Dance Central is from Harmonix
DanceMasters is from Konami

Dance Central is a LOT of fun, and has great tracking. My wife and I both enjoyed playing it last night. I'm not sure about DanceMasters though.

Just compare the track lists between the two games. Dance Central's is better (IMO).

I got a Kinect friday afternoon after waiting for reviews. There were 6 left at my local microcenter when I got there.

The Kinect Sensor:
First its a lot larger than I expected it to be, not to detract from it, I was just expecting a smaller unit.

Setup was a breeze calibration was really easy with the included calibration card, took about 15 minutes including unboxing to get it all setup.

Games:

Kinect Adventures: 2/5
White Water Rafting - Fun, but seems almost overly simplistic, once you platinum a course it loses replayability.

20,000 Leaks - I heard this was one of the work games on the disk, but I really enjoyed it, especially with a friend.

Rallyball -Lame, my least favorite of the package.

Reflex Ridge - Hard, seems to respond poorly to the controls.

Space Pop - Fun, but after you platinum there is no replayibility (its really easy to get the highest score)

Kinect Sports: 4.8/5
Soccer - Amazing fun, every once in awhile a kick does not go the way you planned but its highly accurate and a lot of fun. Played for 2 hours straight with a friend and am ready to go back for more!

Table Tennis - My favorite of the package, just because I love ping pong. Its extremely fun and the range of motions it can detect are incredible!

Track and field - A ton of fun, will get you sweating. Javelin is my favorite by far, but hurdles are fun as well.

Bowling - Works amazingly well, its highly accurate and blows the pants off the wii version.

Beach Volleyball - Very cool, feels a bit like pong meets volleyball meets wii tennis, but really cool, and a good bit of fun.

Boxing - Very cool but a bit too simplistic. Its fun to box but because of the view its hard to tell if you are really protecting your body / face.

Party Mode - Very fun to get teams together, its a compilation of random events and some made up mini-games.

Dance Central: 5/5
Amazing fun, highly intuitive and its a lot of fun to dance. You literally learn to dance rather than do goofy steps like DDR.

Adrenaline Misfits: 3.7/5
A good bit of fun singleplayer, but multiplayer seemed cramped with 2 people trying to play it, especially if one likes to ride normal and one "goofy" as leaning in towards another person makes you worry your going to knock in to each other.

Here's a funny story. You'd think, since the Kinect has no controller, that your TV would be safe from things like Wiimote fail, but apparently not. This guy managed to break his TV while playing Kinect.

I just made a good score. Kmart was having a Friends and Family sale today. I got 20% off, and two $25.00 coupons for games with the purchase or lay away of Kinect, making them about $94 taking into account the coupons. I bought the last two they had. They will be put up for my kids for Xmas.

I've got to say, I like Microsoft's Kinect more than Sony's Move. Move is kind of like a better Wii, but Kinect just feels like something new. I tried both out at BB, and I liked Kinect much more. I'll probably be getting it pretty soon.

I played it today at the 23rd street and 6th avenue BB in Manhattan. The PS3 Move and Kinect both have table tennis set up. The lag was highly noticeable on the Kinect. Annoying.

Before or after playing Move?
After. BB's setup is ingenous cause they're literally back-to-back of each other. But even with such a short distance from the Kinect peripheral the lag is awful. But it's definitely tolerable for exercise games.

Pisses me off we don't have them at our store. Then again that isn't surprising at all.

I'm curious, are Soccer and Ping Pong accurate enough to detect the "curve" you could put on the ball in either case? I wouldn't think you could given the way Kinect works but I may have underestimated it. I currently have the Move and think it's incredibly accurate, especially in ping pong, and just wondered how the "opposition" is.

Reading some of these user accounts is kind of tempting me. The only thing that worries me about Kinect is how well the tool can truly branch out into different types of games and even if it does branch out, will it be just a gimmicky feature or truly add to it? I'd hate to spend $150 on what amounts to a gamble that game companies will come up with interesting features. Although, I did buy a 360 HD-DVD drive, so I guess I can't complain too much . In my defense, that drive does come in handy as a spare external optical drive!

When HD DVD was cancelled, I bought another one really cheap. I use my XBox for DVD playback (and the HD DVDs I own) and I figure that if the HD DVD drive dies...oh well. Plug the next one in...$35 down. If the optical drive in the XBox dies...well, if I'm out of warranty, that's $120.

Also, until the S version, the external drive was far quieter.

Ping Pong is incredibly accurate, the ball goes where you want it to and it can determine curve near perfectly.

Soccer however really gives you a choice of 3 "directions" to kick the ball. Picture foosball meets ultimate frisbee (you kick it to one person they stop running and kick it to the next.)

However shots on goal are highly accurate and you are able to curve there once you get used to it.

Also there is a game where you kick soccer balls at targets in the goal, if you practice that you will get a lot better at kicking in soccer.

Maybe the individual steps will be okay, but please don't copy the sequences. A while back, I heard a guy sing karaoke of "When You Were Young" exactly like the version in Rock Band. He was pretty good, but it was still kind of pathetic.

It is fun! Sad story though... my wife and I never realized how uncoordinated we really are! I suck!

My wife and I played together Sunday and she got a little offended that I was beating her scores given how un-rhythmic I actually am.

However, I know better than to think I can go out and do the Candy Cane or the Latino in a club. Definitely no Tick Tock.

Ugh... all these good things being said about it.
I feel as if I'm going to end up getting this for the kiddos for Christmas...

Uh... I assume it works with modded Xboxes?
