I'll keep my g2 and get the g4 when it comes out. I had a feeling that screen would do numbers on the battery life. Replaceable or not I don't want to plug it in to charge until it's bed time

I don't know what your idea of buttery smooth is but I still the One S which has the exact internal as the One X minus the 720P screen. So in theory the S should be faster because of less pixels to push but its no where near buttery smooth.
The speed difference between the G2 and One S is night and day.
The problem is people have never been honest about "buttery smooth." Either their eyes suck and can't tell 60 fps smoothness, or they just think whatever they see is "good enough."

People say Maps 7.x is buttery smooth supposedly though but I have yet to witness that.

I run a One X which has the same specifications I believe, butter smooth. If your GS3 is laggy, probably due to Samsung's UI which can easily be flashed over, HTC Sense runs great for me.

TouchWiz has always been a bloated mess, but Sense on the One S/X was just as bad. Sense 3.5, 4.x and 4+ were all horribly bloated laggy messes.

I was actually a little confused, when I got my One m7 because people were saying Sense 5 was so debloated and toned done . . . and yet coming from a Gnex and Razr HD, I thought it was the most bloated monstrosity I'd seen since the Verizon Thunderbolt. It wasn't until I saw a side by side comparison that it really clicked.

But, TouchWiz, always crap. Kudos to Samsung for making the most powerful mobile CPUs lag and stutter though.

Except the s5 doesn't lag and stutter.

Even my S4 runs fine. It runs well enough that I haven't even bothered to root and tweak it after the last update. Maybe he's referring to the default launcher which probably still sucks, but TW is fine throughout the rest of the phone.

I rooted and use a slimmer rom with Nova launcher and freeze touchwiz but even when it was stock it felt fast and fluid. Now my S3 did have a bit of sluggishness to it with stock roms. It's most definitely not the issue it once was.

Wonder how pre-orders will go on a phone like this. Beyond technical sites, I don't hear much about it.

Has there been a reliable report on battery life ?
Anandtech did a review.

Overall it seems like the battery life is good if you let the screen dim on its own which sometimes dims lower than other devices would and if you adjust it manually to be brighter, the battery takes a hit and you lose a couple hours of life.

Also, that's still a euro model. The American carrier models are just shipping this week so no one's done an in-depth on the changes with those yet.

Haha nice pmark. Stupid tablet took me forever just to post that. Anyways, this was too sweet of a deal to pass up on a newly released flagship. S4 can now go to my dad (he's been using a S2 lol).

A friend of mine just got the G3 from BestBuy for $14 once all discounts were tallied up.

Messed around with it- seriously nice phone. For that price- a freakin' steal.

Tried out a G3 just a few min ago. It is nice but I don't see anything about the screen besides the size that screams "I am better than the s5". It certainly feels nice though.

They're better, but you won't go running to the G3 for audio fidelity. HTC still has that on lock.

I just want to say that I'm loving the G3. I upgraded from a Samsung S3 and the G3 is a huge upgrade. The speed, screen, battery life are much better than what I was using. I don't know if this is just for the G3, but I can now reply to text messages without leaving the current app that I'm in. Its a little thing, but it is a big deal for me. On the S3, I had to wait about 5 seconds for the apps to switch to type out a reply. Now I can just reply through the notification bar.

How locked down is the G3; I'm still on an unlocked verizon note 2; not sure I will stay with verizon might switch to tmobile but prefer a phone that does not have carrier junk.

I'm on AT&T and there are a bunch of AT&T apps on it. I just ignore them...

No such thing as a steal when signing 2 year contacts.

Depends very greatly on exactly which G3 it is.
