To be honest, every other year a team will go 65 wins. So whats an extra 7. Mark my words - the heat will get either close, or will equal/beat the 72-10 record.

The thing is, with both LBJ and Flash (Bosh is a hack, I don't consider him much of a talent), its very close to guaranteed that at least 1 will have a good game on any given night. Against most scrub teams, this will be enough to win. And when they play good teams, they will be more motivated to win. LBJ single-handedly took the cavs to an impressive record, the kid is a BEAST.

Maybe it's just me, but if I were them I wouldn't care about the 72-10 record or try my 100% to try and beat that ... you already know there are some holes in the roster, so LBJ, Wade and Bosh would need to play major minutes ... I wouldn't bang myself up to beat the record and fall short in the playoffs. For them, it's to get in the playoffs and really turn it up. Not many folks can do what kobe did, played hurt and still win a championship.

an extra 7 wins is HUGE.

Exactly. 65 wins in a season is basically already including an 'extra 7'. It takes an incredible level of 'gelling' for a team to be the machine that the '96 bulls were. Having Phil Jackson here was huge.

Sure they had Jordan to score, but they won 72 because of 3 first-team all-defense players.

That and the fact that Jordan was humiliated earlier in the year by Orlando in his return to the playoffs, and the chip on his shoulder was huge (that never boded well for his competition).

The 'chip on the shoulder' works in the favor of the heat, but they aren't the defensive kings that jordan, pippen, and rodman were, and their team won't gel as quickly either.

To win 72, there an extremely small margin of error and little room for injuries.

(my prediction: NO fvcking way the heat even win 70.)

He's looking like a genius now, picking up an extra $24m, totalling $39m over 4 years.

Wtf were the spurs thinking...$10m a year for 12 points??

Yeh, I gotta scratch my head at the contract. It was kinda uncharacteristic of San Antonio to offer that much for so little production.

As far as deals of the summer...Barnes at 1.7 million? Are you kidding me? The guy is an excellent defender, plays his ass off, and can hit a shot from about anywhere on the floor if needed. LA got a phenomenal deal there.

aww, was hoping he joined the lakers but warriors is still good, at least I can catch some games that way

That would be cool, but seriously, how much would he play on the lakers? A championship team isn't a place for an undrafted rookie to find his place in the league. Warriors are probably an excellent fit for him because there is a lot opportunity to play and grow, and make mistakes along the way (since the warriors suck so much. )

lol

please, you and many other people are obviously delusional. one man does not make a team nor wins games alone, as you would believe lefraud did. believe it or not, the cavs are still a decent team without him. williams, gibson, jamison, hickson, and varajao are a solid starting five albeit a bit undersized.

there's also the fact that quite a bit of talent moved out east this offseason. teams won't be able to take as many nights off with the additions the bulls, knicks, nets, and wizards have made. in the best case scenario, i'm going to guess that they will win 64 games at most. realistically, i see them winning 55-60 games.

Plenty of time to mingle with the warrior girls :awe:.

Over under 70games won for Miami? I'll go over - That is if they stay healthy and don't rest for playoffs too early.

I have to say I like this post. Jordan came back with vengeance that year and the Bulls completely dominated. Jordan won Regular Season, All Star and Finals MVP that year. The D was huge, which you pointed out, and had 3 first team all-defense players.

The major difference I see in the Heat and the Bulls is leadership and maturity. Jordan didn't take shit (see Jrodan punching Steve Kurr) on his teams. Jordan was the ultimate leader. Do you think for a second that Jordan would EVER dance on the floor and act like a freaking fool? He respected the game and other teams. The Heat don't have that. I love D Wade, but he's just not a leader with a killer instinct 24/7. Lebron? He's a phenomenon, but he's had everything handed to him. He's been praised his entire life and he's the "king". He's immature and doesn't have the leadership skills, regardless of his skill.

So I just don't see them winning 70+ games like the Bulls. Won't happen. They will get lazy or showboat and get their asses kicked.

Lebron won 66 games with the Cavaliers though a couple years ago. You'd think adding Wade and Bosh to the equation gets you at least 4 more wins - I know it doesn't exactly work like that though. I still think they'll win 70.

I don't doubt that the Heat will win a championship in the next 3 years. With that being said, this year and next are very important for them to learn how to play together well. Kobe and the Lakers are getting older and I think the only chance for Kobe to beat Jordan's number of championships is next year possibly and then things will change once Phil leaves.

It will be pretty enjoyable to see the Heat beat down the Lakers once they start to mesh together well. Gasol's flopping skills won't help them now and Kobe might rape a chick then bitch/whine and want to be traded again.

It took the Lakers 2 years to win a championship with their line-up. The only change they had was Artest. I don't think they'll win it this coming season but the season after that they will after they really start to gel.
