The problem is people have never been honest about "buttery smooth." Either their eyes suck and can't tell 60 fps smoothness, or they just think whatever they see is "good enough."I don't know what your idea of buttery smooth is but I still the One S which has the exact internal as the One X minus the 720P screen. So in theory the S should be faster because of less pixels to push but its no where near buttery smooth.
The speed difference between the G2 and One S is night and day.
I run a One X which has the same specifications I believe, butter smooth. If your GS3 is laggy, probably due to Samsung's UI which can easily be flashed over, HTC Sense runs great for me.
Except the s5 doesn't lag and stutter.TouchWiz has always been a bloated mess, but Sense on the One S/X was just as bad. Sense 3.5, 4.x and 4+ were all horribly bloated laggy messes.
I was actually a little confused, when I got my One m7 because people were saying Sense 5 was so debloated and toned done . . . and yet coming from a Gnex and Razr HD, I thought it was the most bloated monstrosity I'd seen since the Verizon Thunderbolt. It wasn't until I saw a side by side comparison that it really clicked.
But, TouchWiz, always crap. Kudos to Samsung for making the most powerful mobile CPUs lag and stutter though.

Anandtech did a review.Has there been a reliable report on battery life ?
Anandtech did a review.
Overall it seems like the battery life is good if you let the screen dim on its own which sometimes dims lower than other devices would and if you adjust it manually to be brighter, the battery takes a hit and you lose a couple hours of life.
best buy has it on sale for $100 off plus a $50 GC if you get it by July 12.

How are the speakrs on the G3 ? I know the reviews indicate they are better than G2...
How locked down is the G3; I'm still on an unlocked verizon note 2; not sure I will stay with verizon might switch to tmobile but prefer a phone that does not have carrier junk.
A friend of mine just got the G3 from BestBuy for $14 once all discounts were tallied up.
Messed around with it- seriously nice phone. For that price- a freakin' steal.
