Mike Miller's dad reported that Miller is signing with the Heat. Riley looks like an absolute genius (ala 96 West), getting 3 max guys to sign for less than max to fit in Miller, who's going to be an awesome fit since he's a shooter that's going to be open all the time with the SuperFriends on the floor. Now they just need the 3 rings to match.

Why? i don't recall hearing about them making any big moves to pick up big-name players. If LBJ went to the nets, it'd be a lot like his going to cleveland 7 years ago... he obviously doesn't want to work that hard again to take his team to the playoffs singlehandedly
Because they tanked last season

I am tired of hearing about how Magic and Bird wouldn't do this. If they want to compare him to another person, there is really only Jordan. People are forgetting how Bird and Magic were drafted. Kobe acted like a butt to his organization until they got Pau so I wouldn't even compare him to Kobe.

James can sacrifice pats of his game now and go for what Oscar did, average a triple double for the year.

So that makes 4 guys. They need what, 11 to make a roster? How many quality bigs and replacements can they pull in for the 5-8 million they have left over?

They could each take a max contract and then the Heat use the mid-level exception on Miller and then sign people to league minimums.

But, if they want to win, they can each take less and sign a center to a good sized contract.

Why do people keep saying this? Did anybody watch the NBA games? I like King James, I have said multiple times in discussions with people, I think he is the best player in the game. But he didn't elevate his game when he needed to. I don't like what he did, I am not going to totally trash him, but I am also not going to remember only certain facts and make excuses for him either.

Kobe went out for a few games last year and the Lakers did really well against good teams in his absence. The Lakers have the highest payroll in the NBA and the talent to show for it. The Lakers could make the Conf Semis without Kobe, the Conf Finals would be a stretch.

Cleveland tried making due with what they could and not getting anything truly long-term around James the past few years. They were trying to appease him now, so he would stay for the future.

I find Gilbert funny, I wonder how many players will be jumping to play for him now.

I'll be the first to admit that I don't have a great grasp on the financial/contract/salary side of the NBA. But is there anything stopping 5 veterans like Shaq from coming in and signing from league min? Well..other than their own egos?

Because if I was on the end of my career and I already made more in one year than most people will make in 10 lifetimes...I'd sign up for a final ring run with the superbestfriends team and offer my services for cheap.

But then I'm not used to banking 20 mil a year either....not sure if I'd be able to feed my kids off a measley 1 million.

The heat do not have the midlevel since they were not over the cap when the off season started, or that's how I understand it anways.

At this point, after signing mike miller, their only options would be to sign all the vets at the league min. which any team can do. even if they are over the cap.

You never saw Shaq's divorce papers with his expenses for the month? Here's some:

• $156,116 on mortgages.

• $110,505 on vacations.

• $60,417 on gifts.

• $26,560 on baby-sitters.

• $24,300 on gasoline.

• $22,190 on maids.

• $17,220 on clothes.

• $12,775 on food.

• And the tax man gets about $500,000 a month in income taxes.

That being said, he obviously has enough in the bank, and in endorsements to take care of anything even if he wasn't paid squat for a year. But, he's an old fart and his career is over and he couldn't survive playing an entire game let alone a few quarters.

at 1.3 million a month in expenses, I don't think he can do ~1.5 million a year

Wow, wow, wow. Tyrus Thomas just got paid. Haha. 5 years, 40M. Typical useless Jordan-GM move.

So that makes 4 guys. They need what, 11 to make a roster? How many quality bigs and replacements can they pull in for the 5-8 million they have left over?

Consensus among all the talking heads is that they'll win maybe 50-60 games and have no title this coming year because their roster will be too thin.

But look, if Riley has that kind of recruiting power, next offseason, if there's still a MLE, he can use that + any draft picks to get some help. It's for the long-term. Lakers are still odds on favorite for the coming season to 3 peat. The only way I can see the Heat not winning a title or two in the next 5 years is if the new CBA is a hard cap with no exceptions so then they'd be stuck.

Also, lol at Dan Gilbert selling Lebron stuff off for 17.41 (year Benedict Arnold was born). Lebron may have killed his team value, but he's going to end up killing it almost as much by turning away possible FAs from wanting to play for his team.

The mortgage I can understand. The Day care I can too. Clothes & vacations...whatever. He's a celebrity...$20,000 a night penthouses in exotic locations add up fast.

But $24,000 a month in gas? That's like 300 gallons A DAY. WTF man?

Hahaha Chris Broussard is suggesting Kwame Brown for center for the Heat.

Brad Miller is still out there also.

He makes millions a year off endorsements, I would hope he has SOMETHING in the bank so I'm sure that he could play in the NBA and take a salary of $0 and still afford all his expenses.

Entourage.

Still...that's like 10 hummers getting 10 miles to the gallon driving 300 miles a piece. EACH DAY.

Or 20 hummers getting 10 miles to the gallon driving 150 miles.

Or 75 Honda fits getting 40 MPG driving 140 miles a day.

LOL.. Brad Miller.

Wade & Bron: Brad...you just stay on this side of the court and wait around. Don't worry about coming back to play D. We'll catch up to you on the transition.
