I'd be curious what your thoughts are on the HTC One M8 compared to this. I mostly ruled out the M8 because of the camera. Seems its only "great" in pretty limited situations.
How do I block numbers on this. Long press on a number in recent calls brings up a menu but there is no block option. That's where it was on previous phones. On vzw if that matters
There should be a menu option that says "Reject call." Poor wording, I know, it should say "Auto-reject number" or something instead, but it doesn't.
Did you try adding to contacts and then blocking it?there is not
The M8's camera is actually very good if not exceptional as far as user control is concerned. Aside from Nokia, it's the only snapper that has a full manual mode. The G3 in comparison (again from the point of user interface) is a joke because it has no options to control important things such as focus, ISO, shutter speed, white balance, metering, et al...
4MP is a bummer if you want to blow up the shots for printing or on a high resolution monitor but the pics that it takes particularly of moving things such as pets, can turn out far better in similar circumstances. What good is a 13MP image if it's blurry?
I like the M8 a lot. I run Team Venom's Viper exclusively (ATT) and have no complaints. Since it has all the customizations, Xposed framework isn't needed and this makes switching to ART actually attractive. The current ROM does not support ART but 2.0 will...
The IPS LCD on the M8 may not have the super blacks that AMOLED does but it sure looks pretty displaying text on black backgrounds. Holding it side by side with my GS5 makes the AMOLED look kind of fuzzy in comparison.
The G3 has the potential to shoot for the stars here but that unsharp mask that's applied to make things look "sharper" ruins it. :|
The pixel response time on the LG IPS panel is also superb, but again other things are in the way preventing users from seeing its true potential.
p.s. IMHO the best daily driver case is the Diztronic here:

Price is right too!
I have all my phones in them and never had issues even with drops.

For a plain black case, that probably is the best option. I went with the Spigen Slim Armor in gunmetal because I wanted a little bit of color.p.s. IMHO the best daily driver case is the Diztronic here:

Pretty interesting. But I would assume another camera app would allow you to use all those other features you were speaking of?
Just holding the G3 in stores compared to the M8, I preferred the M8. When I first held the M8 it felt huge, but when I came back weeks later, the G3 seems definitely like a two handed model, while the M8.. you can at least maneuver around with one hand.
I'm still not sure about the camera. I may end up just buying an M8 and using it for two weeks. If I hate it, then I'll return it to Verizon. Also waiting for the next Motorola phone to come out...
I've used both extensively, and I'd actually go with the One.
The G3 is great in many ways, and it's certainly better if you need higher resolutions for photo crops (or a replaceable battery). But the One just feels like a more well-rounded phone. Better build quality, no sacrifices for the sake of stuffing in a higher-res display, and superior low-light camera performance. It feels like it was designed to make someone happy rather than out-spec a competitor.
In all honesty I would have got the M8 if they put in a higher resolution camera.
The G3 camera is superb.

I think people have a tendency to look too much at how big the phone is as a whole instead of looking at the distance from where you hold the phone to the top left corner of the screen. Anything above and left of that corner is irrelevant to how easily you can reach the screen with one hand.
On that note, the M8 has more of an ergonomic advantage over the G3 than plain dimension numbers suggest.
I think this is one of the reasons why the Samsung Galaxy S4 felt much better in hand than my LG G2 when I had them side by side.
This.
As mentioned the M8 has more control options for the camera.... but it still takes crappy shots from what I've seen in comparison to the G3. Control over crap is still crap.
Much of the M8 I liked, but the camera is seriously what put me off after I compared actual shots it took while I was at the store and versus what friends own. It just took shitty shots in normal daylight scenarios. Which is where I take most of my photos. I guess if I spent most of my time in a dingy bar all day long with low lighting then maybe I would prefer the M8's camera over the competition. I have a few friends who do like it specifically because they do spend most of their time in low light bars and such.
Performance-wise I have no problem with the M8. It's just the camera is what put me off about it. Which is why my choices for a new phone this year boiled down to either the OPO (due to price), or the LG G3. I ended up getting the G3, although today I FINALLY got my OPO invite. Sheesh. 2 weeks too late for them.
I'm about to upgrade and can't force myself to deal with the 4MP camera on the M8. I did catch a few rumors on the web that HTC was going to release a "M8 Prime" that could have a camera upgrade. Really hope its true as the HTC would be my hands down number one choice with the cam upgrade. If not, the G3 is definitely the one I'm going with. Been a Samsung fanboy for years (Captivate all the way up to my current GS3) and just want to try something different.
