First thought was that Lamar Odom would do that if it were Sweet Tarts or candy in general.

About the Grizzlies, I think the article was pointing out that no team was going to offer more since Rudy is a restricted free agent, so they could always just match and keep him (even against his will if they wanted to). Also, they would have been able to handle the front loading with their current finances.

Joe Johnson is good but he's not 120 over 6 good. He's going to end up getting paid more than Lebron, Wade, Dirk, Pierce, and maybe Bosh. Whoever gets Lebron for 16 is going to get an absolute steal. Without caps, I wouldn't be surprised if the Knicks offered him ~50/year.

Looks like amare is leaving phoenix. Have fun not having nash spoon feed you the ball

Unless he goes to Boston (Rondo) or somewhere else with a good point guard to get him the ball, he's going to be in for a nasty dose or reality without Nash.

It's not going to be pretty. He might have to do something more than dive the lane after the point guard breaks it down.

And having had his microfracture surgery a few years ago, they said it was a possibility he'd need another in time from wear and tear. A max contract for him is not going to end well.

Pierce reaches deal with Celtics, for "significantly less" than the $21m he gave up next year.

Some really...really retarded payouts happening this year. Frye...Gooden...Joe Johnson? What?

At what point is it unsustainable?

Why did my parents tell me to concentrate on school and not sports. Even if I was a failed NBA player, I still would be making more money

Ha! I told my wife the same thing. If I could be anyone, just make me somebody like Brian Scalabrine (Boston). I sit on the bench for all but 30 seconds of the game. Come in at the end of a quarter for 10 seconds while they shuffle players on free throws. Maybe inbound a ball, dump off a pass. Heck, maybe even hit a three pointer.

Don't even work up a sweat enough to need a shower at the end of the game.

Collect a million dollars a year.

Score!

that article is trying to be funny I guess? it really fails since the guy is oblivious. seems pretty obvious that the grizzlies thought that another team would have offered him more, which definitely could have been likely considering the contracts some scrubs were getting, and the possibility of many free agents staying at home.

The problem is that no other teams can pay Gay more than the Grizzlies due to the salary cap. Since Memphis has Gay's bird right, they can give Gay a 6 year contract with 10.5% year to year raise versus 5 year with 8% raise with any other team. The 5 year 82 million dollar contract is more than any other team can offer.

You're right though, I think Gay would've eventually fetched a max contract from the losers of the LeBron/Bosh/Wade sweepstake, but Memphis definitely blinked before the game even started. If I were a Grizz fan, I'd be annoyed because it feels like the front office isn't even trying. The only person that benefits from this quick signing is the owner that's trying to sell the team. This avoid Gay signing a front loaded contract (but still same total amount) and having to pay Gay an extra 10 mil the first year (but less every year after that).

Rumors are that Amare will bite on NY's Knicks offer of 5 year/100 mil.

Amare thinks he's a #1 guy, but he's not, and that should come through once he starts playing for the Knickerbockers. It seemed like he resented the fact that Nash was the most loved guy on the Suns.

I think Amare knows he's not that good, especially without Nash. Supposedly, he was offered a 3 year deal worth 71 (23.6/year), with 2 more years if he plays enough minutes. He balked at that and decided on the Knicks for 5 and 100.

Considering he has a bad rep for being lazy and not playing D and not grabbing enough rebounds along with the bad knee(s), it's a bit of a stretch to see him being a max guy. Good luck to whoever overpays for him.

Also, Agent of the Year award to Darko's agent getting him *another* 20M. Hahaha.

No doubt Amare is going to be in a serious Nash hangover going to NY. Look at pretty much every other player that left him. Marion - former shell of his 20/10 days. Boris Diaw...does he even play now? Joe Johnson isn't as much a threat as he was with the Suns. And then look at what Richardson did once he came to Phoenix.

Nash is a stud that makes everyone's box score around him look about 2x as good as they really are.

And no freaking kidding! I don't get the mindset of owners.

Agent: You have to pay this guy or he's gone. We really really mean it.

Owner: But all he's ever done was get drafted way too high.

Agent: Yes, but he *could* do something. I mean his name is freaking Darko. And he's really tall. How can you not like that?

Owner: Yeh, I guess you're right. Somebody else might be interested in him. Ok. How much?

Agent: We want 16 mil, locked in.

Owner: WTF? That's like 1 million for every point & rebound he averages a game. That'd be like giving Lebron 70 million a year and no one would pay that.

Agent: Yeh but Lebrons name isn't Darko.

Owner: Ok. You got me there. Where do I sign?

For this reason, I respect Durant a lot more than Lebron.

Lebron seemed to be level headed when he first entered the league. then he got cocky and started doing retarded dances pre-game. when he stormed off the court in the loss to orlando, i lost all respect for him.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are said to be making progress toward signing Kevin Durant to an extension. There wasn't the huge court-case-style camera coverage outside his house when team officials paid him a visit at 12:01 a.m. ET on July 1, the way there was for the first day of the LeBron sessions in Cleveland. Typical for this unassuming superstar and no-frills team.

Knicks near deal with Stoudemire - Source
Source: Wade Leaning Towards Bulls - Source
Source: Blake headed to Lakers - Source

If Wade leaves Miami and goes to Chicago I think we can all assume that its a done deal, Lebron, Bosh, Wade in Chi-town.

There is no other reason Wade would leave Miami.

AWESOME! Now if the team can stay healthy they'll easily take the ring next season. Last season the only reason they lost was because Perkins being injury when they needed him the most. And 2 seasons ago KG out in the finals was the only reason they lost. A healthy Celtics wins it, I think Pierce has 1 more season in him. All they need is to stay injury free and the Lakers can suck it.

They will all be one year older.
