There's also software. I bet the majority of time spent was on refining it and software development is not cheap. Fortunately, with enough units sold, you can eventually recoup that cost completely and it becomes a non-issue.

I was at Wal-Mart earlier and they had four Kinects on the shelf. I had to force myself not to buy one, but that doesn't mean I can't go back . But anyway... you guys said that Dance Central has the better track list? Ehh, I finally took a peek at them both and I don't think I can agree :\.

Given the fact that I pretty much despise pop music and just about all rap, the majority of the Dance Central list is pretty much no good. The only decent songs are probably...

I mean, who can hate on Jungle Boogie? But given that the Dance Masters list is very Eurobeat heavy and the fact that I actually like Eurobeat... chances are I'd prefer Konami's entry over Harmonix .

I saw one of these in action for the first time on Saturday at a Best Buy, and the lag was atrocious. Some guy was playing a game where you hit balls back at targets, and the thing was so far behind what the guy was doing I started laughing unintentionally and disrupted him.

Is it like that in every game, or just the pack-in?

All games update the first time you play them, this fixes the lag. Best buy has likely not ran the updates.


I picked mine up +3 games on Friday.

All of them are great. My wife and friends played Dance Central during their girls night and it was a hit.

I play the Kinect Sports the most. My only complaint is you can only play up to 2 players online. My brother inlaw has it as well and we wanted to play 2 against 2 but no dice.

Also, Microsoft sold 1 million units in 10 days. Thank God. I got burnt on the hddvd drive and was worried this might fail as well but it appears to be a hit. They expect to sell 5 million by years end.

Got mine yesterday with kinect sports. I wouldn't have paid for it personally, but I lucked out and got a freebie (long story). It's fun to play, but I haven't seen anything mind blowingly impressive yet. It feels very much like it has a massive amount of unrealized potential, especially when it comes to adding to the controller instead of being the only control method.

The menu system feels like it has the most unrealized potential though. With the grab and slide to move between "pages," it seems like they didn't have nearly as much confidence in the system as they should have. I don't like the grab and pull, it should just be a full swiping gesture.

You too? My biggest problem is that I've only got one Kinect and my kids don't let me play. Kinectimals, Dance Central and Sonic Free Riders have been in a constant rotation especially with my wife's 12-year old cousin over the last two weekends.

The closest to that so far is Fighters Uncaged. But it's pretty awful based on reviews.

Just read a couple reviews. Sounds like the game itself is shit but you couldn't even play it anyway the tracking is so bad.

Im considering purchasing Kinect not for me, but for my little sister. She really likes cats, and I think she would have a lot of fun with Kinectimals. It would make a good Christmas present, since she isnt old enough to own and take care of a real pet .

Yep. Sonic Free Riders suffers from the same problem. That would actually be a good game otherwise. Sega really needed to hold that game off longer to get the tracking working properly but then they wouldn't be Sega if they had.

Got one last night @ Best Buy when I was buying some networking gear...spur of the moment buy. I was hoping to put it off until next year, but seeing it in-stock, Oh well.

After playing the included game last night for a couple hours, I've got to say that I'm glad I didn't wait. Works better than I expected, and it was definitely a work out. I'll be picking up a couple more games today too.

I got a Kinect yesterday, it was my 6 year old's birthday so I was able to spin it as a present for him. He loves it though.

Kinect Adventures is great despite the bad rating it received on most reviews, its a throw in game anyways so rating doesn't really matter. Kinect Sports has been fun also. Volleyball is really fun. However the table tennis is not so good, better on the wii. I suppose its because thats the type of thing where you would want to be holding something in your hand. Same for bowling, it just doesnt feel right or work the way you would want. Finally, Dance Central...really fun. I dont dance and neither does my girl, but we do now I guess. Its a great time, and a great workout. You're sweating and breathing real hard after just two songs. My son basically wasnt able to do any of the dance moves correctly though, but I assume he'll get the hang of the easier ones eventually. He still loves the game though. Overall happy with the purchase.

I hope Microsoft actually puts that into Kinect someday. I remember them saying you could "scan" objects with Kinect and use them in-game but as different objects. So I could use a ruler and use it as a 2x4 or grab a pencil (or a knife, if you prefer) and turn it into a katana.
