i think you're wrong. lebron is the heart and soul of cleveland. what makes him different than other FA's is that he was born in nearby akron. he was annointed the "chosen one".

bosh does not want to come to cleveland. not even with lebron there. no one else wants to come to cleveland.

if they lose lebron, basketball will be dead in cleveland. that is why they are all over his nutsack.

I think he's a fantastic player, seems like a nice guy, and it's great for NE Ohio to have a local guy that is invested in the area and strenghthens the perception of the area. But if he's going to go, he's going to go. No amount of pep rallies, billboards, and begging politicians/local B-listers is going to change that.

By your reasoning, if nobody else wants to come here, then basketball is already dead in Cleveland anyway. We likely won't win a championship on one man's shoulders, but he will bear the burden of those losses more than anyone else.

It would be great if he stays, and I hope the Cavs can continue what they have attempted to start and build a solid TEAM and coaching staff with the goal of winning championships. If it's just going to devolve into a circus of trying to keep one guy happy, I'd rather he left.

JJ beyond sucks and amare slightly less so. they will be the elton brands of 2010. slightly above average players not worth their huge long term contracts.

best move for the knicks if they don't get wade/bosh/lebron is to get Gay, resign Lee and develop their young players. then pick up CP or melo or both in 2011.
do NOT overpay for underperformers.

He's also one of the few "stars" who is under spoken and lets his game do his talking. He never really had a mentor in Toronto, but if he was given the chance to play with a dominate big man, I feel it'd change his game. He's also gotten better and hasn't even entered his prime. He's easily a top 5 big man in the league.

joe johnson? can you say overrated? he is a slightly above average shooting guard. whoever signs him for max $ is going to be in for a big disappointment.

He's not slightly above average - he's actually a great SG. Look at where he was with the Suns, and then where he's at now on the Hawks. When he went to the Hawks, they were loaded with wings. Hell, personally, I think he's more of a SF than a SG, but that has a lot to do with his size. He's probably coming into the end of his career and this will be the last big contract he'll get.

i agree bosh is a solid player, but he's not a max contract player. he's not going to carry a team.
heck, he missed playoffs in the weak eastern conference. he'll be a great complimentary player but he does not dominate.

i don't follow the hawks but from what i saw in the playoffs, i saw nothing special in JJ.
sure, he underperformed but i did not see a lot of upside to his game. again, definitely not max contract.

i've said this before, max contract players should only be offered to those that can carry teams. the ones that score at will. the ones that command double teams.

currently, there's only a handful. kobe, lebron, melo, durant, dirk, wade, maybe one or two others that i missed.
offer a max contract to anyone else besides these and you've overpaid (from a basketball standpoint, not a financial/business standpoint).

Joe Johnson is very good but way overpaid. He's inconsistent, not a great 3pt shooter (36.9&#37 while shooting 5 a game, and is probably the worst shooting 'star' guard in the league during the playoffs.

This year he managed an epic 38.7% over 11 games. He had a great final year in phoenix with steve nash, but overall I pity the team that gives him a max contract.

I'd love to see Dirk win a ring in Dallas but it's not gonna happen with the pieces he's got. Maybe he'll get smart and leave Dallas so he can have a shot at a ring.

It should get him a good 4-yr contract tho, and I'm guessing it will be in Dallas.
