home and see for myself, if this doesn't surpass cod4 in quality then I am canceling mine too.

Playing in the beta, I think controls as "sluggish" might misrepresent the game, and people praising it over COD4 are no help, because everyone is then expecting COD4-style controls.

The game, to me, might just be better than COD4, but it still takes some getting used to.
The controls are slower in comparison to COD4, but then again, I felt like COD4's controls were a little too snappy. Was perfect for the action they were going for - fast paced, hectic yet still felt close to that "real" factor.

K2, on the other hand, amps up the "real" factor 10 fold. Controls are slower, yes, but not sluggish imho. Mind you, I'm still waiting for the demo to release here in the US (and I have pre-order through Gamestop, with demo code).
The slower controls are mostly due to being coupled with slow, very heavy and real feeling character movement. Weapon reloads, aiming, running... everything, when represented on screen and with rumble, all work toward a very heavy and "real" feeling presentation.

Everyone might not like the slower controls, but when coupled with the visual presentation of movement, it all just feels so right imho.

I believe it's going to be on the NA Store today anyway. At least that's according to Playstation Universe. So there's no need to create a European account.

It will only be available to people who have pre-ordered the game though. For some reason, the EU region doesn't have that restriction.

For those that pre-ordered through Gamestop, the demo codes now work and you can download the demo. I just started mine.

You mean controls feel like you're a dude wearing a good bit of armor/war equipment with a heavy gun?

I played the beta, everyone...the controls felt fine to me and to anyone else who played it on my PS3. You MAY have to "get used to it", but I never felt like I had to.

Don't go canceling pre-orders yet. MP beta was a blast.

I seriously doubt they are multi-use. If you want to give someone your account info, they could sign in as you and download the demo up to 4 more times, though.

I signed up for a European account, and started downloading the demo. It got to 3% and I started getting connection errors. Luckily I can just set it to turn off when it's done, and it looks like it continually tries to restart the download every few seconds, so it'll get done when it gets done.

Is this a single-player only demo?

It's your network, not PSN. I know this because I had the same problems at my house with Comcast. When I came to my university, my PSN download speeds average 1 megabyte per second, which is faster than what the 360 downloads here. I had the demo within 20 minutes.

I'd also like to add that speakeasy.net shows my download speeds as being slower than my Comcast connection at home (though upload is at least twice as fast).

I've heard a case where switching routers to the Linksys CM100 fixed the slow PSN issue, at least with Comcast.

Anyway, I thought the demo was WAY to short. However, it looks like it will be a fun game. AI seems good (I heard the AI gets TOUGH on harder difficulties). Multiplayer beta was much more fun, though.

More realistic or not, Grand Theft Auto 4's more "realistic" sluggish walking and driving controls were not a welcome change for that series.

Here's hoping this fares better for you guys.

Yep, similar experiences. Well, back at home it's a local cable company and I tend to get acceptable speeds based on 8mbit connection and using Wireless-G.

But here at school, PSN downloads often hit 2-3 MBytes/second. It's freaking nuts. Same with Apple.com/trailers, and same with, ahem... other... downloads. And it was NOT like this last year, so I'm in internet heaven. Don't know what OSU did, but damn well better stay this way.

Isn't it kinda a network and PSN problem then? Since my network runs super fast for everything but PSN. Shouldn't PSN be more optomized or whatnot? I downloaded the 1.5 gig Halo Wars demo in 20 mins, but the killzone demo took me 3 hours.

Anyways, just played the demo and I liked it but wow that was short. I'm kinda mad at the controls. I wish I could pick anything I wanted. I like having zoom on a tigger button, but when I do that, I have to have shoot on R1 and not R2. I got used to it and all but I wish I could just pick whatever I wanted

Overall, I enjoyed it. Wish there were more to the demo though.

That makes no sense. Isnt the point of the demo to make people WANT to buy the game. Getting a demo should not be incentive to buy the game. They have it backwards.

That is Sony for you. They tend to release demos after the game has been released. Look at MGS4.... demo wasn't released until November or December. Game was released in June.

SCEA is kind of retarded. Whatever, I like good games and won't hold it against them.

.......

Oh, and I just played the demo I downloaded earlier this afternoon.
Great gameplay, but it is definitely going to take me some time to adjust to the controls. I really hate not having custom control mapping like in Resistance 2. Not a single one of the presets matches what I want. The best ones for everywhere else have the Zoom and Sprint mapped to L3/R3 respectfully. While Sprint I can handle being on L3, I hate Zoom being mapped to the same stick I have to use Look for, and hell, being on a stick in general. If I select "Zoom Hold", that means you have to hold it to zoom, which using a stick that you are aiming with, well... makes it rough when all of a sudden you try and aim and oops, let go. But without Zoom Hold selected, that means its click on and click off.

I'll stick with that, but it's going to take some time adjusting to remember to click on and off every time I want and no longer want zoom.
However, sprint has no option of toggle, but while it's on a stick it doesn't bother me at all. Hold the stick while I'm running somewhere, I can handle that, seemed to adjust to that real quick. That then places Melee on L1, which is strange because I prefer that on one of the sticks. I would rather swap Melee and Zoom, but the only presets that had that I didn't like the rest of the button mapping. Oh well.

I must say though, while it's the beginning level... I think... it definitely sets the stage for some amazing gameplay later on, and was pretty fun, though playing it while not quite adjusting to the controls makes it harder than it would have been.

Lighting is absolutely beautiful, and you can tell, while the environment is very drab and bleak, it does have this strange beauty to it. Looking forward to some of the better talked about levels that have different scenery.
Looks like it definitely has the Killzone look and feel to it, but with much better presentation. And better gameplay. All of which means it's a guaranteed buy for me.

Oh, the other thing that is going to take some getting used to, on my part, is using the pin to cover system. It's been awhile since I've had that as an option, and I like how it stays in first person and the peeking is very well implemented. Very well done, and looks to be an extremely enjoyable game. Multiplayer should be a blast too once all the options are there and at that point used to the controls.

Only complaint about the game itself, beyond my issues with adjusting to controls, and these two combined FAR from being deal breakers...
Like Warcrow stated in his Killzone 2 thread - the dialogue. What they are saying feels like it should be so natural for the situation, but the way it is delivered, it's kind of a disconnect. Oh well, turning off subtitles takes away the distraction and helps the dialogue kind of blend into the environment and situation, somewhat. Still a little jarring, and maybe it'll be better as the game progresses, or maybe it'll just grow on me.

I am looking forward to hearing ANYTHING from Visari, as I enjoyed him in the previous game. And any of the dialogue that is story-related should be much more enjoyable, just for the fact that it's the story and not just random utterances. We'll see. Definitely getting this game no matter what on release date.

And oh... a Friday release? Just noticed that, didn't realize the 27th was a Friday until I looked today.

So basically, you have to be hooked up to a school network to get good speeds out of PSN? Sorry, but I don't buy the whole "it's your network" thing. Sony needs to upgrade their servers. I never have problems downloading from Live and it using an acceptable amount of my available speed, but PSN has always been dog slow. A couple of weeks ago, I downloaded the CoD4 map pack on Live, a 450MB file, in about 15 minutes. I'm trying to download the Killzone2 demo, and have gotten to 30% after 4 hours of downloading. Downloading the Battlefield Bad Company demo last night on the PS3 took about 6 hours from start to finish (around a 1.2GB file I think).

I'm glad Sony doesn't charge for the PSN, I don't think anybody would be buying.

I don't have a school network, and I get good enough speeds on PSN... I don't wait forever to download anything and have minimal lag online, not anymore than XBL.
