I love the idiots claiming RJ thought he could get more money, which is why he opted out of his contract.

I hope cp3 comes to NY, would be exciting since it would likely draw melo too.

He's looking like a genius now, picking up an extra $24m, totalling $39m over 4 years.

Wtf were the spurs thinking...$10m a year for 12 points??

wow, it's an arms war between the lakers and heat, barnes to the lakers at a bargain bin price! the starting five for both teams look awesome, but imo the lakers bench has a slight advantage. the heat still have some roster space to fill out though.

Looks like Shannon Brown isn't coming back with the signing of Barnes.

unf'ingbelievable...Ron Artest and Barnes?? lol. I think Barnes is a much better acquisition than raja bell, especially at that price.

I wanna see people try to knock his decision now...I expect that he will get a lot more playing time next year. He really should be a starter in the league. The dude can play, its not his fault he was on a very bad milwaukee team and he was misused on a good spurs team. He was a future start before he got thrown into that shit. He was overpaid though, but opting out was a fantastic move, I hope it shuts up all these fake NBA fans in here. I hope even more that he gets the chance to play though. I don't know if the spurs are the best place for him though. It could work

and barnes was cheap as hell. its crazy how little he got compared to some other guys. I'm just glad the heat didn't get him.

yup, barnes signing for slightly more than the vet min is a shocker. bells outside shooting would have been nice, but barnes is also a hard nosed defender, younger, and more athletic. i'm betting on a lakers vs. celtics rematch in the finals (screw lefraud and miami), so this actually looks to be the better pickup. having artest and barnes to defend pierce and allen will free up the *bitch* that we love/hate to expend more energy on offense.

Lakers are stacked...again.

as long as the heat don't win, i'm cool. seems to be my feelings a lot lately, "as long as x team doesn't win, I'll be happy"

latest was "as long as lebron doesn't stay in cleveland I'll be happy." That one did win be $600, but miami was a BITCH move

Unless Lebron, Wade, and Bosh can play 48 minutes, even while in foul trouble......it should be fun to watch them exit the playoffs in shame.

also have to figure that ebanks and caracter, are upgrades over powell and mbenga as well. not that they'll end up playing much with the addition of ratliff and granted that some overpaid tard can stay healthy.

I hope so man. An injury to any of those 3 will be HUGE. Side note, I'll be extremely dissapointed if they break, or even tie, the bulls' 72-10 record. That was an amazing team and it shouldn't be discredited by some bullshit like the 2010 heat. I doubt they will be able to do it though.

I don't think the heat have a chance to win it this year. The next few they may, I just hope that losing this first year will throw them off their game and screw em for the next 3 years, leading to dismantling

yup, wade is the only winner on that team, while haslem is probably the best defender and closest thing to an enforcer. looks like it will be a glorified version of the suns run and gun days with d'antoni, with little to no defense played. in the playoffs, orlando will give them a run for the money, while boston will just flat out steamroll them.

Not a chance in hell that record falls. Lebron said in his own words that joining up with Wade and Bosh relieves the pressure of him having to score 30 points every night in order to win.

If you read between the lines, what he was really saying is now he can stay out till 3 am, fuck ho's, stumble into practice the next day hung over and hopefully one of the other guys will pick up the slack.

Joining the Heat was all about giving Lebron the opportunity to take nights off and still win games, which was something he could never do in Cleveland.

For 72-10 to be broken, it would take an ultra talented, ultra competitive and ultra motivated team. As good as they'll probably be, I just don't see this Heat team keeping up that level of intensity for 82 games.

The Heat are too good not to win a ring in the next few years as Kobe ages, but there still could be comedy in there. Amusing would be if Lebron picks up a season-ending injury about halfway through the season and Wade takes the Heat to another title without Lebron. Then when Lebron comes back, they don't do as well.

Lakers and Heat both made some good signings in the offseason. We'll see how it works out for them.

Wade seems motivated enough to win 70 games. He's always motivated. But the other guys might not be on board, especially Lebron the sidekick loafer.

Interesting article over at ESPN. Their own ombudsman went on a rant about how crappy ESPN was at airing the decision by paying for a news story: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=ohlmeyer_don&id=5397113

Yesterday I was on the 405 behind a brand new bentley with dark ass tinted windows that had a miami heat license plate. Three huge black guys inside....was lebron in LA yesterday or something?

Any talk of the Heat challenging the Bulls 72-10 record is RIDICULOUS. Every year a team starts hot and morons on ESPN starting wondering if the Bulls record is in jeopardy and every year that team inevitably succumbs to the rigors of a 82 game season: injuries, motivation, etc.

72-10 is a MONUMENTAL feat.

To be honest, every other year a team will go 65 wins. So whats an extra 7. Mark my words - the heat will get either close, or will equal/beat the 72-10 record.

The thing is, with both LBJ and Flash (Bosh is a hack, I don't consider him much of a talent), its very close to guaranteed that at least 1 will have a good game on any given night. Against most scrub teams, this will be enough to win. And when they play good teams, they will be more motivated to win. LBJ single-handedly took the cavs to an impressive record, the kid is a BEAST.

i agree, bosh is severely overrated. he couldn't even take the warriors to 8th place in the weak east.
