The announcement is May 27th.
The rumor is 5.5" QHD screen with minimal bezels.
Water proofed, removable battery, sd slots.
All the wonderful things from the G2, blah blah blah....
I'm a bit bias since I've used LG phones since the G2x but they make the best looking phones.
Me and the wife both are sporting G2s right now which I think are still the best phone out right now.
She won't let me upgrade anytime soon but I cal salivate.
If this rumored pic is true, its a fantastic looking phone.

The only problem I had with the G2 was the awful slimey plastic back. There is good plastic (Nexus 5), and then there is bad plastic (G2). I sure do hope they learned their lesson.

Ultimately though, I don't see myself getting a G3 because the One+ wins with its fantastic price.

I'd be careful of expecting too much. At this point, I think a 2K screen is a decent guess, but I'm not sure about waterproofing. Unless LG has come up with something that Sony and Samsung haven't - it doesn't seem possible right now to be waterproof without growing the size of the phone. So waterproofing, minimal bezels, removable back with replaceable battery and mSD - IMO they don't all jive together. But if LG has somehow done it, then they have the Android phone of the year IMO (challenged possibly only by the Note 4).

Personally I'm a little surprised they went all the way to 5.5" for their mainstream phone - unless they've done some magic, it may pass the limit of what most consumers are willing to carry. Phablets are popular, but still not the mainstream choice for most people.

The picture of the phone is in a case.
I think the reason LG went to 5.5" is to fit in a QHD display. They don't make 5.2" QHD display

That's a lot of pixels for the SoC.
Unless Qualcomm has new magic up its sleeves, it sounds like a lag fest.

Can't wait for this to be released. I'll be upgrading from the S4 (and the S4 will go to my dad).

Still can't tell whether the back is metal or metal-looking plastic. Wondering whether this will be another 160g+ brick or less/more.

Damn it!

What is it with companies and the draw to release hideous gold coloured phones?

Be honest ... you hate it because it has a uSD slot!

The 2K display has about 78% more pixels then phones that have 1080P screens and they have been on the market for a couple years now. The SoC and display hardware have had a couple generations of upgrades since them.

Will it take more cpu power to draw the display -- yes, of course. Will it be a show stopper -- not likely!

Pretty amazing what LG is doing these days. That Isai FL with 5.5" 2k screen & 3000mAh battery is 145mm tall, 76mm wide, 10.5mm thick.

The HTC One M8 with 5" 1080p screen and 2600mAh battery is 146mm tall, 71mm wide, 9.4mm thick.

The physical dimensions really aren't that different, especially considering the screen & battery difference.

While still not really my cup of chai, that's actually one of the better looking "gold" phones I've seen. I mean, it actually looks metallic rather than like a band-aid.

As a Nexus 10 owner, can confirm. You get to a point where the resolution is too high and it impacts performance.

No, you can't confirm. The Adreno 420<?> in the Snapdragon 801 (or 805) is significantly powerful than the Mali 400 in the Exynos 5 Dual. Even the Adreno parts in the Snapdragon 600 will have little issue working a 1440p display.

Is this really going to actually have a removable battery? The G2's was integrated, was it not? Seems like when phones get these massive 3000mah+ juice packs, they're integrated. Also, with the volume rocker on the back of the phone, would that effect the mechanism for the volume?
