I just wish they would get rid of those damn C4 or make them blink brighter! it's worse then those damn bouncing bettys in W@W.

Yeah, I think the Dutch tried to envision what Westerners would appreciate in terms of dialog in a gritty war story.

Problem is, I think they sort of hit the nail on the head. BUT, whoever they hired did absolutely terrible trying to sound authentic and convincing.
For voice acting, that's hard as hell to sound authentic in a war story when you aren't even going through the motions of playing war, unlike with war movies where the same dialog can be used but sound so perfect.

There have been many moments where the dialog doesn't bother me or actually sounds pretty good, but there are still times when it's just like... "ugh, really?". I tend to get really into the single player game so most of it just goes through my head and sounds logical, my mind tries to ignore the low quality of the voice acting at moments and just listens to what is being said, because my head is trying to enjoy the rest of the game.

I just tried playing some COD, needed a little break from playing KZ almost everyday. Oh shtt, I suck badly. Can't aim for anything, and I was coming in the bottom half every game, till I got frustrated with the controls and aiming and just stopped. Even trying to run around with the MP5 that is the easiest weapon to use didn't help. This is coming from a player that use to run around with the pistol and melee and coming in first because COD got too easy. This is almost like the reverse of what happens when COD familiar players come and play KZ2, and get frustrated.

I really hope they do something about the C4. I really hate the C4. It's so cheap and frustrating because you can't really see it. I even feel cheap when I use it. They should put some blinking lights or something. It's almost as bad as the noobs running around with the rockets.

like I said, it's the reverse of what's happening with me, that I got so use and is accurate with the KZ2 controls, that COD was difficult and frustrating. I'm not trying to convince you to try again, as you seem to have made up your mind, but KZ2 is a game you have to relearn what you're familiar with for FPS games. And that takes some time for most people.

or he's a PC gamer trying a console FPS... I tried to go from PC fps to console fps.. its not the same. i do have KZ2. trying to get rid of it. but regardless. KZ2 reminds of COD4 now

Nice assumption there, considering I've never played COD either.

So, what made it "that bad" that made you delete it after 5 min? I'd like to know. Again, I'm not trying to change your mind, just want to know.

I disliked it so much because it was just another trite and generic FPS game in a sea of trite and generic FPS games.

I've played this game before...in the 90s. It was called Quake.

IMHO, Gears of War has made the FPS genre obsolete.

Troll much? I don't see how it's possible to make these kinds of judgments based solely on a 5 minute experience with a single player demo.

While it's true that Killzone 2 doesn't really bring anything new or innovative to the table, I think most people with this opinion simply don't like the FPS genre.

I love Gears of War, but what makes it any different than Quake (especially when compared to Killzone 2) aside from the change in camera perspective and on-rails segments?

And obsolete? Hardly. There will always be a place for FPS games, especially in the realm of multiplayer. The Gears of War franchise still has some catching up to do in this area.

Yeah, 5 minutes with a DEMO is a really good indication of what the game is like, especially multiplayer. I guess you haven't read anything about MP. There's a reason a lot of people like the game. There's a reason it got great reviews.

well that's cool, whether you're trolling intentionally or not, and it's your honest feelings of FPS, then cool, you did the right thing and deleted and freed up some space on your HD.

Now it makes sense on why you didn't like this game, when you put a game like GoW as the top game in your opinion and "...has made the FPS genre obsolete" I know many people that would be laughing all over the floor if they read that statement. GoW did bring in some new features, it's a fun game, but there's cons and complaints of that as well. I own both GoW 1 and 2, hated the game at first, but finally took the game for what it was and started enjoying it. Maybe you just like 3rd person perspective shooters? Or something about the mechanics really appealed to you. If your statement is true, then a game like Fracture really made everything obsolete.

FPS as a genre will continue to evolve, in a hair splitting way, and will continue to appeal to the fractionalized groups such as twitchy vs tactical types...etc.

Like I said, I'm not here to change your mind. Just keep enjoying the games you play and want. and seriously, Quake? LOL

Patch 1.24 is out

On April 22nd at 8AM GMT, Guerrilla Games will release the next game update to their hit first-person shooter Killzone 2, exclusive for the Playstation 3. The primary main aim of patch 1.24 is to enable the released versions of the game to play with the Japanese release, due on the 23rd of April 2009. It also enables support for the first DLC pack, Steel and Titanium, available on the Playstation Store from the 30th of April 2009. Finally, we have added three additional ranks to the top-end of the rankings known as 'Hardcore Ranks'. There are additional small improvements on finding and joining friends and clan members, but we will continue to expand on this system with the next update.

Total download size for the patch is 57MB. A full list of fixes and feature updates can be found below:

* AI - Bots now skipping disabled/destroyed MGs in warzone when requesting mounted guns.
* AI - Do not claim waypoints for the previous character when it's dead.
* AI - Fixes bots getting stuck trying to arm/disarm S&D object when mission is already over.
* Campaign - Fix for potential progression bug in Salamun Bridge.
* Clans - User name, not users clan displayed in rankings.
* Clans - Winning 10 Clan Challenges causes the user to become stuck on the medal awards screen.
* Controls - Lean & Peak - Zoom hold on and out of ammo it switches between regular/scope view rapidly.
* Cosmetic - Blue screen tint which indicates scout cloak is occasionally enabled and will remain indefinitely.
* Cosmetic - White squares on the grenade counter merge together when displayed in 1080p.
* Create Game - "Badge Combination" option does not work properly.
* Create Game - Online - "clan only" presets apply even after a player leaves a clan.
* DLC - DLC pack 1 - 'Steel & Titanium' support.
* DLC - New Loading screens advertising the first DLC pack.
* Exploit - Helghan Industries - Player getting out of map fix.
* Exploit - Radec Academy - User is able to gain access to the roof when revived in a specific location.
* Exploit - Reviving player stuck in wall collision can result in him spawning outside level.
* Exploit - Salamun Market - One sided wall allows people to be seen and shot from outside where they cant see or fire out.
* Exploit - Tharsis Depot - Player can get out of the "normal" play area and can get into some sniper/camp spots.
* Feature - Invite player from friends list.
* Feature - Join Clan Member list added.
* Feature - Join Game - 17-24 players filter.
* Feature - MP - Moving while seeing scores after pressing SELECT.
* Feature - The radar/map now has a larger radius.
* Feature - Three additional 'Harcore' Ranks added to the top limits.
* Front-End - Add support to display more than 8 maps when creating a game /challenge/tournament.
* Front-End - Sorting ascending and decending ranks working better in 'Rankings'.
* Front-End - When in a squad, the Valor Trophy is visible in the Squad Tab, however the users rank is not being displayed on top of it.
* Mods - Official tournament to be displayed first followed by custom created tournaments.
* Mods - Additional functionality made avalable to the in-game moderators.
* Network - Server side fix for full games being displayed incorrectly.
* Network - User is unable to use the 'Join Clan Member' tab due to Network Error Code 20002.
* Online - File-synching with the Japanese release of Killzone 2 on the 23rd of April.
* Sound - Turret placing sound continues when killed.
* Stability - Crash when synching gamestate after a full mapcycle.
* Stability - Hang on a screen with a blank message window just before a message appears.
* Stability - Reducing the load on the server related to syncing the buddylist.
* Stats - If a clan wins 24 Clan Challenges and goes to the result screen, the medal acquisition screen, which normally displays when you win 25 games, will display.
* Stats - Number of air-support grenades used by tacticians does not add to the stats of joined user correctly.
* Stats - Number of spawn-grenades used by tacticians does not add to the stats of joined user correctly.
* Stats - User sometimes does not receive 1000 valor award when winning 10 Clan Challenges.
* Text - % character not displayed correctly on the creating game dialogue box after selecting to create game.
* Text - If a client receives an invite from a clan which has a '$' character in the clan name, the recipient will get kicked.
* Text - Italian localization fix.
* Text - Japanese localization fix.
* Tournament - Game decides winner if one of the two teams doesn't spawn in.
* Trophies - Wargod trophy unlocking pre-maturely.

Just heard that the hardcore ranks require 5,000, 10,000, and 100,000 points.

100,000??? JEEZ. I've played well over 40 hours and have a bit over 7,000.
