I have one more rank to get Medic, so maybe you can help:
When you revive someone on the field, do you get points, or does it just go towards ribbons?

As far as disconnecting from a game, I've yet to have any reason to quit a game and haven't wanted to risk any penalty points or a loss of earned points during the match. I too am wondering this.

Aside from R Nilla's post about being disconnected, I wonder if voluntarily quitting will be the same as being disconnected in terms of any penalty.

Quitting still gives you points, I believe, as it has the message saying something about uploading it to the network.

The demo is not patched.

If you didn't like the controls before, you'll probably find MP at least, with the patch, to be much more enjoyable to play. It's much tighter. Yet, at the same time, if you were fine with the controls before, you should still be fine.

With any of the classes, using any of your skills (reviving people, repairing items, having a turret kill someone, etc) generally gives you a point along with the points towards the following ribbons.

I was disconnected from a match once (right towards the end) and didn't receive any of my points, so I would guess no.

That really sucks because most of the games I've been in are 5 games x 5 minutes so it's 25 mins plus about 2 mins loading in between. You have to comit to 30 mins if you want to play

Yeah it is a commitment, although anything less than that is a pretty short burst of gaming. Of course, it's possible that you will still get points for an incomplete match and it might be worth it to look on the official Killzone forums for a definitive answer.

Also, some people setup matches that are just one gametype (like Bodycount)--I've never really ventured into these games but some of them might be setup to last a shorter period of time.

Not if your team is good, or the team your on really sucks and the other team is really good.
It's typically about 5 minutes max per round. But if the objective is completed prior, I believe that time resets with the next round starting then.
Some of the rounds do use the whole time I think, specifically the Team Death Match mode (whatever it's called).
And I think the Capture and Hold mode will last the whole time, but it might end early if a team is able to capture all of the zones. That would be quite a feat though, have to have skilled players holding every zone, and basically the entire other team would have to suck since each zone would have to have somebody there or else it would be easy to capture it back.

Sorry to answer your question, when you heal someone you get mission points! It also counts towards ribbons. Wait is that the same as badges? You get a tick every time you heal 5 people. And if you get 5 (or 8?) ticks, you get the badge (or ribbon). They don't count a heal as the same as a kill but both are worth the same points (1).

Yes, you get one point for each revive you make.

If you revive at least 5 people in a match, you get a ribbon for it. As with all ribbons, once you get 8 of these ribbons you get a medal/badge. Once you unlock the medic badge, this grants you the secondary special ability of the medic, which is to heal people (I haven't gotten there yet so I'm not exactly sure how it works--health packs?).

EDIT: I unlocked the Body Count medal last night, which grants me more points per kill in Body Count mode. Now I understand why people like to setup Body Count only matches to quickly rank up.

Yeah, once you start making progress in the game, everything starts rolling faster and faster (more exp, more fun, etc).

I'm kinda sad, though, that the games are usually super chaotic. They weren't nearly this bad in the beta. They were just enough to give you a rush with the feeling like you couldn't take a step without getting shot.

Yeah, I didn't think it was too bad until I was in a game last night full of Generals. It's a much different game with turrets and drones everywhere, as well as snipers. Having scouts (that's the really fast class, right?) on a team makes a huge difference for Search & Retrieve.

I still had a lot of fun in those games, though, and managed to stay towards the top of the pack. I was disappointed to still see that no one was squading up. It seems like there's usually only one squad on a team, if any. Although when you have guys on your team that can deploy spawn points, it's not as big of an issue.

I AM SO ADDICTED LIKE A CRACK HEAD NOW

It's almost not even funny. Played about 4-5 hours last night (which is a lot on a weekday night for me). Playing with all the different classes and seeing the depth of what the game has to offer, this game is still surprising me. It's a huge understatement when people say the multiplayer starts off slow, and you just need to keep playing it. Seriously!

Because of the slow start, I didn't prioritize wanting to play this, and played other games instead. But once you start unlocking all the classes, and get lumped in with people that have other classes and tactics, it just gets even more fun.

Times it can get quick and frantic, and other times, you're creeping and pushing forward tactically. It kind of reminds me of Battlefield and Team Fortress 2 rolled in together. Good comparison, yes, no?

Last night I noticed I could run and gun a lot more, popping into a room, and being able to take out a room with 2 or 3 other players. So I really think the controls did tighten up and helped out a lot when they released the patch. Unlike what I said yesterday, I don't necessarily think it's me just being used to the controls.

I think I melee too many people because I would get stuck in the melee position! This has happened many times already. Bug perhaps? btw, if they are down, if you keep hitting them with the melee, their helmets pop off. Kind of funny and at the same time insulting, since they can still see you doing it to them for a few seconds until their respawn button pops up. LOL.

I think my sleep hours will be affected soon

Holy shit the controls really tightened.

In multiplayer, it feels beneficial. But played some single player, and it really took away some of my immersion. After a few minutes I was right back in, but now it feels a little snappier for sure. I think they took away the momentum while sweeping the area with the rifle, so when you let go, it stops.
My idea of this comparing to CoD4, just got ramped up. The controls are still slower than CoD4, but now it definitely feels like that game a little bit more, imho.

For multiplayer, I just played the first match that wasn't with similar rank last night, had a couple generals and the other Star ranks. It was just pure nuts! The drones were out, the sentry-turrets were out, rockets flying all over the place. It was fun, almost like playing a different game.

Playing the game with similar ranks when your at low ranks, it's super fun. But seeing all that, just makes me anxious to get to higher ranks, because you can do so much more, and there will definitely be some maps that'll just be insane, while others will be scaled back a little bit and offer up a ton of fun with all the ranks.

BTW, my PSN ID is rNilla if anyone ever wants to party up (so to speak). Unfortunately I do not have a headset, but I promise I'm a good squad mate. Maybe we should try to get a small group of people some weekend? ATCG clan even? For some odd reason Forza 2 seems to be the only game where ATCG people can organize and dedicate some serious time.

I am not sure if this is a bug or just me (likely), but has anyone noticed that when you are in a chaotic situation (ie someone rounds the corner right in front of you, or rushes you), that it involuntarily melees? Maybe I am not use to R3 (the stick) but I don't ever intend to melee people in these situations but I somehow do.

Nope.
I think it might be your OH SHIT reaction and a wild flick of the right analog stick results in you inadvertently pressing R3.

Don't worry, in those situations I sometimes end up pressing numerous buttons and it's never the one I want, other than the trigger.

I dunno. I still like it, and to a point I believe it to be better post-patch, but I can't help but say that I do feel that I miss the momentum a little.
I had adjusted pretty fine pre-patch. Now other people kill me easier post-patch.

like i said. more enjoyable. doesnt mean awhole lot but i prefer being able to kill people easier. aiming without zooming, makes the game funner for me at least. i dont wanna zoom everytime i wanna shoot. in that case, i might as well go buy COD:WAW(COD4 seems alittle empty) or ill just fall down some stairs i dunno.

If you want to play, PSN ID : slimkay

I am an excellent Medic and Saboteur (although C4 does suck).

Anyway, I second everything you said. Playing with 31 other dudes in small maps like Tharsis Depot (the industrial/warehouse-y map), Radec Academy (the map in a building where the spawns are right in front of each other... in a school-like building) and Blood Gracht (the map with the sewers and the canal, between the two spawn points) are pretty hectic and it always finishes in a chaotic, endless bloodbath.

The only bad thing with MP is that once you are General, you're done basically, except for the missing badges (some of which are f*cking hard and frustrating to acquire). I wish there was some kind of Prestige Mode like COD4 or maybe that we could customize our guns, like in COD4. Basically, once you're General, the game lacks the juice that kept you tuned in but it is still good...

It depends. I find it fun to play with all the different classes, so I don't need progression to stay interested for a while. I'm also still working on some ribbons/badges.

I'm hoping any sort of DLC they put out will be good.

I just played KZ2 for the first time last night. I'm not much of an online multiplayer gamer, just more for the single player or co op campaigns (i really wish this had co op campaigns). That being said, I really loved this game. The graphics are so overwhelmingly good, the controls, to me, were not bad. They were definetly different than COD or many other FPS, but they didn't feel like they were messed up, just not intended to work the same.

Overall, a really fun game so far.

How many points is General? Please tell me if you know off the top of your head. Don't bother checking.
