Played Kinect at my brothers house. If you are only getting two games, get Kinect Sports and Dance Central. Both are extremely fun. Sports has a ton of stuff to do, with my favorites being bowling and Beach Volleyball. Dance Central is actually pretty fun. Once you learn the moves it feels good getting some high scores.

Pretty much. I've now played Wii Sports, Sports Champions, and Kinect Sports pretty extensively, and Kinect Sports is hands-down my favorite of them all due to the sheer amount of modes and stuff to do.

My 65 year old mother got one to play on Christmas which was pretty funny. We all come over and couldn't stop playing. Even the shitty games were fun.

Should be even better when quality games come out.

Sadly she wouldn't let me "borrow" it.

I absolutely love the mini-game where you "hold" two paddles and return as many balls as you can. I think I'm up to around 120 before I can't handle it anymore. Both of my arms are dead tired after one round of that, but I keep going back for more.

I need to play more kinect sports, I havent' seen the table tennis mini game that peritus is referring to.
So far, I've bought Dance Central, Your Shape Fitness, and Kinect sports and all are pretty damn good.

It's possible it was included in the recently released DLC that added a few new mini-games. I didn't get KS until late last week, so I don't know what was there before and what was added.

I believe Target Smash is a table tennis mini-game, so the dual-paddle mini-game must've already been there.

One odd fact, every one of my siblings bought a Kinect. So 4 total across the families. Where were they when I bought the HDDVD drive?

Then you will love Dance central. It takes a bunch of photos as you are doing your moves and then plays them quickly. Its pretty funny.

Wii was the original party game, but Kinect just takes it to a whole new obscene level I think. My son and I are going nuts with Kinect Sports.

MS has really done an amazing job with the presentation and the "ambiance" of the entire thing. Wow I love it.

The one thing I cant figure out is when you are logged in as "Dad", at the stadium entrance, but then "Son" wants to log in so the Xbox points etc go towards his avatar, do you have to go ALL THE WAY back to the stadium entrance or is there a shorter way to get somebody logged in as the main user?

I asked this same exact question over at NeoGAF and didn't get a response. I'd love to know if there is an easier way, because backing all the way back seems to take forever and gets old after a while when you're switching off playing time with another gold account who wants to keep their own stats.

It just seems stupid. Like something little they overlooked and should be able to fix via a patch I'd think.

So besides Sports, and Kinectimals, are there any other must-haves? Dance is good I see too? I hate to dance though.

I wish i had a bigger room to play it in though. Had to move a couch to a lousy spot and then when we want to play we have to move a recliner. I guess I gotta get on finishing that basement.

The only consensus must-have games are Kinect Sports and Dance Central. Some people like Joy Ride, but there's a demo of it so you can try it out beforehand. I thought it was fun but wasn't particularly responsive enough to justify a purchase. If it were more like $25, I'd definitely get it for a party-type game, but $50 is asking too much.

If you're looking for a fitness game, the only two you should consider are Your Shape Fitness and Biggest Loser. Your Shape sounds like the best all-around fitness game but while Biggest Loser apparently has some horrible menus, I've read a lot of places where people feel like it gives the absolute best trainer-like workout (once you get past the menus).

Other than those (and Kinectimals for the kids), the rest of the games don't really seem up to par, ranging from a "rent or borrow first" to "complete shit".

Just realized something else funky on Sports.
My son is lefty, when he is logged in, and we try to do a Party Mode, in events like Javelin or bowling, EVERYONE hast to throw or bowl lefty? Lame.

I only played the bowling on the demo, but when you pick up the ball you had to hold out whichever hand to the side to pick up the ball. Is the full game not like that?

I have not had so much family fun in all my life as I was watching my college sophomore getting the beatdown from his baby sister in the boxing ring!!!
My stomach was on fire from the pain of nonstop laughing, watching the avatars emote so lifelike, although with dramatic effect. MS may have a monster with this thing. I can't wait for more kinect titles coming out.
Oh, both my daughter and her friend who spent the night playing the Kinect Sports , Kinect Adventures, and Dance Central woke up noon today complaining of sore muscles! This may get the video game generation more active, with fun!

We got the kids one for Christmas along with Joy Ride, Sonic Adventures and Dance Central. I have only played Joy Ride, Kinect Adventures and the demo for Kinect Sports. I am fairly impressed and we had a wii in which I didn't like at all, this is a whole new and better, more polished level. Even though Joy Ride is kiddy it works well and I see a lot of potential for this down the road, especially if the rumor about MS being able to quadruple the camera accuracy.

So my mom gave my wife Dance Central for xmas... the funny thing is i don't have kinect so we can't play it. i was kinda like 'wtf?' when she got a game for my wife for xmas...

turns out when she and my sister went shopping at old navy on black friday, they were giving these out to people who spent $25 or more at old navy. both my mom and my sister got a copy for free, and my mom gave it to my wife for xmas heh.

Me, my wife and my 2 kids were doing the Party Mix in Sports. It came down to the boxing match for the win, and I wanted to go against my wife (what husband wouldn't want to virtually pound on their wife () ) But they sent up my 7yr old daughter (who is BEYOND a spaz when it comes to physical coordination) Well, she beat me silly. I mean CRUSHED me. Pummeled me. I have never seen her happier in all my life. Was awesome.
